Old Hotelier

Today I pay the price of living, ironically, haunted.

Old Hotelier^[1]

The Old Hotelier, called just The Hotelier in his lifetime, was one of several residents Holy Cradle who served as the third of his profession to care for the Village Hotel.^[2] He was the father of Current Hotelier, as well as discovering and experimenting with the Guilt Parasite.^[3]

Appearance[]

The Old Hotelier was a very old bald man with a hunchback. Like the other inhabitants of Holy Cradle, he had black eyes, gray skin, pointed ears and black stripes on his face, which in his case, form something like an "X". He wore a black outfit, a coat and leather pants and black shoes. He also has a small white beard and holds a red cane in his hand.^[2]^[4]

Personality[]

In his early years at Holy Cradle, he presented himself with a very aggressive and stressed personality, swearing a lot and complaining about everything and everyone.^[5]^[2] With time, and his discovery about the Guilt Parasite, he started to get much more restless and anxious, for in the end, after his regret of creating the entity, appearing to be very hopeless and closed off.^[6]

Biography[]

Not much is known before Holy Cradle, only that he was connected to the Haunteds, a biker gang led by Rodolfo.

When he arrived in Holy Cradle, he soon became the owner of the hotel, starting to experiment with the animals in the region in secret from the population, documenting about this and about his day to day as a Hotelier in his diary.^[5] He would find out about the existence of the Guilt Parasites,^[7] a creature capable of controlling dreams, making tests with them.^[8]

A few years before the arrival of the Team Kelvin in Holy Cradle, he would have a relationship with some unknown woman and have a son, who would later be known as the current Hotelier.

In March 2020, he would welcome Team Kelvin to his hotel, wondering who they were to be able to deal with the Parasite.^[2]^[9] Afterwards, he would wonder what had happened to them, since the very next day they would disappear when they entered the Infinite Labyrinth again.^[6]

Death[]

A few years later, The Hotelier would begin to regret the experiments he performed in the past, living haunted by his own creations in his dreams.^[6] He would hide his diary in his painting, before committing suicide.^[10]

A few years after his death, his diary would be found by his son during the 10th episode of The Secret in the Forest, after a rage attack after a battle against a Guilt Parasite, where he found his father in the dreams.^[3]
