GM[1]

Nightmare is the fourth episode of The Secret in the Island. It aired on July 16, 2022.

Synopsis[]

Tormenting nightmares, shocking revelations during a rally and further investigations of the case of Constantino and Noralma leave Amelie, Bárbara, Milo, Olivier and Wanderley curious about the secrets of everyone on the island.

Summary[]

The night was terrible, and because of that, Wanderley is the first to wake up, shaken by the death of his friend. In the distance, a cry is heard and when he gets up, he can hear the sound of a echoing bell. Opening the window, Warderley sees the lighthouse, but the structure seems to be different. He’s not the only one to wake up, Amelie wakes up alone in the room, without anyone, even having slept accompanied. She hears someone banging in the closet, and as she opens it, she sees a wedding dress. Elsewhere, Bárbara wakes up at the docks next to the lighthouse door, but as soon as she decides to enter the site, she begins to hear something coming out of the water, a mysterious silhouette. Olivier also wakes up, but in his parents' room, on the floor. When he tries to leave, he hears something knocking on the closet door, and when he opens it, he sees Cavalcante, faceless. While trying to escape, he sees that the recently deceased was actually heading towards his parents. Wanderley hears the cry, goes towards it, but as he tries to approach the armchair from which the sound comes, he feels his fingers tingling and burning. Wanderley hears someone knocking behind the bookcase while the sound of someone trying to open the door is heard. He decides to go to the window, intending to jump it, being stopped by strange snakes formed by some kind of brown liquid that begin to rise. Amelie sees the wedding dress slowly take the shape of Noralma, the girl tries to run, but as she leaves her room, she sees the phantom bride alone in the hallway. The Florence meets Noralma, but stays paralyzed with fear in front of her. Olivier runs out of his parents' room and tries to scream, but no sound is emitted, he cannot speak. Several figures begin to appear going towards the boy, who is forced down the stairs, getting in front of the painting of Constantino, that seems to be watching him. The painting doesn't look normal, it looks liquid, Olivier then decides to throw himself into it in order to escape. Bárbara, now seeing two forms with maid and butler clothes coming out of the water, runs to the lighthouse, being chased upstairs. Upstairs, the girl notices that the painting of the lighthouse was half liquid, and then she enters it. Wanderley is cornered by all the creatures, and kicks one of the snakes that climbed into his bed.

So after a long night, it’s finally a new day on the island of Tipora. Bárbara and the Florence brothers wake up scared and spend time talking about their nightmares. Wanderley also wakes up and prays before leaving his room.

In other place, Milo wakes up and as always goes towards the living room, seeing Miguel sitting next to his father, that has a disappointed expression on his face, while Miguel smiles. Bartô knocks on the table, emitting a bell sound instead of a knock. Milo hears a baby crying sound coming from his father’s room and goes towards, breaking the door and entering. As Bartô gets closer and closer, Milo sees a door under the bed. Milo opens it, thus waking up from the nightmare.

After finally waking up, he meets his father, who hands him as a birthday present a machete, the same one he had stolen the day before to protect himself. They go to the room, where they talk and Milo creates courage to confront him about who Miguel is. They argue, Bartô denies everything and says he had two children, but Evandro soon arrives and interrupts, taking Bartô to the police station for questioning, and Milo then goes to his room and takes the diary he shared with Miguel.

In the mansion, Olivier and Wanderley leave their rooms, facing 3 people and a screaming at the end of the stairs. It’s Olivier’s parents and Amelie, who desperately try to calm down Mrs. Lívia, who is upset fighting with the big painting of Constantino. Everyone fights there and after a while they manage to control Lívia, who leaves the house, not before she has scratched Montel and fought with Angelina. Bárbara follows her, asking why she hides so many secrets, then the two leave the mansion while Otávio and Adrian arrive at the door.

Otávio was sent to conduct a small interrogation, beginning by interrogating Amelie. Adrian goes to the kitchen with Wanderley, so he could cook something for the family to eat.

On his house, Milo takes the diary, but can’t open it because he remembers the nightmare. The boy runs to his father’s room and breaks the door, since it was locked, soon going to check under the bed, where in place of the door that existed in his nightmare, now there is a locked chest with a large lock. The boy goes to the mansion, where he finds Bárbara and together the two go to the cliff of the island to read the diary. Bárbara cries with the texts, and says that Miguel would like Milo to read what was written in those pages. The moment doesn't last long, Bárbara sees a figure with the corner of her eyes and finds an extremely old and crumpled paper on the edge of the cliff. The note was written by whom they believe to be Tobias Conclior, one of the mansion workers at the time of using construction who was in love with Noralma. With this information, the two go to the mansion, but when they get there and talk briefly, Milo sees a figure, just like Bárbara. He ignores and everyone continues to talk about the notes they are finding.

After the clock shows 12:00 PM, Wanderley and the Florence’s parents go to the church to attend the rally, alerted earlier by Otávio and Adrian, with this, the youngers stay in the house and investigate the rooms of Cavalcante and Wanderley, but find nothing new.

Wanderley arrives at the church and sits in the back, not long after the four youngers appear and sit down, listening to side conversations and discussing the case. Evandro begins his speech that there are no monsters on this island and that the case will be solved in an explainable way. While this happens, Maíra, the church's nun, together with Evandro, blame Bartô, that in the middle of the discussion raises like a beast, with pupils of different sizes and with black veins on the face. A fight starts in the middle of the church.

After much confusion and the priest having a heart attack after seeing the painting, Bartô is calmed down and taken prisoner by Evandro. Wanderley, Amelie and Olivier stay in the church to help the collapsed priest, finding a strange door locked by large padlocks in one of the back rooms of the church. Bárbara and Milo follow the policemen, and when Evandro follows with Bartô, the two young men find papers from the autopsy of Cavalcante, thus deciding to go to Milo’s house try to open the drawer locked in his father’s room.

Amelie and Olivier go in search of Bárbara and Milo at the police station, leaving Wanderley alone with Návia and Barnabé. Wanderley talks to the two and asks to be able to pay homage to the body of his former co-worker, soon after heading to the house of Barnabé. Milo and Bárbara try to open the locked drawers in Bartô’s room, but the key does not work. Amelie and Olivier do not find who they were looking for at the police station, finding only their parents being interrogated, then go to Barnabé's house and talk to Amora, that gives two drawings to Olivier; one being the gift of Milo and the other a drawing of Milo, Olivier, Amora, Ian and Bisteca together.

Barnabé delivers the things Wanderley had asked for and they start walking back to the mansion. Everyone goes through the forest and in the end they meet, talking about everything they found that day. After much conversation, they manage to gain the trust of Wanderley, who reveals that he hid the briefcase from his former co-worker, as well as the painting that they finally create the courage to look at. A painting that even though everyone is looking together, generates a strange feeling, a tingling, but Bárbara covers the painting. Everyone is exhausted, so they decide to eat and sleep after another busy day on the island of Tipora.

Evidence Description
Constantino Moretti's partially melted painting.[2]
Leila Lima's note to Lívia Lima. Found loose in Lívia’s diary.[3]

Dear daughter
Your father and I would like to see you once more, but unfortunately it won’t be possible. At least, after Mr. Constantino was gone, he left one last gift for both of us. The most beautiful gift of all. This painting is beautiful, it makes us feel good, and kills a little of our longing for you. But we know this won’t last long, and we don’t want you getting involved in it. At least it’s like you’re here too... it’s like you’re here with us.

First page of Milo and Miguel Castello's diary, written by Milo. Found on Milo’s dresser.[4]

Second page of Milo and Miguel Castello's diary, written by Milo.[4]

Hi Mom! I don't know how to start, but Dad gave this book to us and said it was a gift you left before you had to leave. He told us to write here to talk to you, so when we meet, you know everything we lived.
I’m not very good at it, but I hope one day you can see.

Third and fourth page of Milo and Miguel Castello's diary, written by Milo.[4]

Do not be frightened by the drawing of before, but it is that in this time that you are out, I became the MOST TERRIFYING MONSTER OF ALL OCEANS!
... okay, I lied, but that would be cool
The truth is that I was born with this mark on my arm and maybe I’m a bit crazy about octopuses and the ocean.
I love it when Dad calls to help him on the fishing trip. I’m sad because he calls Miguel more. Sometimes I think Dad likes him better... but at least I have more time to use the diary and talk to you, Mom.
Me and Miguel get along very well and we love doing everything together, especially exploring ALL THE SECRETS OF OUR ISLAND!!
... ok, ok, I lied again. The island has nothing special, but even so, Miguel and I went out hiding to explore everything we can.

Fifth and sixth page of Milo and Miguel Castello's diary, written by Milo.[4]

Miguel and I don’t have many friends there, Bárbara is our best friend and she’s always up for our adventures (there’s also Pedrinho, I never really liked him, and he just likes Miguel, but I don’t care much, I’m just afraid of what Pedrinho can become.)
One very important thing about this diary: Miguel and I promised never to read each other’s diary, so I can put here all my BIG SECRETS! like being too scared to lose Miguel. I know that this never saw happening, but I’m afraid of us growing up and things not being as they are today... And ah! One secret that Miguel can not hide is that he is liking Barbara and I think very cute.
"Come here and give me a hug Milinho!"
That bearded guy is Adrian! My Second Best Friend!
Adrian is the boatman of the island. Every two days he comes here to bring some goods and take the fish that Dad fishes.
And whenever he’s here he takes the time to tell some stories about his adventures at sea. I’ve tried asking him to take us to see the world beyond here. But he said the world is too dangerous and I’m safer here.

Seventh and eighth page of Milo and Miguel Castello's diary, written by Milo.[4]

Today Adrian told me the story of the mermaid who predicted the future. It was already night, on a cold and rainy day, but he needed to go back to the city. Alone, he sailed against the sea, until he heard a cry for help near him. Confused and desperate, Adrian approached what appeared to be a woman. The woman was on her back and completely lost. When Uncle Adrian touched her to try to help, the girl turned towards him. Uncle Adrian said he’d never seen anything so scary in his life. The woman had no face, instead of her face was an empty hole, with her arms on the uncle’s face, forcing him to look at her. Adrian said he saw This/these word(s) is/are censoredThis/these word(s) is/are censored and after seeing all that, the mermaid was no longer there. He never told what he saw. This/these word(s) is/are censoredThis/these word(s) is/are censored. Even Miguel, who likes Adrian’s horror stories, was afraid of this one. (ME TOO!)

Ninth and tenth page of Milo and Miguel Castello's diary, written by Milo.[4]

DAD FINALLY TOLD ME A STORY!!!
Dad doesn’t tell many stories, but today he told me the story of the fish that no one has ever been able to fish. he is not an ordinary fish, this fish takes the form of his greatest fear! Some say they have seen gigantic creatures, sea monsters...
If I found this fish I think I would see myself drowning alone in the sea, or maybe Miguel. I just don’t like being alone. I HATE BEING ALONE. I’ve tried to think what Miguel would come up with if he found this fish... I don’t know, it seems he’s not afraid of anything. Barbara would surely come a werewolf or something, she’s terrified of these things.

Eleventh page of Milo and Miguel Castello's diary, written by Miguel.[4]

DANGER
DON’T DARE BREAK THE AGREEMENT
Property - Miguel

Twelfth page of Milo and Miguel Castello's diary, written by Miguel.[4]

Hi!
Well, Dad gave us this diary so we could talk to Mom when we were lonely. I know very well that Mom is gone, but I don’t talk about it much with Milo, because he is more sensitive with these things, and still thinks he will find her. hm... well I wish I had that hope. I don’t know how to use it, but I think Milo will enjoy it a lot. And if journaling with his brother is what’s gonna make him happy, that’s exactly what I’m gonna do.
Ass: Miguel

Thirteenth and fourteenth page of Milo and Miguel Castello's diary, written by Miguel.[4]

Today Dad took us fishing. Milo was super excited to try and catch his first fish.
At the first attempt, Milo managed to catch a fish. But the fish was so heavy that Dad had to try to catch it. Everyone was surprised and eager to see what Milo had caught. When Dad finally managed to pull the stick, we discovered that Milo had thrown the bait that got stuck in a branch.
MILO’S FIRST FISH WAS A STICK
Poor thing, he was very sad, but in the end everyone laughed. including Dad.
I finally managed to get the diary, Milo has been with it for days, always writing before going to bed. He loved it here, Dad did well.
Today I made a deal with Milo, and we won’t be able to read each other’s diary. We don’t have any secrets, but I know Milo prefers not to share some things.
By the way, today I saw him drawing this on the cover of the diary. I loved it.

Fifteenth and sixteenth page of Milo and Miguel Castello's diary, written by Miguel.[4]

Today Barbara gave me a daisy as a gift! I hope she didn’t notice how embarrassed I was. But I wondered why she gave me this gift... Would she also - Nah, I don’t think so. I wish I could give her a gift too. If I could draw like Milo... maybe I could get him to make a drawing of her to me. Bad idea, so he’ll find out I like her. Shame, bye, see you tomorrow!
Today I finally managed to tune the banjo, I missed playing. I keep telling Milo to learn, but he says he’ll never be able to play like me. Oh, oh. How stubborn, I wanted him to see the way I see him. (And if by chance you break the agreement and read this, know that you are amazing, brat, I love you)

Tobias F. Conclior's old note to Noralma Moretti. Found in the grass next to the cliff stool on the back of Moretti's Mansion.[5]

Noralma I can no longer hold this feeling inside me. I know Constantino has always been kimd to me but the hearch is treatherous and I’m in lovv with you. All the hours we spent together alone on that cliff with you teathing me to read and write with so much affection clearly meant something more and I know you know that too! You asked them to put the stool there so we’d be more comfortable there.
I decided that the best way to reveal my fiilings would be through what allowed us to be together: a letter I can only write because of you.
I await your response, anchious! TC

Noralma Moretti's decorated note to Rayssa Gama. Found in the office on the first floor of Moretti's Mansion.[6]

Miss Rayssa, I’d like to plan the installation of a cliff bench in the back of the mansion, behind the forest.
It turns out that after one of the employees showed me the place, I was glimpsed! Besides being very quiet to study, the place has a beautiful landscape to see.

I can’t wait for the moment when our plans will finally come to fruition. I thank God for every moment I have with you, and I am happier than ever to be able to build our family. Once you drop this job, as promised, things will be even more perfect than they already are. I feel a little sorry for leaving my brother alone on the island, but I know I can’t tie myself to it forever. I’m happy with our decision, and that’s enough.
We will be happy together as we always dreamed, and we will never be alone.
