Nathaniel

Nathaniel is a mysterious occultist who was part of the Sect of the Masks for being considered a threat to the balance, until he let himself be imprisoned by Joui Jouki in one of the cells of the Ordo Realitas Base as part of his plan.

He first appeared in the 4th episode of Deconjuration, where he is visited in his cell by Joui Jouki and other members of D-Force that question him about the Sect of the Masks and his participation in the cult. Nathaniel doesn’t talk much, just alerts them.

Appearance

Nathaniel is a light-skinned man with blond hair combed back, wearing a gray T-shirt under a white formal vest, light jeans and clean sneakers, possessing an elegant appearance with a sagacious and proud air. He has a captivating look despite his threatening tone, and is described as an extremely handsome man. His hygiene and vanity are remarkable, since Nathaniel does not appear to have been incarcerated for months when he is visited.

During the events of the 17th episode of Deconjuration, Nathaniel, like the other members, also wears his own mask. This mask is white with an inverted golden heart located in the center of the upper part, while around each eye there are drawings that form four-pointed stars and, just below, the drawing of black tears falling.

Biography

Past

Little is known about Nathaniel’s past, besides that at some point in his life he joined the Sect of the Masks when offered a deal or else he would be killed due to the threat he posed to balance.

In 2020, the agent of Ordo Realitas, Joui Jouki, does some investigations about the Sect of the Masks, where Nathaniel creates a trap and lets himself be imprisoned by the agent in strange circumstances, making Joui dislike him. The approach to Joui Jouki would be used for future benefit, being part of Nathaniel’s agreement with the Masks.

Deconjuration

On October 31, 2020, Nathaniel is visited in his cell by Joui Jouki, Kaiser and Dante, who question him about the Sect of the Masks. After Nathaniel’s warning to Joui about the inevitable arrival of the Masks, the agents leave because they are not making progress with the questions. It is then that, on the night of November 1, the Sect of the Masks invades the Ordo Realitas Base to rescue Nathaniel from the prison, making Ivete Beicur as hostage. While The Magistrate and the other Masks kept the D-Force members into the Shadow Dimension, Nathaniel pressured Joui Jouki to make a deal with him to join the Sect, in exchange his friends would be protected from Kian and the Escribes when necessary. After their incursion, all the Masks disappear, transporting the Ordo Realitas agents to their homes and hiding the memories of all who were not present in the Shadow Dimension, except Joui.

At the night of November 5, after the investigations that D-Force did at the Devilish Mansion about their old residents, Nathaniel and the Sect of the Masks appear at the cemetery to meet with Joui Jouki after revealing the deal he made with the Masks for the protection of his friends. As soon as he finishes saying goodbye, Joui wears his mask and disappears into the shadows along with the other Masks.

At the dawn of November 7, in the final moments of the so-called "Final Day of Deconjuration", the Sect of the Masks appears at the St. Menefreda Orphanage during the fight of the Ordo Realitas agents against Kian and Gal. Kian, now converted as a Marked, uses a Fear ritual, limiting the Masks, however, with the Cineraria Ritual cast by Kaiser, the Sect of the Masks manages to save the other agents.

Calamity

In 2021, Nathaniel’s whereabouts remain unknown, and his absence in the Sect of the Masks is only mentioned. It is known that shortly after he entered the sect, he managed to leave in an unknown way to date.

Cursed Items

Mask of the People in Shadows: A detailed white mask having the Despair Mask Symbol marked inside it. This mask is granted to those who belong to the Sect of the Masks, allowing its user to have access to some of the abilities of the Masks, as well as a certain resistance to the Knowledge.

Relationships

• Joui Jouki: Joui was responsible for imprisoning Nathaniel, possibly the first occultist apprehended by the young officer. The exact circumstances that led to Nathaniel’s arrest are uncertain, but it is known that Joui feels a special contempt for the occultist, suggesting great disrespect. The brawl between both is translucent, but unlike the common adversary, Nathaniel does not seem to feel threatened easily, which leaves Joui more susceptible to his manipulation. It is later revealed that Nathaniel was responsible for putting Joui into the Sect of the Masks after an agreement.

• Leonardo Gomes: Nathaniel, when asked about his relationship with Leonardo, that actually comes to Kian, said they were friends, implying that the two had a professional alliance. The true nature of the relationship of the two remains unknown, taking into account that they are situated in enemy groups, the Sect of the Masks and the Escribes.
