Madalena

Madalena is the old lady who takes care of the Carpazinha Cemetery, living in a small house within the confines of the region with her husband, Bernardo, and a dog, Matias.

Appearance[]

She is a lady in her 70s with a gentle appearance, being a hunchbacked woman wearing a gray dress, a necklace with a crucifix and small round glasses.^[1] Like Bernardo, his hearing isn't great either, making verbal communication with him noticeably more difficult when they're not in close proximity.

Personality[]

Madalena is a very religious person, always wearing a crucifix and easily believing that some demon is causing the grass around Rafael Montes' tomb to rot. She is a lady who appears to be kind and who wants to do her work at the cemetery correctly, in addition to being interested in soap operas.

Past[]

In the 1950s, Madalena would be born in the town of Pequena Carpa, later known as Carpazinha. It is known that Madalena has taken care of the cemetery for many years before The Secret in the Forest, together with her husband, in addition to adopting a dog in an unknown year, naming it Matias.

The Secret in the Forest[]

During the events of Carpazinha's case, when trying to empty the cemetery to close it for the day, Madalena found Elizabeth, Thiago, Joui, Cesar and Arthur.^[2] She gave them extra time but ended up needing it be distracted so the group could excavate the tomb of Rafael Montes.^[3]^[4] After a while, she ends up suffering a rear-naked choke maneuver performed by Joui, leaving her in a state in which it was necessary to call an ambulance, being taken to the Carpazinha Hospital. ^[5]^[6]

Trivia[]

Madalena looks like the character Muriel, from the cartoon "Courage, the Cowardly Dog".^[7]
