Biography[]

Past[]

Montel was born in France, in an unknown year. From a very young age Montel has dreamed of being a great artist, however, he suffers from a condition that makes him unable to paint, making Montel decide to become an art appraiser to closely appreciate works he admires and would love to paint. In a moment of his life, he meets Angelina, a brazilian, during a parade, and ends up marrying her and having two children, Amelie Florence and Olivier Florence.

It is known that while Amelie and Olivier were small children, Montel was extremely close to the two and took care of them constantly, calming them when they were afraid of something and giving attention to both, however, from one day to another, Montel began to pay more attention to his work than his children, thus making his family turn away and have aversion to him.

The Secret in the Island[]

Day 1[]

Montel travels to the island of Tipora in an old boat, joined by his family and Cavalcante Bueno, a real estate agent, who, like him, had been hired to analyze and evaluate the works left behind in the mansion of Constantino Moretti, a famous painter who lived on that island until he disappeared without a trace. After a brief series of complications with the boat, Montel arrives in Tipora.

While his family stays for a while on the beach, two residents, Bárbara Lima and Milo Castello, arrive from the forest to welcome the new visitors and end up volunteering to carry their bags and guide them to the mansion through the island’s forest. During the crossing, they are attacked by a wild boar, that is quickly scared away. Then, they arrive at the Moretti's Mansion, where they would stay, coming across a completely abandoned environment, covered with paintings on the walls, but elegant and luxurious. Montel soon approaches several of Constantino’s paintings attached to the wall, admiring them closely.

After spending the day analyzing the paintings, in the night, Montel eats at the large kitchen dining table, his children and their friends arrive and sit down. They eat and talk, asking Montel information about Constantino Moretti. The father, who expresses pride that his children show interest in the painter, answers all the questions asked. After that, Montel goes to his bedroom to sleep.

Day 2[]

Montel wakes up in his room and gets up, going out and meeting his children, he has a quick chat with the two and goes down to the kitchen. After waiting a while, the Florence brothers arrive in the kitchen and have breakfast with their parents, and in the middle of the meal, Montel invites Olivier to accompany him to the village, but his son refuses and says he'll go with Angelina and Amelie to the beach, Montel becomes clearly surprised and saddened by Olivier’s decision but tries to hide it, saying with conviction that it is best for the three to enjoy their stay on the island.

Later Montel appears at the Church Barbecue. Until Barnabé approaches him and begins to persuade him, discovering that Montel dreamed of being an artist, however, he was physically unable to paint any kind of picture, upon hearing this, Barnabé promises to the French that there was a way for him to become an artist without painting any painting, Montel just had to wait at the mansion until dawn that day.

After that Montel tries to talk to Lívia about the painter's mansion but to no avail, until Amelie approaches him and Montel starts talking with his daughter, during the discussion between the two Amelie tells him that Montel was once a better father, something that catches him off guard, shaking him a lot, after hearing it he leaves embarrassed near her.

Montel then approaches Bartô and again asks information about Constantino, being ignored by the second time. Davi Pomar appears and shows interest in what he has to say, Montel gets excited and the two keep talking until the party is over. When the barbecue is over, Montel returns to the mansion with his family, Cavalcante, Milo and Bárbara. On the way Montel tries to approach Angelina, but she acts rudely and with ignorance, and realizing the stress of his wife, he turns away.

Arriving home, the Florence approaches Olivier and asks his son if he is a bad father, something that he replies saying that Montel was not bad, but could improve his relationship with his children and wife, Montel hears his advice along with Milo and Bárbara, but decides to go to work in his room while the rest of the group prepares to sleep.

Day 3[]

Montel leaves his room at dawn and before going to his room with Angelina, he meets Barnabé, that takes him to the painting of the Phantom Bride on the 2nd floor, promising that he had a secret to reveal, and getting there, while Montel admired the painting and had an intense experience with the paint, Barnabé manipulated him, saying that if Montel followed in his footsteps, everyone could feel what he feels, everyone would appreciate his art that would become real.

Montel continued to appreciate the Bride as Barnabé walked away, seeing that Cavalcante was approaching, the agent then approaches Montel and tries to bring him back to reality, however, the Frenchman was still muttering some illogical words, until, Cavalcante takes a key and even hesitant opens the third floor door, which was hidden behind the painting, entering it with Montel.

The two walk around the place, while Cavalcante investigated and checked the room, however, the agent begins to get sick and Montel passes in front, dazzled and contemplating the paintings stuck in the wall. While this occurred, Barnabé arrived behind Cavalcante and attacked his neck, jumping on top of him soon after. The same tried to react, but because he was very weak after ingesting the barbecue food, he was powerless, Barnabé then injects a deadly poison into the agent’s neck, killing him slowly, and while everything occurred, Montel did not understand what happened, because nnothing seemed real to the analyst who was under the hallucinogenic effect.

Montel, still in the euphoria of the paint, accompanies Barnabé through the third floor, which finally finds the paint that Constantino used to paint, beginning to realize the second part of his plan. Montel accompanies him and after Barnabé finds a painting of the beach painted by Leila, the two together take the body of Cavalcante to the beach, where Montel witnesses Barnabé painting over the painting of the beach the corpse of Cavalcante and a creature next to him. However, before finishing, Barnabé melts the agent’s face with the paint while digging the meat out with a spatula, he then finishes painting, making a hole in Cavalcante’s face in the painting.

The two leave for their homes, and Montel remains with his obsession with the paint, he returns to the mansion and goes to Angelina’s room, lying down and sleeping late.

The next day, Montel wakes up and leaves his room, meeting a new man at the mansion, that was accompanied by Milo ande Olivier, they introduce themselves and Montel goes out to brush his teeth and wake his wife. After preparing, Montel wakes Angelina up and spends the whole day with her, feeling refreshed after his experience with the paint, he reapproaches from the woman and celebrates with her his achievement.

At the end of the day, he is in the kitchen laughing and eating with Angelina, after a while, Montel goes upstairs with her to the room, laughing and holding a bottle of wine.

Day 4[]

Montel leaves his room with Angelina and immediately sees Lívia enraged screaming with the painting of Constantino Moretti. He quickly steps on top of her and tries to push her away, but is attacked by her in the process, until his family gets into the fight and separate the two, with Olivier arriving to calm Lívia.

After that, Montel calls Olivier and praises him, saying how courageous he was in calming down and holding Lívia, Olivier thanks his father and descends with the rest of the group to the first floor, while Montel and Angelina go up to the room to take care of the Florence’s injuries.

Later, both Montel and Angelina are called by Otávio, that warns them about the body found on the beach, and that during the day a rally will take place in the church idealized by Evandro, after that, Angelina goes into shock and Montel acts surprised, not feeling guilt or remorse of having witnessed that scene.

The two then talk to the youngers at the mansion and part away together to the village for the meeting in the church. Arriving there, both stand at the bottom of the church, just listening to everything that happened on the spot, until Bartô, uncontrolled, attacks the delegate, so the couple runs away from the church.

After everything calms down, Montel and Angelina are called by Evandro to be interrogated, and there they are questioned by Evandro alongside Otávio, Montel lies shamelessly to the delegate and leaves for the mansion with his wife after being released.

They arrive and Angelina prepares a dinner for the youngers and Wanderley, eating and going to bed with Montel.

Day 5[]

During the early morning hours, Montel wakes up and goes to the Phantom Bride's painting to enjoy it and feel again the euphoria of the paint, at the same time he meets Barnabé that again calls him to fulfill his plan to create the True Art, he then passes on a list of things for Montel to do the next day on a paper, ordering him to destroy it right after reading.

Right in the start of the day, Evandro Eiland suddenly appears in the mansion, and arrests Montel, accusing him that there was evidence of his fingerprints in the painting found where Cavalcante died. His wife claims that Montel has a condition that makes him impossible to paint and draw and that she has a certificate to prove it. Montel is taken from the mansion by Evandro to the police station, where he is placed in a cell, and there he remains.

As chaos raged on the island, Barnabé approaches Montel’s cell window and hands him a painting of Bartô next to a faceless creature, along with a spatula and an amount of paint, sending him to kill him, also handing the keys to the cell to Montel. Florence then looks at the painting and feels inspired, he opens the cells and enters the room where Bartô is and sees him fainted, Montel begins to practice his part in the plan, he melts Bartô’s face with the paint and rips it off with the spatula, murdering the man in the process, after leaving the painting next to the corpse and throwing everything into the toilet, melting the evidence with the paint. He returns to his cell and locks the two doors again, waiting for the moment when the villagers enter the site.

During the night, Olivier goes to the police station where his father was arrested, hearing a cry from Montel, he enters the room accompanied by Adrian and Vagner, seeing Bartô’s dead body in the cell next to Montel’s.

Chaos and despair set in on the island, with Montel shouting and warning that "everyone would die tomorrow" and "the creature will return when the bell ring", exactly what Barnabé' instructions told him to do. He remains so until Olivier and Angelina enter the cell, Montel calms down and accompanies his wife and children to the entrance of the police station, there he remains repeating that the creature will return, however, appearing to be in a state of complete madness, as if something had taken him from his reality of sanity.

He is taken care of by Angelina and goes accompanied her and Amelie to the house of Návia Eiland, repeating about the creature without stopping, coming to irritate and make people anxious, just the plan of Barnabé, until, Amelie and Angelina leave the place arguing, Amelie comes back and decides to go to the mansion with Wanderley, dragging Montel with her there, believing that he knows something, on the way, Montel doesn't stop repeating the same phrases of the script of Barnabé incessantly.

They arrive at the mansion and there, Montel insists that he knows nothing and tries to escape several times, not being allowed by Wanderley, who comes to threaten him, during the investigation of the mansion, all manage to enter the third floor, and while there, Montel seemed restless, descending together from the group after Bárbara almost got insane.

Montel remains watching the training of the youngers, against his will, until he sleeps from exhaustion in the forest.

Day 6[]

During the last day in the island, Montel wakes up still next to the group, he remains beside restless, until in a moment of distraction he flees and runs to the third floor, being stopped and persuaded by the Florence brothers, who convince him using the emotional, he stops and remains quiet beside everyone again.

After Olivier looked the painting of the piano, and everyone go up to the third floor again, Montel proves to be very restless and anxious, until Olivier tries to calm him, and while talking to his son he shows a semblance of repentance, facing the eyes of Olivier, but after being pressed by Milo about what he knew, Montel gets out of control and runs to the floor below, and getting close to the door, all who were following him see a body raised, the body of Lívia transformed into a blood zombie.

Montel is attacked by the monster and ends up being seriously injured, having his chest open, he almost dies, but is saved by Wanderley and Amelie, having his blood stagnated, before fainting in pain, while spitting blood, Montel apologizes to everyone.

After a while, Montel wakes up trapped on the stairs of the mansion, with his family approaching, being completely injured and dirty with blood, he is released and asks if everyone "felt", Amelie and Olivier answer that yes while crying, Montel seems to have a mixture of emotions upon hearing this, seeming to alternate between happiness, disappointment and guilt, but ultimately he exalts himself proud, even after knowing about the death of Barnabé, Montel is happy to have finally become a "true artist", he leaves refreshed the mansion while the rest of his family cries, disappointed with his lines.

Day 7[]

Everyone leaves to the beach and there they see Arthur Cervero and Walter arriving in a motorboat, Amelie and Olivier stay behind and talk to them, while Montel and Angelina get up on Adrian's boat to leave the island, the brothers get on the boat and leave Tipora, while they see their father, Montel Florence, muttering in the corner, proud of what he did, like a crazy man.

Relationships[]

  • Angelina Florence: Montel and Angelina fell in love quickly when younger, with Montel praising her at all times, the two married apparently very early, with the Florence failing to give the same attention to his wife after years of relationship, doing so, she turns away and even considers betrayal, for feeling abandoned. Montel suggested to Angelina that the family join the trip so that they would approach again, which even made the two approach in the middle of the stay.
  • Barnabé Aleno: Montel was manipulated by Barnabé shortly after arriving on the island, being persuaded along with the paint to help the merchant in his sick plan, Montel didn't seem to question the man, doing everything he commanded without hesitation in order to create his first "work of art".
  • Olivier Florence: Olivier and Montel were never very close, not even when Olivier was a child, so Olivier does not harbor a grudge for his father, but still gets angry at how Montel makes Amelie and Angelina feel abandoned, giving advice for him to get closer to them.

Trivia[]
