Synopsis[]

The time has come. Chico, Guizo, Lírio, Xande and Morato begin the last phase of the TV Varminho's Tower investigation and the rescue of Dara. But things may not be as simple as that, and the goal of the being who heads it all can be a very difficult choice for the group to make.

Summary[]

The Four finally reunited with Morato. Before he explains about what happened to him, Chico and Lírio try to analyze him to see if he may have turned into an alien. Soon after, Morato is asked about what happened, saying that he began to have memory lapses and that he knew that there were some aliens at the Zucchini Farm, being happy to know that the group managed to neutralize them. He asks about how to get the other people out of the capsules, starting to walk through the rooms. Chico says that Vicente and Jerson are also on the fourth floor, asking to release them before. They then head to the capsule 4-A2, and Chico uses his keyboard to access the terminal. He enters the password "1992" and the capsule reacts. Lírio punches the glass, allowing the exit of Jerson, who wonders about the people around, not knowing where he is. Soon after, Chico heads to the capsule 4-A1, while the rest of the group begins to investigate the entire room. Xande finds a sheet talking about the TV Varminho Project, talking about psychiatric and medical analyzes and psychological reactions by exposure to the signals transmitted by the object, while Guizo finds another note with sad feelings in the written words. When entering the password "QUEIJOS (CHEESE)", Chico misses and a red light appears on the capsule. After typing "GORGONZOLA", the capsule reacts and the group joins to break its glass. After breaking it, they save Vicente, who wonders what is happening. The rest of the group continues talking about what happened to the group during the investigation, and Guizo and Xande continue exploring using the camera, realizing that in the camera lens, the whole floor is covered by the green liquid slime. He starts to move the camera around the room, until he looks at the ceiling, and when he looks up through the camera, he is surprised by a huge aliens who jumps on him.

Xande begins to try to grope the creature that is not visible from the camera, and uses one of his Blood rituals to damage it. Guizo tries to use his Mental Blast on the creature, but itis immune to the element of Knowledge, but not to the bullets that Morato fires with his machine gun. The creature tries to take down Lírio, but without success, while Chico analyzes the creature, managing to identify it as a Rasthropod. The little one asks for some kind of powder or flour for Jerson and Vicente, and Vicente manages to find a handful of pizza flour in his pockets. Xande and Lírio try to hold the creature, but unable to see where it is, they fail. However, Morato advances excusing himself for the two and throwing several stab wounds at the creature, which retaliates against the leader. Guizo takes a handful of ashes and makes the creature slower, while Chico throws the flour in the direction of the Rasthropod, which is permanently visible to the group. Xande lands one more hit on the creature and Lírio pulls Leonora to strike it, giving it good damage. Morato releases his knife and grabs his machine gun, continuing to strafe the creature that still resists a little, but gets to pieces. Along with the whole group, Morato deals the last blows that disintegrate the creature. After the fight, the group begins to treat his injuries and returns to investigate the room.

Guizo and Xande continue to investigate the other rooms, finding more documents about the TV Varminho Project, while Chico talks with Jerson and Vicente, saying that they will be good friends. Upon returning to the investigation, the group sees information about trying to understand a kind of object that emitted paranormal signals and frequencies, but without success. Morato returns from another room, showing the access card to the fifth floor, which Chico negotiates for his ID card. They then head to the elevator, realizing there is no button for the sixth floor. They enter and go to the fifth floor. During the crossing, they talk a little, until the elevator stops. When the door opens, they find themselves in a huge and disproportionate place, with a desk with a computer and several forks. They are surprised that the floor is clearly much larger and do not understand how this can fit in a building. The group begins to walk to the computer, realizing that it has a very different code. Guizo starts to use it, managing to make him have a new perspective on his camera. Suddenly, the elevator behind them closes and descends, without anyone touching the buttons. The group begins to walk through the rooms, and the elevator returns to the floor, revealing seven men in suits, armed. Morato says he can hold them and starts shooting back, while the group continues walking.

Chico guides everyone through the maze, walking several times in circles and seeing many times Morato shooting men in suits, getting along very well with the situation. They reach a dark room, and as Xande begins to enter, the light from the room begins to turn red. It turns green later and he starts walking in the room. She turns red again and Xande, sensing something, stops in place. The light turns green again and he keeps walking, but he gets careless and walks a little more when the light turns red. After a second failed attempt, he manages to walk in the rhythm of the lights and reaches the end, finding a key and a tape with the name "Telepsy". He comes back with the group and they continue walking, until they reach a room with several holes. Strangely, they feel it would be a great idea to throw yourself at them. However, they are interrupted by an alarm somewhere else. Lírio recognizes it as a car alarm, and Chico recognizes it even more as an alarm from a beetle. They return on the way, entering a door on the left and encountering a blue color Beetle. Suddenly, everyone starts beating each other inevitably. Several punches, slaps and kicks are thrown between the whole group, and Chico, Guizo and Xande can resist this urge to hit, unlike Lírio who continues to hit inexplicably without having control of his body. After punching Guizo, he decides to close his eye and manages to resist this will. The group also helps Jerson and Vicente to disengage, and soon after, continue to walk through the maze. They return to the hole room, and Lírio tries to throw himself into one of the holes, disappearing into the immensity of the hole. 10 seconds pass and Lírio falls on the front path, hurting a little, while the others follow the path, taking care not to fall. They follow straight and enter a new room, with several species of cocoons in the room, with silhouettes inside them. Chico begins to investigate the cocoons, managing to identify the symbols of the aliens on a kind of keyboard. However, he also realizes that all cocoons are randomly distributed, which means that a much more thorough investigation should be done.

During the investigation, the group manages to find some of the specific cocoons, but realizing that there is no indication of what to do to free them. Chico tries to enter any password for the cocoon of Edimeia, but missing and seeing several symbols flashing in the cocoon, besides no longer being possible to type something in its terminal. The group then decides to walk back into the maze, and soon after, they enter a different room, with white walls and office cabinets hanging upside down. As they venture through this room, Chico sees an open drawer and notices the access card to the sixth floor at the bottom of it. He tries to get the card, but almost has his hand cut by the drawer that closes quickly. Another drawer opens and Xande goes to it along with Lírio, using his Chaotic Polarization to remove the card easily. The two argue a little and Chico gets angry, leaving in a shot to the elevator. Lírio tries to calm him, talking about the situation of Edimeia, but is scolded by the little one. The group gathers again and continues walking through the maze, finding a totally dark room, without even the flashlight working. Chico is the first to walk and disappears into darkness. He realizes that he can’t see anything and that he can’t hear anything, but sees an exit to the left and the door where he entered behind. He tries to pull Lírio out successfully, and the two talk about what to do to get back. Xande and Guizo also enter, pulling Vicente and Jerson, and then they decide to take the left exit. The group leaves the room, coming across a new door. Following the path, they meet the room of red and green lights, realizing that they have turned around and that it can be easy to find their way back. However, they come across a new dark room. Upon entering, they hear a strange sound and decide to leave. Chico tries to touch the floor of the room, noticing human blood. Continuing to walk down the hall, they notice a dead end, but realize that one of the walls on the left side looks very strange. Xande touches it and it looks translucent. He sticks his head in the middle of the door and manages to find the way out, seeing Morato knocking down another man in a suit. The group reunites with Morato, who had killed several of the men, and he asks to guide him through the maze to find the exit. They walk a little further, passing through the cabinets' room again and turning on a corner, finding their way to a new elevator. The Four also mention about the Telepsy, which Morato asks to see the tape and shrapnel it, destroying it and saying that they do not want to know what this tape is about.

The group enters the elevator and inserts the access card. The elevator begins to move. The mood is tense and strange. The elevator starts going up, going down, going left, going right, moving in illogical ways. It suddenly stops. The elevator door opens and the group comes across the corridor. The corridor that Guizo and Chico have seen before. A long, green corridor, full of cables and an adorned door. In this corridor, several boards glued to the wall with the symbols of the aliens. Guizo notices his camera turning pure noise, saying that this is where he had that vision. Chico, Morato, Jerson and Vicente also say they have memories of this place somehow, while Xande begins to scour the corridor trying to open all the doors, but without success. The further the group progresses, they realize that everything begins to corrupt, to merge, as if something from the front door is corrupting them. They arrive at the front door at the end of the corridor, with Morato asking if everyone is ready. They make a battle cry and touch the door, which begins to open automatically. It opens fully, revealing a fully modified room, with multiple monitors on two tables and the main one: the bell-shaped ship, plus several capsules ahead. They begin searching all the capsules, searching for Dara’s, with Xande going to the last capsule on the right and feeling that there is no way: this is Dara’s capsule. Morato also notices an open capsule, with several cables forming a silhouette of someone who was here. Chico tries to enter the monitor system, resisting the signals. He sees information from what appears to be four sentences and information from the capsules, seeing that in Dara’s, it shows that she is still alive and that she is connected to the bell. He can also understand what happens in the system: all the capsules are connected to the bell, in a neural network that tries to understand the people within them. They serve a greater purpose, they are protected. They will not be attacked. And the only way to open these capsules is to understand the sentences. Chico remembers about the information that William Bonantos had given it to him in his mind, and tells the group that she is safe and that she is serving a greater purpose. Morato questions what these symbols are, and Chico realizes that Dara’s capsule has no sentence. He then says that William proposed that they help them and that they enter the impossible city.

The group then gathers to help Chico translate the symbols; in the first, they try to translate, getting "Name of someone chosen", and thinking about that sentence and Dara’s situation, they decide to type the name of the companion. When they do that, the capsule on the left end opens. By translating the second to something like "Name of the director of the TV", Chico insert the name of the director of TV Varminho, Diego Granteros. Another capsule opens, but suddenly Morato, Jerson and Vicente begin to feel a strong headache, as if they were remembering something. And that’s where everyone feels their worst feeling: they remembered the lie. It’s like their brains are begging them not to look back, and no one is behind, and no one is real. To what extent can lies protect us? To what extent is it able to hide the Reality from itself? The answer to this question has now arrived: there is no hiding.

It is here.

They tried not to think that it existed. But it’s inevitable: they’re seeing. The presence of that being is unbelievable. Chico and Lírio’s mind are attached to everything that is chaotic. It is real. Morato gets shocked with the vision, but returns to focus on the mission, asking them to enter the capsules as soon as possible. He tries to calm Chico and returns his directions to the being, which continues to advance. He uses a ritual, transforming into something with multiple veins around the body, while the rest of the Four continue trying to translate the sentences to be able to access the capsules, with Lírio already entering one of the capsules. One of the capsules turns red after the group misses one of the translations, but when they translate the question "What do we seek?" and insert the answer "Object + Negation + Place + Possible", another capsule opens. Chico, Guizo and Xande, seeing the situation, begin to argue about who should stay to try to protect people. They see the creature melting Morato to only green plasma, and the three agree to leave Xande out. Chico and Guizo enter the capsules, while the being is ahead of Xande. The skater tries to move against the creature, but its presence freezes him. To the being, Xande is an ant. A despicable creature. There is no more lying. It is the sovereign truth. He perceives a symbol taking his mind. A message. A signal. The creature begins to send orders to Xande. It asks Xande to attack and soon after, to rip out his tongue. He tries, but to no avail. The creature asks Xande to kneel and attack himself again. While all this happens, Xande begins to have memories of the good times he had with The Five, but that are unexisted by the creature asking him to forget. The creature touches his head and Xande begins to forget everything: all the people he met, all the songs he heard, all the tastes he felt, everything. He is empty. He is nobody. His body begins to melt, his blood begins to bubble, there is no understanding of what is happening. Who he must have been before was perhaps a horrible person to have such a brutal ending. His remains, acid, memories and everything that once existed remain on the ground. The story of Xande ends.

The remaining three, in the capsules, begin to feel: everything is the signal, everything is the transmission. They are connected. They see themselves in the tower, with the bell floating. They seem to be in the same place, but only the three are present. The three run to the elevator, which descends alone. They come up to the fourth floor lab, noticing various silhouettes that look like people. Everything are signals, everything are transmissions. They hear the silhouettes saying that "The Chosen is at the Door", and the three continue walking around the place, with the silhouettes accompanying their movement. As they cross through another door, they finally see what they came for. They see Dara. The three realize that she is apathetic, staring at the wall that should be the symbol of the station, but now has a huge door, with a huge symbol in front. Dara says that she understood everything, that she realized about everything, that she knows the purpose. She knows about the bell, she knows the signals, everything they want, she knows everything. She knows she needs to go there. The silhouettes continue to speak in unison, saying that all are one, that all are destined to become one thing. Something greater, something better. Lírio and Chico say that Xande soon comes to meet with the group, but Dara says that only one can pass through the passage. The silhouettes in unison speak the name Tenebris, and that only one person can pass into the primordial manifestation of Reality. She says that she is the one, and that she must be the one to pass. The three are very surprised at Dara’s behavior, and question why she wants this choice, and she explains that she has no other choice now that they are without Morato and without Xande. The Four feel a choice within them: they must perform the Passage to attain the Infinite, but only one person can pass. The more time they spend, the more they understand: they have all been chosen. But everyone knows that this choice is a sacrifice and that the freedom of this choice is a paradox. Would they be free enough to choose to abandon their own freedom? Lírio, Chico and Guizo realize that this place has transformed Dara, although she still has her essence, but understand that this is her choice, but that she should make this choice thinking about the group. Thinking of the Five. Thinking of Xande. Thinking of Morato. Thinking of everything. It’s time for the choice. Would Dara be brave to answer the call and abandon who she is?

The group can not enter into a consensus to define who will enter, but Chico gives up the idea. They see a passage opening behind them, showing a choice: enter the Passage or return to the normal world. Chico decides to return to the normal world, and Lírio follows him, because Guizo asked to talk to Dara alone. The two stay at the transmission site talking about Guizo finally getting what he wanted: to be in touch with things in more ways than he could figure out. The aliens, the paranormal, everything. He says this might be his best chance, and Dara understands what he wants. She knows that it all has more to do with him. The door opens. Guizo decides to enter it, but not before giving Dara a hug. The two hug, and Dara sees Guizo entering the passage, abandoning everything he is. She then enters the other passage and returns to the normal world.

In the normal world, Chico manages to feel all the pain, his bones crackling, everything. His ears begin to return to normal, as if he was still learning to listen. How long did he stay with his eyes closed? That’s when he opens them, he sees something unimaginable: a blonde man, with tattoos on his face and hand, wearing a blue suit, another person, using red clothes, analyzing the bell, and other person, analyzing a capsule on the other side.

And it's here that Signals from the Other Side ends.

Project "TV Varminho" - CONFIDENTIAL
Psychiatric and Medical Analysis - Psychological Reactions to Constant Exposure to the Object Transmitted Signals
Difficulty in communication and verbal and written comprehension, memory loss, reports of constant hallucinations.
Some plausible conclusions based on these reactions:
The sightings of "unidentified flying objects" are caused by the psychological effects of exposure to the signals emitted by the object, are perceptual hallucinations. The behavior and hallucinations seem to be shared by those affected, containing reports with specific descriptions consistent among several groups without prior communication.
