My work was a success. Kian knows. I should feel complete, but I can’t get away from that feeling. My love, why do I have this consternation? Should I not be complete because I have fulfilled my function in the Deconjuration? The cats keep looking at me. They keep looking at me.

Vanessa Ângelo

Vanessa Ângelo was Mandraque Ângelo's wife and a resident of the Devilish Mansion, being the responsible of transforming Virgílio Scelto in a Receptacle of Kian.[1]

Appearance[]

Vanessa's appearance was described by Nestor Scelto as a sinister figure, always wearing long dark clothes, veil and gloves, being almost impossible to see her face.[2]

Personality[]

Vanessa was a woman completely in love with her husband, reaching a point of obsession in which she does everything so that her beloved can return in all its magnitude.[3]

Biography[]

Vanessa and Mandraque Ângelo moved to the Blue Condominium at Canadense and eventually built their mansion until 1970.[2] The two lived together there, but Mandraque did not stay home much, leaving Vanessa alone with her nine cats most of the time. At some unknown moment, Mandraque introduces Vanessa to the Occultism and chooses her as the Realizer of the "Passage".[1]

Vanessa then starts creating irresistible dolls and spreads them all over town. Thus she attracted some children and locked them in the center of the house, which had been demarcated with a purifying incense of Knowledge, submitting them to the process of Deconjuration, creating then Existeds, entities that weaken the veil with only its presence, while she sought a perfect "Vessel of Knowledge". Vanessa chooses Virgílio Scelto, one of the watchmen of the condominium, to be the chosen Vessel.[4]

Virgílio then is attracted by hearing screams to the mansion, where the Passage begins to be realized, but to finish the process Vanessa murders the four Existeds and imprisons them as entities in that place by performing a Forced Haunt Ritual.[5] To get rid of the bodies, Vanessa had stopped feeding her cats for days, and then offers the corpses to them. After the conclusion of the Passage, Vanessa begins to live with the guilt of what she had done, and the cats, thirsty for more blood, keep watching everything she did, chasing her when she hid, making her crazy,[6] pluck the eyes of the animals and hang herself in one of the rooms. The animals, already without eyes, devoured almost all of her body.[7]

Now you know... what happened to the witch and what she did to us. We were all here, watching everything, while the kittens devoured her body almost completely. She couldn’t take the blame. All of them without eyes, devouring her body.

Devilish Mansion Voices

During his visit to the Devilish Mansion, Daniel Hartmann investigated Vanessa’s story and used it as inspiration to write the story "The Lurker".[8] This story, along with Vanessa’s coffin with the Forced Haunt Ritual Symbol transformed the creature of the story into reality, creating The Lurker.[9]

Rituals[]
