The Paranormal Order - Episode 1 - "Episode 1"

The Nostradamus High School, also abbreviated as NHS, is the key investigation location of The Paranormal Order/Paranormal Order: Initiation, where the story begins and ends. It is there that the newly formed team of the Order consisting of Daniel Hartmann, Elizabeth Webber and Thiago Fritz is sent to investigating a fire and the strange death of a firefighter.^[1] The characters return to the location several times during the campaign, and at a certain point in the story together with Alexsander Kothe, including its tragic conclusion.^[2]

History[]

Before the Fire[]

Nostradamus High School, an old building that once functioned as a monastery, is one of the most prestigious private educational institutions in the city of São Paulo.^[3] After taking over the direction of the school, Álvaro Augusto, one of the most hidden occultists in positions of power in society, decided to reform the school to hide a new area below the library: a bunker built by Giovanni Opspor.^[4] There, he and the other members of his organization, the geography teacher, Olavo Costa, and the math teacher, Matias Dennis, kidnapped some students and tortured them,^[5] leaving them locked and chained to the bunker rooms, exposing their bodies to the Blood symbol formed by the corridors of the same place,^[6]^[7] with the goal of perform a Blood Passage Ritual in which Álvaro Augusto, after dead, would have his mind fused with the new Tirigan, Anthony Scelto, passing to inhabit the body of the same. The ritual was successfully performed.^[8] To attract one of the students, the director requested the help of the history teacher, Alexsander Kothe, who refused to help and had his memory erased in the process.^[9]^[10]

Suspicious about the disappearance of three colleagues - Julia Correia, Fernanda Pinto and Evelyn Orlando - the boy Gabriel Opspor began to investigate the incident, together with his friends Mathew Geleerd, Gustavo and Lina Kunsti. Due to the strange circumstances of his removal from the school, Alexsander was considered the prime suspect.^[11]

Even though he is obsessed with detective stories, Gabriel only started to take investigations more seriously when his girlfriend, Lina, also disappeared. Certain of the participation of Lina's best friend, Agatha Volkomenn, as she was the daughter of a famous assassin, Ingrid Volkomenn, the young man began to follow her and observe her movements closely. That's when Gabriel saw Agatha, who was a library employee, opening a passage to the basement.^[12] On the fateful night of February 29, Gabriel, together with Mathew and Gustavo, invited Agatha to go to school at night, and soon they took a camera to record her confession. When he found her, Gabriel took Agatha underground, while Mathew and Gustavo stayed behind to change the camera's SD card. Downstairs, Agatha performed a Body Switch ritual from a notebook with occult rituals and switched bodies with Gabriel. When the other two arrived, they recorded what appeared to be Gabriel stabbing Agatha to death, thus creating the beast that the Headmaster and teachers intended to summon. Out of control, the creature killed Gustavo, while Agatha (in Gabriel's body) and Mathew managed to escape. On their way out, they set off a bomb in the lab, in an attempt to kill the newly awakened monster. The flames caught the attention of authorities, who dispatched the fire department.^[12] When they got there, a firefighter named George was murdered by Degolified. The strange circumstances of his death drew the attention of the Ordo Realitas, who recruited three new agents, Daniel, Elizabeth and Thiago to unravel what happened.^[1]

The Paranormal Order[]

After being assigned to the case of George's death, the three agents went to the Nostradamus School, where they are received by Detective Gonzales Medina, who guides them to the fireman's body. The strangely disfigured corpse begins its transformation into Blood Zombies, but is defeated by the agents. The trio continues their investigation, eventually finding an SD card that contained a video of three boys, one of them being Gabriel Opspor. After collecting the boy's information from the school's files, the team heads to his home. They return later, accompanied by Alexsander Kothe, and head to the library, where they come across a terrifying creature: the Degolified. She kills Gonzales by stuffing his hair into his mouth and eyes, while the other four manage to escape, deciding to return home.

The next day, after a visit to Mathew Geleerd, the four agents return to the Nostradamus School, looking for Agatha Volkomenn's address in the archives room, and end up fighting Gonzales' body, now transformed into a Blood Zombie. After an intense battle in Agatha's apartment, the team meets with Verity, who provides them with some equipment and tasks them with carrying out a sweep of the school's bunker. They kill Blood Zombies, who were the missing victims, transformed, set the place on fire, find the body of director Álvaro Augusto, who, apparently, had committed suicide with a shot in the head, and finally face the last creature, the second form of the Devoured Degolified. To defeat the creature, according to writings found by the quartet, the person's true name would have to be said, for his soul to leave the body of that horrendous being. Then, the team cooperates to defeat the creature, while trying to guess the name of the soul trapped in the body. After a long and tense battle, Thiago Fritz becomes deaf in one ear and faints, Daniel Hartmann is killed, having half of his body devoured by the creature, and Alexsander Kothe commits suicide upon witnessing that whole scene. Heartbroken, Liz leaves the place with Thiago, unconscious and injured.

Bunker[]

The Nostradamus High School bunker functioned as the base of operation for a group of Occultists led by the School Director, Álvaro Augusto. It was located below the School Library.^[4]

When you go down the stairs and reach the bunker's basement, you come across mental walls in a good state of conservation with military lights on the ceiling, together with the presence of a thick fog and the sounds of footsteps that echo throughout the environment. Being highlighted for some points of interest:^[13]

Corridors: At the end of the corridor leading to the stairs to the bunker, there is a metal cabinet with various equipment and bloody tools, used to torture the kidnapped students.^[14]

Room on the right, bottom: Being the first room accessed by the Scouting Team, through a bunker door, it is possible to identify a room with remnants of attempts to create new creatures in an area full of symbols, chains and blood scattered everywhere. At the scene, was the Bestial Blood Zombie of Julia Correia.^[15]

Room on the right, top: On the opposite side of the first room accessed, when opening the door, you will find a room with various symbols on the walls and a table with various tools and a pile of keys. At the back of the room, was Lina Kunsti in her school uniform, trapped by chains against the wall and signs of torture all over her body, in the process of transforming into a Blood Zombie.^[16]

Room on the left, top: On the opposite side of the corridor, on the left, as well as the other rooms, there is a place with remnants of occultist activities, along with a huge goo composed by a pile of flesh with several limbs sewn to it, consisting of parts of Evelyn Orlando and Fernanda Pinto.^[17]

Room on the left, bottom: On the opposite side of the previous room, there is a room with a table surrounded by several chairs and the presence of the body of Álvaro Augusto sitting in one of them, with a gun at his side floor and blood smeared on the wall. Along with several documents, which presented the plans and sketches of the stages of creating a creature.^[18]

Room on the center: Present at the end of the central corridor, accessed through a double metal door with the presence of a strong fog, there is a room with the presence of a black altar next to a large book open in the background, at the location, Various occult symbols are visible on all sides, along with the Agatha Volkomenn's body lying on the ground and a imposing creature.^[19]
