The Needy[1]
The Needy Creature, or just The Needy, is a creature of Blood with complement of Death,[2] fruit of Daniel Hartmann's book, "Tales of a Needy Creature", about a creature that devours internal organs of women who were mothers thanks to its envy of beings that receive love even before they are born.[3]
One of the Needy’s manifestations occurred after Leonardo Gomes was deconjured, leaving only Denis Batista's empty body in the place, that quickly turned on the creature. However, soon after the creature entered into a confrontation with Tristan Monteiro and Erin Parker, running away to the sewers.[4]
This creature was mentioned during the seasons The Paranormal Order,[5] The Secret in the Forest,[6] and Paranormal Order: Deconjuration.[4] However, it only had its official appearance in Paranormal Order: Calamity, while Team Vultures were investigating the "Child of The Devil" in the "Prologue", where it was killed by Antônio Pontevedra.[7]
Appearance[]

This creature presents itself as a boy in the age of 8, who has cut brown hair and has no face, having only an empty space full of cuts with his internal flesh crawling inside where his face should be. He wears black shorts and a blue T-shirt with a print of a family of three bears. In addition to all this, his spine is crooked, since Denis suffered from a severe case of scoliosis.

After being invited into an enclosure, it becomes a giant disturbing monster in the range of 9.84 feet and with a body of a bloody insectoid with several arms all over its body, those who have hands and claws of different types, with 4 pairs of arms and two legs. Its head is flattened, with a face vaguely resembling that of a mosquito, having a large stinger in the middle of its face that comes out of a skeletal mouth with several teeth. Accompanied by this, it has 4 bright red eyes. Behind its head it comes two tentacles with thorns, having a flesh-like appearance and texture that extend to the sides of its head and loosen to the sides of the stinger. What was once the child’s body now hangs in the air with its head completely torn open, being hung from a large tentacle that comes from behind the head of its monstrous body, resembling a bait. This creature can still return to its normal state whenever it wants.[8]
Behaviour[]
The Needy is a brutal creature, however, without the ability to open doors. Therefore, the monster assumes its childish silhouette, knocking behind doors and repeating in a child’s voice variations of the question "Mommy?" incessantly trying to get the attention of those who live in the place. The Needy usually manifests itself to those who are going through the process of pregnancy or have already passed at some point in their life, to feed on the love of others since it itself was never loved. If someone opens the door to The Needy, it gradually reveals its true form, abandoning its initial childish form.
The Needy is extremely agile even with its large size, being able to move with long jumps and considerable speed, and if it is necessary to go through enclosed spaces, it will return to the child form and expand quickly as soon as possible. This creature does not appear to be intelligent attacking without discrimination anyone who gets too close to its multiple members.
History[]
The Needy is a monster present in the horror stories book of Daniel Hartmann named "Tales of a Needy Creature". In the main tale of the book, it's described a creature that specifically attacked pregnant women and fed on their babies. This was due to the fact that The Needy would never be loved and thus was envious of these babies who were not even born but were already loved by their mothers.[3]
The Tale of the Needy Creature - incomplete[]
"'Mom?' is the only word it needed to understand. A single simulated word, capable of opening so many doors. Doors it could never open. Some ancient legends tell that only those who were loved are allowed by God to open doors, so lonely vampires could only be invited and hated ___ crucifixes."
"Maternal love transcends physical barriers. The so intense, so compelling feelings of a mother for her child can arise even before he is born. A slight movement within the uterus is able even to change the complexion of a mother. Some parents, even in rare situations, can also love the one who has not even finished to form. The purest, most intense love. It was all it needed. To feel love at least once."
"But how could something that was never born be loved? It didn’t have a mother. It never felt love. All it had was emptiness. The emptiness on its face, the lack in its existence, the cursed fury."
"And so it adapted. It learned to hunt love, to devour love. If it cannot awaken love in others, at least it can taste the love of others."
"But it was never loved. Much less allowed by God. It is the son of the Devil, hatred incarnate, and it does not want to be invited. It does not want to be cherished. It seeks only to devour the love of those who could have loved it unconditionally."
"And it just needs you to open the door."

Cases[]
Denis Batista[]
Denis Batista, a child admitted to Santa Matilda Hospital for having severe scoliosis, was eventually kidnapped by Luciano Carvalho and taken to Dante and Leonardo Gomes, for both of them to perform what he thought was a ritual to save the life of his husband. During this process, Dante transfers and merges several minds and bodies leaving Denis’s body empty, which when exposed to the extremely fragile veil of the place where he was, ends up being possessed by a paranormal entity.[4] It quickly runs away from this place, but ends up meeting with the agent Tristan Monteiro and Beatrice Portinari, that even being a civilian, helped in the monster fight. It then runs to the sewer and remains on the outskirts of São Paulo murdering pregnant women.[15] After a while, this creature was summoned by The Devil at Bariguara in the interior of Mato Grosso, where it, now revealed as The Needy, meets again its summoner at Elza Verlaz's house, and is subsequently killed by Antônio Pontevedra.[7]
Holy Cradle Hotel[]
The Needy also inhabited the surroundings of Holy Cradle, being mentioned by The Hotelier like a child walking down the halls of his hotel asking for his mother, knocking on doors at night in case someone heard him, and warning the members of Team H to just ignore it and continue to sleep.[6] It never showed up during that period.
Trivia[]
- The original idea of Deconjuration's ending was to introduce The Needy as the last monster of the season, with Kian opening the door to it.[16]
- In compensation, during the event r/place 2023, as a reward for the community having built a giant art of The Needy, Cellbit showed the battle theme song at the time of Deconjuration, with more instruments composing the song, new guitar solos and parts of the music referring to others. He also told that the original theme song was one of the first musics, along with The Mark of Kian and Deconjuration's opening, to be composed.
- The Needy has three theme songs: "Mommy?" "Don't Open the Door" and "The Needy".
