Ryder Staten[1]
Ryder Staten is a former American SWAT agent who, along with other agents, founded a group of mercenaries against the paranormal that worked in the United States called Hell Hunters. He and his group were summoned to Brazil after a Paranormal state of emergency decree because of Kian's returnal as a Marked.[2]
Appearance[]
Ryder has faded blonde hair and dark green eyes, along with a scar on the left side of his face near his chin.[3] His skin is clear and has age marks, although he has relatively defined muscles.
He wears a tactical suit, with a heavy military vest, plus camouflage pants and gloves. In his left ear he has a bug, plus a communicator on his shoulder; on his neck he wears an army platelet necklace.[2]
Biography[]
Past[]
Little is known about Ryder's past, but among the known information, it is known that around the 90s, he was saved by Mr. Verity from a criature of Energy and Blood; it was this combat that originated the burn scar he has on his neck and part of his face.[3]
Calamity[]
Ryder Staten and his group, Hell Hunters, were called to Brazil by Mr. Verity to assist the Ordo Realitas against the Escribes after a state of emergency was declared due to Kian becoming a Marked.[2] They settle in the Order's base until the massacre of the Famiglia Leone occurs in Italy, when they, along with agents of the Order, Obscurité and the survivors of the Famiglia Leone, go to the scene in an attempt to stop the Escribes, making Leone's Mansion a temporary base.[4]
With Team Vultures going on a mission to The Colosseum, Ryder mobilizes his agents to act as soon as called and,[5] after the agents open the passage to Semper Clausa, they invade the Colosseum. Ryder and four more Hell Hunters (Jason Bloom, Karen Brown, Roy Stevens and Troy Walker) enter the Ordo Calamitas Ruins and, by orders from Verity, they set up guard at the entrance.[6] Inside they find a few Escribes and clash, some Hell Hunters were lost in that engagement.[7]
After that, Ryder and the remaining Hell Hunters in Colosseum, detect movement of more Escribes in the upper part of The Colosseum. They regroup with the remaining agents of the Order, the Obscurité and the Leone in the Hall of Statues of the Host, in front of Semper Clausa and, after a speech by Mr. Verity, they climb the stairs of the arena and enter into open combat with the Escribes.[8] Ryder and his companions fight a tough fight alongside Obscurité and together defeat two teams of Escribes. He gets knocked down once by an Energy ritual, but is saved by Roy Stevens, surviving the war and coming out victorious against Kian's army.[9]
Relationships[]
- Mr. Verity: They are longtime friends and have participated in several missions together. The leader of the Order already saved his life against a creature of Energy and Blood.[3]
- Roy Stevens: His teammate and best friend. He was concerned to see Roy falling in the war against the Escribes.[10]
