The Gatekeeper

The Gatekeeper was a Lusidii and one of several inhabitants of Holy Cradle, responsible for sighting from his Tower every time ignarii approach the village and presenting the place to the newcomers. Prior to that, he was raised by his father, Blacksmith, as a Source, kept in a room marked with the Spiral Symbol for most of of his life, until his mother, The Blacksmith, set him free.

The Gatekeeper made his first appearance in the 9th episode of The Secret in the Forest, jumping from the large wooden arch and receiving the Team H. He ended up dying in the 14th episode, sacrificing himself so that Team H could reach the Infinite Labyrinth, being executed in a public square, having his head cut off by the Blacksmith's sword.

Appearance

The Gatekeeper was a slender man with black hair, who like all the inhabitants of the village of Holy Cradle, had grayish skin, completely black eyes, pointed ears and stripes on his face, which in his case, were a stripe that started at both eyes and curved down to the cheek region, and a third stripe that started at the mouth and went down to the chin. He wore a brown vest over a white shirt, dark pants, and shoes with white bands.

Personality

The Gatekeeper has shown himself to be quite innocent, friendly and affable, acting in a very friendly manner and being willing to introduce Holy Cradle to outsiders. It was later discovered that The Gatekeeper was responsible for the murders that occurred in the village, being able to kill his best friends to complete his plan and get the attention of Team H. Still, after the whole truth is revealed, he is willing to to serve as bait for the agents to enter the infinite labyrinth and destroy the "Holy".

Biography

Past

The Gatekeeper was born in Holy Cradle, the son of Blacksmith and Blacksmith. It was created as an energy source to power Holy Cradle, through an entity called "The Holy". For most of his life, he was kept locked in an empty room, with only an appointment from the Spiral Symbol on the walls. It created a kind of intrinsic connection to him, even leading him to believe that this was all the universe that mattered. Inside, his mother taught him everything he needed to know, but even after leaving for the outside world, he realized that he couldn't feel comfortable away from the Symbol, it was already embedded in his mind and whenever he could, drawing it until he felt relieved. The Secret in the Forest

Already integrated into the community, he received the name of "The Gatekeeper", and was in charge of warning in case there was an approach of ignarii in the city and of receiving them at the gate. Occasionally, he was also tasked with carrying out the Pilgrimage and summoning residents of Carpazinha to the community in the forest, one of them being Murilo from Carpazinha Hotel, who ended up becoming Collector and one of his best friends, along with Helper. Because he felt that much of his life was a lie, he developed an intrinsic hatred of everything related to the Holy Cradle, but realized that due to the influence of the Black Crystal on the Lusidii, his only hope for freeing his brothers would have to come from outside. Thus, when he saw investigators Thiago Fritz, Elizabeth Webber, Joui Jouki, Cesar Cohen and Arthur Cervero approaching the gate, beyond knowing the fear they seemed to bring in Blacksmith, he began to bond with them to free all Lusidii from that hell once and for all.

Upon the Group's arrival in the village, The Gatekeeper welcomes them with open arms ready to answer any question and lead them to his Leader, lying about various things, including about cigarettes, making the night come very earlier than usual and making the city angrier. Following his plan, when The Helper ran to Blacksmithing, he took the opportunity he had been waiting for so long, went to Blacksmithing and murdered him, putting fragments of Green Crystals in his mouth so as not to feel any pain, and next to the body leaving the symbol and the word "Source" next to it. The next day the body of his other best friend, the Collector, was found dead in the same way as The Helper, slumped in the Trial Woods over the Blacksmith's tree stump, with his throat slit and shards of crystals in his mouth. mouth. The Gatekeeper disappears after that, not ringing the tower bell that same day.

After arriving at the Door at the bottom of the Mine accompanied by Miner, the group sees what appears to be a black square that fits perfectly for the card Crazy Gramps used. When putting it in, everyone hears a mechanical noise and a square on the side of the door lights up, showing the symbol with 15 smaller symbols in green LED, with a robotic voice saying: "Welcome, Blacksmith". The Miner with the commands to take the group to the location of the fourth type of crystal, trying to turn them into part of the city, he hears someone scratching the huge rock, discovering it to be The Gatekeeper, drawing the Spiral Symbol on the stone with a bloodstained knife. During the betrayal and fight against that giant, he strangely fights in their favor, trying to prevent them from touching the Crystal.

After the end of the hard fight against The Miner, he is confronted by the group about the murders, assuming that he really killed them both, summarizing the village's relationship with the Holy and revealing his goal to destroy Holy Cradle and free everyone from the lies and of the entity's suffering, even if he and everyone else dies as well.

In his probable last hours of life, he helps the group to open the door and, after a big discussion, he decides to sacrifice himself so that the ignarii can reach the Infinite Labyrinth, turning himself in and being executed in a public square, having his head cut off by the sword of Blacksmith.

Trivia

• The Gatekeeper had the habit of sitting at the top of his tower and drawing and cataloging various animals he saw around.
