The Outsider is a mysterious Knowledge and Energy creature with compliment of Fear, having an unknown nature and being extremely intelligent. Its appearances are always reported as abductions, and its presence always causes interference in digital devices and discomfort.
The creature has its own language, that is open to various interpretations, and acts as if it was part of a superior civilization. The people who met this creature always report different experiences, going normally back to their lives after the contact, but, with a strange feeling of contant discomfort. The nature of this creature seems to indicate that it is some kind of extraterrestrial life, however little is known about its origin and true intentions, only that it has a strong relation with one of the Tenebris' Bells. Due to this connection with the Tenebris' Bells, both Energy and Knowledge are its main elements.
Its first appearance out of the Playbook was in the 4th episode of Signals from the Other Side, where it manifests itself during a Doppelganger's invasion at Zucchini Farm, and soon after, disappearing as if nothing had happened.[2] However, it reappears at the 7th episode, cornering The Five and pressuring them to enter the available capsules.[3]
Appearance[]
The Outsider is an 8'2" feet tall skinny humanoid creature, having in its face something that looks like a human looking gray mask, with two big green eyes and a division that separates the mask in two sides. From this mask, various cables come out and connect to its body. The creature wears a big greenish cloak that covers its shoulders and touches the ground. From under the cloak, big shoulder pads are visible. The Outsider wears in its torso green metallic clothes with various black details. the creature's arms are the only visible part of its skin, being extremely long and skinny, with five big claws in each of its hands. The Outsider also wears bracelets on its arms.
Behavior[]
The Outsider always behave in a strange and mysterious manner, preferring to stay hidden in all of its encounters, keeping all people alien to its presence and repeatedly appearing to people at random times. When it is found, it makes the person who found it forget its presence and contact. However, if the Outsider contacts a being for long enough, it places a grub in its head to be incubated, slowly draining the host's sanity until the grub hatches and become a new Outsider, killing the host instantly, even if the hatchling inherits only part of the Outsider's traits, being variants known as Aliens.
The creature acts indifferently towards humans, with a sense of complete superiority to their existences.[4] When encountering humans that it judges to be weaker, it stays in a completely calm state, floating to its victims and killing them slowly, many times making them kill themselves, controlling their minds.
Abilities[]
- Incubate: The Outsider is capable of incubating a being with its grub, with the being not having memories of the event. The grub is responsible for slowly draining its host's sanity and, when finished, the individual instantly dies when hatching a new Alien with a distinct purpose.[5]
- Erase memories: the creature makes its victims lose their memories. These memories can be especific, like an event, or even the complete existence of a person.[6] Beyond that, the Outsider can make the person forget everything that makes them, all the faces they have seen, all their tastes, people they knew, their own name and all their memories.
- Fly: The Outsider has the ability to move floating through air.[3]
- Commanding: The Outsider enters its victim's mind and make them do actions against their will, such as attacking themselves, kneel and even ending their own lives.[7]
- Subtle Touch: With a simple touch of its fingers, The Outsider melts completely the body of its enemy, making their blood bubble inside, melting their bones and skin.[8]
Trivia[]
- The name of the Outsider is written with its exclusive sigils that can be translated to "Outsider".
- During the entire season, none of the characters mentioned or commented about the Outsider, which contributed to the narration of the creature's appearance, as if a traumatic memory block had happened in the characters' minds.
- The name of the TV Varminho's Tower's director, Diego Granteros, is a purposeful anagram to "Estrangeiro God (Outsider God)".[9]
- Outsider has two theme songs: "The Outsider" and "What is Worse than Pain and Death?"
