This page aims to provide a consistent style guide for all pages of the official Paranormal Order wiki. The guidelines presented here have been discussed and voted on, and should be followed when there are doubts about the formatting of the pages.

Although Wikipedia already provides a more comprehensive style guide, this guide is necessary to meet the basic guidelines of this wiki. However, basic concepts can be consulted there.

Notability[]

The pages are only allowed in the main domain if they fit the following criteria. Pages that do not meet the criteria may be deleted without prior notice.

  1. Pages should contain enough information to justify a full page. If they lack sufficient content, they should be merged with other similar pages.
  2. Pages must be directly related to the Paranormal Order series in some way.
  3. Pages about perons are only allowed if the person in question is a part of, or closely related to, the Paranormal Order series.
  4. Pages about exclusive content of the game Enigma of Fear must be written in the "Enigma of Fear:" domain.
  5. Theories and speculations are not allowared in the pages domain, but they can be published in the dedicated category on the community's forum.
  6. Parodied, comedic, absurd, and/or misleading pages, or any other page that could mislead readers and editors of the wiki, are not allowed to be created.
  7. Pages created for the purpose of advertising that is not official for Paranormal Order are not allowed.
  8. Pages about fan communities or community persons are not allowed.

Pages in the "User:" domain are free from the notability guidelines. They can be used for anything as long as they follow the other wiki rules.

Redirects[]

Redirects are exempt from the normal notability guidelines but should redirect to a page that fits the notability guidelines. Redirects must follow the following rules:

Allowed: alternative or shortened names, or the first name of characters; previous titles of the page if it has been moved; alternative capitalization; a part of a larger page.

Not allowed: misspelling, typing errors, and irregular formatting.

Pages titles[]

{{DISPLAYTITLE}} is not allowed to use. If you want to give another name to the page, move it.

Pages should follow a general naming format based on their type.

  • Episode pages should have the title prefixed with the campaign name followed by the episode number.
  • Persons pages should have the title as their professional name or as they are commonly known within the community.
    • It is necessary to provide the real name of the person in the page.
    • A redirect is allowed.
  • Pages about characters, monsters and locations must use the names shown in the series.

Writing[]

As the wiki's goal is to document facts, you should always avoid speculative and no source informations. In general, you should add sources to every new piece of information in the page and/or to information that may raise doubts in the reader regarding its veracity. The template {{Cite web}} must be used to reference sites and derivatives , whilst {{Cite episode}} or {{Cite clip}} must be used to reference episode moments of when the info was obtained. Don't add content to a page if you can't find an suitable source.

Pages in the main domain must be written in third-person POV and not having reference terms for the author. Avoid using word abbreviation. For emphasis points, use italic instead of bold or CAPITAL LETTERS.

Keeping pages concise and up to date[]

Pages must have all the relative infos about the last RPG episode or the last game's version. If something or a name changed, it must be documented as such.

Grammar[]

The pages in this wiki must follow the proper updated English grammar spellings.

Pages/section titles[]

The page's main sections must begin with headers followed by a subtitle. Never use headers as a page title.

Follow the capitalization of sentence style, not title style, so that only the first letter of the title and proper names are capitalized.

Titles musn't have links; links should be put below, as like the template {{main}}. If an image will be used in the section, it must be put below the section's header.

Don't add blank pages/sections.

Imagens[]

Before adding images to a page, be sure if it is official, taken from a Paranormal Order social media or a screen capture from an RPG episode. Fanarts are not allowed, once it is not official.

Pages must have at least one image that represents the topic, if possible. We ask for good sense when adding images to a page, just for not making an visual pollution.

We don't recommend using a big image on the page's top; instead, use a small image positioned right or in an infobox, if possible.

Links[]

Links must be well-adjusted between provide the reader with enough useful links so they can "explore" the pages, but don't provide so many links that it distracts them from their reading flow.

Links orientations are:

  • Unless it negatively affects the sentence structure and readability, two links should not be placed side by side in the text in a way that they appear as a single link.
  • Links to a single term should not be excessively repeated within the same page.

Using a link for redirection is preferable to using a link with altered text, except in cases involving templates or other transcluded pages. When using an altered text link cannot be avoided, it should not point to a redirection. If a redirection can be avoided by using a suffix in the link, it is better to do so. For example, using [[Ghost]]s instead of [[Ghosts]] is the most appropriated - still, it's not possible to do that using visual editor.

Files[]

This wiki and the Brazilian wiki uses the SharedImages feature. In resume: all the files used in the Brazilian wiki can be used in the English wiki. But to understand about our standards, check below:

Files must have a short and clear name, so it can be possible to search for it and increase the site search relevance, like in Google. For example, an image musn't have a default screenshot name or "no title". Also, a character's image like Elizabeth Webber can't be "Liz" or any community's alias, but "Elizabeth Webber in Episode x", "Elizabeth Webber's sprite" etc. Description also must be something concise that describes, in fact, what is the image.

We prefer using png format images, if possible.

Files must have one of the available licenses.

Theories or community's creations files must go to the community's forum. Uploaded files on the wiki with this properties can be deleted without prior warning.
