I was very happy to see Aninha interested in art, as well as her mother. As smart and kind as your father, I was glad to see a little bit of me in her. She seems excited about the idea of exploring the forest together to find new landscapes to paint!
She wants to make a picture for Virgulino’s birthday, he will surely be very happy to know it.

Lurdete Batista

First page of Lurdete’s diary, found in one of the rooms of the house. On the sheet, Lurdete talks about her daughter Aninha, who begins to have a certain affection for the arts, like her mother. The two plan to go to the forest next to where they live to look for a new landscape for their paintings, as they wanted to give a birthday gift to Virgulino.

In it, we have the first mention of the cave to the team, with Lurdete saying that she spotted it from the top of a hill, and that the two planned to hide the paintings inside. It also highlights the fact that Aninha was getting better and better in the arts of painting and drawing.

Lurdete Batista

Third page, found in the hand of the Crazy Gramps. Lurdete talks about the first visit of the two at the entrance of the cave. From inside it came a very strong wind, which made her a bit confused, but not afraid, saying that they would return the next day and explore the inside of her anyway. Aninha’s idea was to hide the paintings inside the place.

Fourth page[]

Lurdete Batista

Fourth page of the diary, found in the arts room. After the two went to the cave, they began to go crazy for an unknown reason, they kept repeating the same phrase always, "we went to the cave" and then drawing the spiral symbol whenever they could. Lurdete continued to write in the diary, but only wrote those same phrases, and sometimes even used the arts room, but only to draw the same cave over and over again. Each painting had more dark colors and a darkness in the form of a strange liquid from its entrance and spreading throughout the surrounding landscape.

Fifth page[]

We went to the cave. The 5 guardians will come. In the cave. We went there. The other side. The cave. We went to the cave. My hand is not my hand. We went to the cave. They will create. We went to the cave. The infinite labyrinth. In the cave. The cave. The vision. The guardians. We went to the cave. We saw in the cave. We witnessed in the cave. We went to the cave. The holy in the cave.

Lurdete Batista

Fifth and final page of the diary. After a while, the two began to become increasingly insane, having much more violent and bestial attitudes than before and starting to say new phrases such as "the cave", "the Five Guardians", "My hand is not my hand", "the Other Side", "the Infinite Labyrinth", among other things. Therefore, they had to be hospitalized in the Pequena Carpa Sanatorium, with the coalition of Virgulino Batista and Verruckt.

Sanatorium[]

Diário do Sul

With the insanity of the two starting to get stronger and stronger, Virgulino begins to have difficulties to take care of them alone, they are transported to the Pequena Carpa Sanatorium, where they are hospitalized as "Patients 21 and 22". Virgulino and Verruckt started working together, as Verruckt’s mother was going through a situation similar to that of the girls. Virgulino, seeing the situation of the place and the way patients were treated, resigns in the short time he started working in the establishment, taking his wife and daughter back to his home.

He continued doing the tests on Lurdete and Aninha, but now holding them in the basement of his house. However, with the population of Carpazinha hearing the various cries coming from the house of Virgulino, a mass invasion eventually took place at the site, and believing that the state of the girls was the result of Virgulino’s experiments, they buried him alive in his own backyard as a form of lynching. Aninha and Lurdete were then sent back to the Sanatorium.

Lurdete and Aninha remained hospitalized in the Sanatorium for a long time, doing much more absurd things than before, like using their own blood as paint to paint the spiral symbols, or starting to scream when one is separated from the other. After years, in 1950, with the attack of the Electric Scratcher in the Sanatorium, the two end up dying left in their cells, probably from hunger, thirst or lack of medical care. In the end, the two eventually merged and turned into one creature known as "Black Maggot", or "Ooze Maggot", a monstrous being made almost completely of black ooze, still being able to see the remains of the girls' bodies inside.
