The Blacksmith[1]

The Blacksmith was a Lusidii and one of the several residents of Holy Cradle, being responsible for acting as leader of the village and forging metal objects. His true identity is Miguel Cariad, former member of Team Kelvin, who left everything to live in Holy Cradle.

The Blacksmith first appeared in the 9th episode of The Secret in the Forest, out of one of the Smithy's doors and meeting with The Gatekeeper along with Team H.[2] He died during the 16th episode, getting shot by Elizabeth Webber while trying to convince Team H to not destroy Holy Cradle.[3]

Appearance[]

The Blacksmith was a tall and strong man, more than 6.56 feet tall, with white hair and beards, who, like all the inhabitants of the village of Holy Cradle, had gray skin, completely black eyes, pointed ears and stripes on his face, that in his case were a stripe that began in both eyes and descended bowing a little to the region of the cheeks, and another that came out of his nose and rose by the head. He wore a chestplate and metal bracelets, a red cloth on his waist, brown pants, sashes on his legs, black socks and brown slippers. He had burns on his arms and partially on his face. From under his chest he hid a big Spiral Symbol on his chest.

Personality[]

The Blacksmith was very friendly and friendly, having a good relationship with both the Lusidii and eventual Ignarii. Although confused and cornered, he tended to remain calm and try to work things out in dialogue between his companions. In cases where he changes, he seeks to resume his firm position as soon as possible.

Deep down, he was a stubborn and somewhat cruel man, keeping the Sources locked to maintain the peace of the village and the stability of Holy Cradle.

Biography[]

Past[]

The Blacksmith, born as "Miguel Cariad", was an Ordo Realitas agent that joined the Order at 18, with his friends, Kenan Thomas and Mariana Larona, in which they formed Team Kelvin. During the investigation of the "Project HC" in Carpazinha, Miguel meets Laura, a woman who ends up taking him and his team to the middle of the forest, arriving at Holy Cradle.

After Miguel separates from his team and stays 2 weeks in the town, he ends up developing a romantic interest in the Blacksmith and making friends with some of the local Lusidii. After his team comes back and they decide to finish the place, he marks the Spiral Symbol on his chest and heads towards the Holy Cradle Cavern. Upon entering a fight against the Blacksmith and realizing that he would destroy all that place, Miguel makes an extreme decision, betraying his team and killing Mariana Larona, being hit by a Molotov Cocktail thrown by Kenan Thomas, who is soon afterwards trapped in one of the cells of Holy Cradle.

In the following years, Miguel becomes the Blacksmith’s Helper and has children with her, who are imprisoned in the center of the Labyrinth to serve as Sources, in order to feed the entity called by them of "The Holy". The Blacksmith ends up releasing one of them, which eventually becomes The Gatekeeper.

After the Blacksmith dies of pneumonia, he takes the role and leads the village.

The Secret in the Forest[]

Years later, the Gatekeeper spots Liz, Thiago, Joui, Arthur and Cesar approaching the village.[4] The Lusidii recognizes them as a big threat to Holy Cradle by identifying Arnaldo Fritz's son, Thiago Fritz and Arthur Cervero, from the show where he met Laura. So, he uses his weeks' advantage to create a strategy that will convince them to touch the Black Crystal.

When Team H enters the gate, the Gatekeeper guides them to the Smithy, where the community leader presents the place to the ignarii. During the guided tour, Thiago lights a lighter, which makes the Night fall. As soon as the group gets rid of the creatures, they all return to the Smithy, where they find The Helper dead. When the Blacksmith sees the drawn symbol and the word "Source" written next to the body, he suspects that this may be the work of one of his children, but realizes that he can do nothing about it without the members of the Order discovering the truth about the Holy Cradle.[5] Knowing that one of the springs has fled the Labyrinth and has attacked the Farm animals, the Blacksmith puts Team H to hunt him down. The ignarii kill the spring, but the Blacksmith gets surprised when The Collector appears dead under his log in the woods, in a clear threat to him.[6] Desperate to control Team H at once, and curious to see if they could open the door inside the Mine, the Blacksmith sends the five, accompanied by The Miner, to explore the Holy Cradle Mines.[7]

He waits for the group to leave, but when he finds the Gatekeeper circling the village, he soon creates a ritual to sacrifice him. With the death of the spring, the Blacksmith realizes that there is something sinister architecting there. He decides to enter the Labyrinth, searching for Team H.[8] Eventually, he finds them trying to explode the heart that sustains Holy Cradle. He desperately appeals to them not to do so, for if they do, all Lusidii will die. Even so, the team doesn't give up and confronts the Blacksmith. As it is a one-on-five battle, the leader of Holy Cradle is easily defeated and, as one last action, he grabs Thiago’s shoulders and begs them to understand what he fights for and the consequences of destroying the town. But before he can finish, Liz executes him with a shot on the back.[3]

Shortly after his death, the Blacksmith’s body is taken by the black ooze of the cave and he ends up becoming The God of Death.[9] The creature attacks the team and ends up being destroyed by Thiago, who explodes with the creature.

Arsenal[]

Consuming Sword A huge blade adorned with black stones on its red handle. Described as one of the most beautiful weapons of the smithy, this sword can be considered a cursed object and for a long time remained guarded until it was again used by the Blacksmith after the death of The Helper.[10][11]
