Nathalia Scompa was one of the protagonists of the Paranormal Order series, present in Gruesome Christmas.

Nathalia Scompa was passionate about horror books, whose intensity in the readings is reflected in her frequent nightmares with hooks. After fighting with the family, she decides to spend Christmas with friends in the Goodwill Moon's Camp.

In an attempt to escape the Night Mutilator, Nathalia tries to save her friend, Lila Bonelli, trying to lure the killer with her bag, however, she ends up being hit by his axe, being dragged down the cliff, caught on a hook and thrown into the lake.

Appearance

Nathalia was a young woman with fair skin, brown eyes and long wavy brown hair, tied by a pink headband. She wore a white high school shirt, overlapped by a pink sweater, along with a black skirt and pantyhose that complements her black sneakers with details in pink.

Personality

Nathalia, with her natural confidence, knew how to attract attention, whether by the impeccable choice of clothes or by her articulate way of speaking. Although she seemed a little snobbish and difficult to approach at first, she was actually quite kind to her colleagues, especially with Jorel, her childhood friend. Nathalia showed much companionship and concern for him and always preferred to be by his side to anyone else; even when the friend revealed some little disturbing secrets, Nathalia understood and supported him. In her final moments, when she tried to help Lila to escape the bear trap in which she was trapped, Nathalia showed much bravery and solidarity.

Biography

Past

Nathalia Scompa was an avid reader and passionate about horror stories, often seen carrying her favorite books of the genre. However, her devotion to terror seemed to influence her subconscious, for the recurring nightmares with hooks were almost as constant as her enthusiasm for new readings. During her childhood, Nathalia lived in a luxury condominium with her family, where she eventually met Jorel Lagos, with whom she developed a special friendship that deeply marked her memories of that time and which she has carried with her to the present day.

After fighting with her family, Nathalia decided, together with former school friends, to spend Christmas in the Goodwill Moon's Camp, where new possibilities and memories awaited to be built.

Gruesome Christmas

Nathalia travels in an extremely uncomfortable way, with Jorel on her lap, along with her former high school colleagues. In the late afternoon of Christmas Eve, in a blue car that was rented, they pass through a mountainous region of Paraná, until finally reaching their final destination: the Goodwill Moon's Camp.

As soon as the car parks and the back doors are opened, Nathalia pushes Jorel out of her lap, going straight down behind him, untangling her clothes and adjusting the pink bow that she carries on her head. She takes her luggage from the trunk of the car and goes with the group towards a wooden cabin nearby.

As they approach, they notice that the door is half-open. Inside the place, they begin to comment on the state of the camp. Soon, they realize that the cabin was too cramped to accommodate six people and decide to head for the larger house they had seen earlier at the top of the hill, known as Juno House. As they leave, Nathalia notices a paper placed on a table on the balcony and picks it up, discovering that it was a map of the camp.

Climbing the hill and arriving at the big house, Nathalia opens the double door, which was unlocked. Upon entering the house, the group decides to separate themselves to better explore the environment. Thus, Nathalia, accompanied by Jorel, goes to the living room. The two find a portrait, fallen near the fireplace, of a young woman with a disturbed look and Nathalia notices that there are blood stains on the sleeves of the woman’s clothes.

After hearing some cries of Shanyqua coming from the kitchen, Nathalia and Jorel go there. The whole group except for Ricardo, begins to discuss the strangeness of the camp. Nathalia notices a fallen refrigerator with spoiled food and finds that everything had expired about 6 months before. Soon, Ricardo arrives in the kitchen. After talking a little more, the group separates again. Nathalia remains with Jorel and the two go to the library of the house. Jorel ends up noticing some red spots on the carpet of the room and Nathalia confirms, passing her hand and smelling it, that it is dry blood.

The two go back to the kitchen and meet with the rest of the group. Suddenly, they hear a branch breaking from the back of the house. Soon, the door begins to be scratched from outside. After discussing whether they should open or not, Leandro takes initiative and opens the door, revealing Joto, a puppy, who joins the group.

After that, the colleagues eat and prepare to make a Secret Santa. They gather in the living room, taking a souvenir photo, and start exchanging gifts in the game. Nathalia receives a pink bag from Lila and gifts a horror book to Jorel.

As soon as the Secret Santa is finished, the group gathers all the mattresses of the house in the room, but ends up lacking space for one person to sleep. So, Leandro and Ricardo volunteer themselves to pick up a mattress from the cabin they visited earlier. While the two leave, Nathalia and her colleagues decide to play a little Ouija board, which Shanyqua had brought, but are interrupted by Ricardo, who comes back talking about the arrival of a masked man in a police car at the camp. Soon, Leandro also arrives and says that he is a known serial killer: the Night Mutilator.

Before they can take any action, the killer enters the house. Everyone becomes silent and tries to move quietly. Nathalia and Jorel go to the kitchen, but when the Mutilator enters the room, they return to the living room, proceeding to a smaller room and hiding there. Soon, the two hear the fighting cries from Ricardo and leave their hiding places. Jorel notices the presence of a locked trapdoor under the carpet in the room and, after a while, Shanyqua and Lila arrive.

The four discuss and decide to check out the rest of the house, hoping to find something that can help them get out of that situation. Going up to the second floor, they notice a passage to a possible attic. Nathalia asks for help, Lila puts her on her shoulders and she tries to open the door, which seems to be locked. They go to the game room and Jorel finds a broken camera on the floor. Lila leaves the room and comes back, after a minute, with a couple’s photo album. Nathalia checks and realizes that the woman of the couple is the same as the portrait she saw earlier. Lila begins to explain that sacrificial rituals were being done, but suddenly Jorel starts acting strange, asking meaningless questions and seeing in loop the video of the camera he had found. He then reveals to the others that he hadn't rented the camp and actually brought the others to help find his missing brother, whose last known location was there. Nathalia becomes frustrated with that, since Jorel was her friend and didn't told her anything, but she supports the colleague. After a while of discussion, they decide to go ahead and investigate the tent area of the camp.

The group leaves the house behind and starts to climb the hill. Upon reaching the top, Jorel almost falls into a bear trap, being held in time by Nathalia. On the area, they see some old tents and, further away, a stone tombstone. As they approach, they notice that it is a tomb, whose soil around was disturbed, revealing Alice Lucina's exposed corpse, illuminated by the light of the moon. After theorizing about some things, suddenly, Lila screams and runs away. Turning back, Nathalia and the others notice the presence of the Night Mutilator there.

Everyone starts running desperately, but Lila’s run is interrupted by the bear trap in which she is caught. Nathalia immediately tries to help her friend, seeing Jorel and Shanyqua disappearing in the distance. Nathalia tries to open the trap, but she doesn't. The Mutilator approaches both of them. Lila, desperate, asks for Nathalia’s knife, which, without thinking much, gives it and the friend begins to saw her own foot out. In an attempt to buy time for Lila, Nathalia throws the bag she had been gifted at the killer, hitting him and even taking off his mask, revealing a nice face under her. But he soon puts it back.

Lila begins to beg for Nathalia to run away and leave her, and she obeys, running away from the Mutilator. Looking back at her, Nathalia realizes that he will throw his axe at her. Trying to dodge the weapon, however, Nathalia is hit in the face. She tries to move, react, but it’s as if her body doesn't respond. All she sees is red, of her blood. She feels the Mutilator’s grip on her heel and is pulled, next to Lila, to the edge of the cliff. Then he takes a large hook from nearby and sticks it into Nathalia’s collarbone, lifting her up and hanging her over the cliff. Bleeding incessantly, she can see the body of Lila, her friend, falling down a cliff. The Night Mutilator kicks Nathalia in the head; the hook she was trapped in gives away and she falls too. All she can see is the water coming closer and closer before her end.

Abilities

Fight or Flight: Nathalia knows the signs of her own death, which makes her more confident, especially when they are not present, causing her to receive a +2 bonus in Will tests. If something related to her premonition appears, she is taken by a surge of adrenaline that intensifies her fighting or escape instincts. In addition to the bonus on Will, she also receives 2 temporary Determination Points that last until the end of the scene.

Effort: When making a skill test, Nathalia can spend 1 DP to get +2 on that test.

Tough: Nathalia receives +4 HP.

Pinkish Bag: Delicate but dangerous. The bag can be used as a weapon, dealing 1d4 impact damage. Also, every time she deals maximum damage with it, Nathalia regains 1 Determination Point.

Relationships

• Jorel Lagos: Nathalia and Jorel were childhood friends, and because of this they cared for each other. During the trip, Nathalia was worried about how Jorel would fare when he met his former colleagues, often asking him how he felt. Even during danger situations, Nathalia decided to stay close to Jorel, since the two were used to always be together, and this is seen when she decided to follow him even during the hunt of the Night Mutilator at Juno House.

• Scompa, Nathalia's surname, means "Disappear" in Italian.
• Nathalia's favorite animal were cats.
• Nathalia was inspired in Blair Waldorf, the protagonist of Gossip Girl.
  • Initially, Nathalia was more inspired by the singer Sabrina Carpenter, as well as the stereotype of "horror movies beautiful blonde", but coincidentally, Lorena's character happened to be created before, with those similar details. Because of that, Cellbit asked for Carol to change Nathalia to avoid confusion between the two characters.
• Nathalia had a rhinoplasty in the year before the events of Gruesome Christmas.
• One of Nathalia's hobbies was to play drums.^{[reference needed]}
