Lila Bonelli was one of the protagonists of the Paranormal Order series, present in Gruesome Christmas.^[2]

Lila Bonelli was a young woman connected to the spiritual world and the mystical forces of the universe. After her parents won a cruise for two in a grocery draw, Lila finds herself alone for the first time on Christmas week.^[4] Therefore, she decides to meet with old school colleagues in the Goodwill Moon's Camp, under the full moon reflected in the Diamond Lake, but something out of the ordinary begins to happen.

When trying to escape the Night Mutilator, Lila ends up getting trapped in one of the many bear traps in the region and decides to try to cut off her foot to escape, but eventually faints and is captured, where she ends up dying after having her body split in half after being thrown into the lake.

Appearance[]

Lila was a young woman with light skin, green eyes and purple hair tied by a black tiara. On the face, there was a beauty mark located below the eye. She wore a black cropped blouse with details on the sleeve, overlaid by a gray jumpsuit and sturdy sneakers. In addition, she wore star-shaped earrings, an eyebrow piercing and rings adorning her hand.

Personality[]

Lila believed in the vibrations and energies around her, including those coming from people. Believing in the universal balance and the "law of return", she treated everyone very well. Lila was quite quiet, optimistic and empathetic, always avoiding conflicts involving herself or her friends. Lila also proved to be a lover of animals, since she took care of Joto for most of the time, even with the dog causing problems sometimes.

Lila Bonelli lived in deep harmony with the spiritual world and the mystical forces of the universe; guided by crystals and energies of the stars, she sought to align her existence with the natural flow of the cosmos. Lila had Leandro as her best friend since elementary school. Side by side, the two lived many adventures and memorable moments, whether doing piercings, tattoos or "playing" with a Ouija board together.^[5]

On a special Christmas night, marked by the silver light of a huge full moon reflected in Diamond Lake, Lila decides to participate in a reunion with old school colleagues in the Goodwill Moon's Camp, where new possibilities and memories awaited to be built.

Yet, even with everything around her seeming to be in perfect harmony, a disturbing feeling seizes her, suggesting that something strange and mysterious is about to happen.

Gruesome Christmas[]

Lila, along with Leandro and his former high school colleagues, travels, squeezed, in a small blue car that had been rented. In the late afternoon of Christmas Eve, they transit, uncomfortably, through a mountainous region of Paraná. After some time of travel, the group arrives at their destination: the Goodwill Moon's Camp.

Lila gets out of the car with cramps in her foot and a little stressed from the trip. She picks up the food that she brought, while Ricardo carries her suitcase for her. The group sees a wooden cabin nearby and decides to check. Approaching, they realize that the door was ajar. Entering the place, they begin to discuss the conditions and reservation of that camp and, realizing that that cabin was too small for six people, and then they decide to go to the largest mansion on top of the hill, Juno House.

They enter the house, which was unlocked, and divide themselves. Lila goes to the kitchen to store the food that had brought, and Shanyqua and Leandro accompany her. Shanyqua finds an old newspaper and proceeds to read aloud about the disappearance of Regiane George in that same camp. Lila then notices that there is a fridge in the kitchen, but with its door facing up. Shanyqua is unsure about the oddities of the place and the group starts talking about. Then, Jorel and Nathalia come and join the discussion. Afterwards, Ricardo also joins the group.

Then, Lila, accompanied by Shanyqua, Ricardo and Leandro, goes up to the second floor and notices strange pictures hanging on the walls. Lila analyzes them better and recognizes a painting of the archangel Michael extirpating the fallen angels after they were expelled from Paradise, as well as other blasphemous paintings of demons and omens that something horrible will happen. Lila also notices a Biblical passage written in red on one of the pictures. Then she takes a Bible and looks for the specific verse, finding and reading aloud: "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." Trying to ignore it, the four go back down to the first floor of the house, meeting in the kitchen.

Suddenly, they hear a branch breaking in the back of the house. Leandro approaches the back door and something starts scratching the door. After the young people discuss whether or not to open the door, Leandro decides to open it. When they do so, they see a small puppy on the other side: Joto. Lila gives some snacks that she found for him, grabbing him in the lap afterwards, and the group starts to eat.

After eating, the colleagues take a picture to remember and start a Secret Santa Lila receives from Shanyqua a Juliet glasses, an album of Tanysha Swift, a top and two coupons discount, one being to make braids and the other to do natural tanning. She thanks her friend and, in turn, gifts Nathalia with a pink bag.

Then, with the Secret Santa finished, the group gathers the mattresses of the house in the living room and Lila lights an incense to clear the negative energies of the place. However, realizing that there was no room for one person, Leandro and Ricardo volunteer to go get the mattress from the other cabin. They leave and, meanwhile, the four who stayed in the house decide to play ouija board. Before they start playing, however, Shanyqua and Jorel end up finding some strange papers. Soon after, Ricardo and Leandro return, but talking about the presence of a serial killer in the camp: the Night Mutilator. The group starts arguing about what to do, but it’s too late. The Mutilator enters the house and begins his hunt.

Everyone, trying to be sneaky, spreads out. Lila follows Leandro to the back of the house through the kitchen, accompanied by Shanyqua, who comes right behind. A few seconds pass and everyone hears the cries of Ricardo fighting. Then, the three who were gone from the house notice, in the distance, the silhouette of the killer carrying Ricardo unconscious with him. Leandro decides to separate from the two and follow the Mutilator. So, Lila and Shanyqua return to Juno House, going to the entrance hall. Lila immediately tries to use the phone to call the police, but the line seems to be cut off in the middle of the process.

Lila and Shanyqua join Nathalia and Jorel and the four decide to investigate the rest of the house to find something that can help them. Going up to the second floor, they see a door from an attic on the ceiling. Lila puts Nathalia on her shoulders to try to open the passage, but they realize that it is locked. Jorel goes to the game room, finding a video camera, and the rest of the group accompanies him. Lila, searches the corridors for a key to the attic, but ends up finding some old photo albums with photos of a couple traveling through Brazil and some documents from the house, which had an application for adoption denied, on the name of Alice Lucina, in 1982. Lila then goes to the game room and shares her findings with the group.

Analyzing the photo album with Nathalia, Lila comes to the conclusion that this couple was doing blood sacrifices on full moon days, with a same symbol being drawn repeatedly. Suddenly, Jorel starts acting strange, asking meaningless questions and seeing and reviewing, in a loop, the recording of the camera he found earlier. He then reveals to the others that he hadn't rented the camp and actually brought the others to help find his missing brother, whose last known location was there. Shanyqua starts arguing with Jorel, while Lila listens, completely silent. After a while of conversation, they decide to go ahead and investigate the tent area of the camp.

The group leaves the house and follows up the hill. Arriving at the top of the mountain, Jorel almost steps into a bear trap, but is stopped by Nathalia. The group sees old tents and, further down, a stone tombstone. Approaching, they realize that it is a tomb, which was excavated with bare hands, revealing a skeleton illuminated by the Moon. On the tombstone, Lila notes, in addition to the name of Alice Lucina, a Ritual symbol, associating the symbol with what she saw earlier in the photo album, also knowing that it is a Ritual of Blood. While they talk and theorize about all that, Lila notices the Mutilator coming. She gets scared, screams and runs in a shot in front of her friends. Lila passes the killer, running desperately, but when she least expects it, she is caught by a bear trap, falling, with one of her feet stuck in the trap.

Jorel and Shanyqua run past Lila and leave her behind. Meanwhile, Nathalia stops to help. The Mutilator walks towards the remaining two, even more slowly than before, as if he mocks them. Lila tries to open the trap, but she doesn't. Nathalia tries to open the trap, but she doesn't either. The killer comes even closer. Lila gets desperate and borrows Nathalia’s knife. She then begins to try to saw her own foot off. To buy time, Nathalia throws the bag she had earlier won directly into the Mutilator, hitting him full and taking off his mask for a brief moment. Lila, in a final attempt to save herself, continues to dismember her foot, but feels that she will faint at any moment. She tells Nathalia to go away from there and save herself, and the friend obeys. Lila faints in pain afterwards. Her body is taken by the Night Mutilator and thrown down a cliff, breaking in half when it hits some rocks near the lake.

Abilities[]

The Fault in Our Stars: Lila always believed that the universe sent signals subtly, hidden in small details and moments. At the beginning of each scene, she can spend 1 DP and choose a number that symbolized her luck at that moment between 1 to 6. If the result is her lucky number, she gets +2 in skill tests until the end of the scene. Otherwise, the next time she uses this ability, she can pick another number as a lucky number. When she rolls one of her lucky numbers, the amount of numbers returns to 1.

Effort: When she does a skill test, Lila can spend 1 DP to receive +2 in the test.

Tough: Lila receives +4 HP.

Juliet Glasses: The confidence that these glasses gives to Lila is able to overcome any barrier. Once in the session, it can replace a test’s Attribute with her Presence attribute.

Tanysha Swift's Album: Remembering the songs and choreographies, Lila feels her body lighter. Once during the session, she can get +2 on a test involving Agility.

Top: The comfort of the top is immeasurable. Lila could easily run for hours wearing it. Once during the session, she can get +2 on a test involving Vigor.

Discount Coupons: The thought that Lila will look beautiful increases her self-esteem. Once during the session, she can get +2 in a test involving Presence.^[6]

Relationships[]

Leandro: Lila and Leandro were best friends since elementary school, and from a young age they did many things together, from playing games to tattoos and piercings. Because she knew him for a long time, Lila already knew the way Leandro acted, always trying to justify his actions and protecting him from the judgment of his former colleagues. Lila showed genuine concern when she saw that Leandro decided to follow the Night Mutilator to save Ricardo, who had been kidnapped.^[7]

Lila had a great fear of elevators, this thanks to a traumatic event that experienced as a child, where she spent hours stuck in one.^[8]
Initially, Bela would name her character Ametista (Amethyst), but the idea was discarded because it is not such a common name.^[9]
