Jae-Yoon, better known as only Jae or X, is a serial killer and one of the antagonists of the special Gruesome Christmas. A mysterious figure wearing a hood that covers their face, with a red X, they're a partner of the Night Mutilator in their hunt to kill people in the region of Inquisidor do Vale.

They made their first appearance by locking a group of travelers inside the Juno House and making them look for the keys to the exits in a kind of gruesome game. During his hunt, Jae incapacitated and murdered Ayla. After the survivors escaped from the house, he began to spy on them, performing several surprise attacks to hurt them.^[2]

After some jumpscares and surprise attacks, during a chase, Jae attacked and sacrificed Mike and Lucio, stabbing both of them to death.^[3]^[4]

At the end of the events of Gruesome Christmas, Jae is arrested by the Order, after being immobilized and defeated. While being restrained, Jae claims she has a much greater purpose than just making her victims.

Appearance[]

Jae is a young person with Korean features and dark hair, wearing strong black makeup around her eyes, red lipstick and possessing a fake beauty mark on her chin. She wears a red leather coat with a hood, dressed over a black suit, also having several belts attached to her body and a pair of gloves with cut fingers. While wearing her hood, a red X appears in front of her face, without much explanation of how this X works.

Behaviour[]

Jae presents an imposing and mocking behavior, treating his victims as if they were nothing, playing everytime with their psychological. During his attacks, Jae always announces his arrival by whispering "Shhh" to those he will attack. Hiding in the shadows, Jae attacks his targets when they least expect it, taking them by surprise. When he starts his chases, he moves quickly, running almost supernaturally to his victims. When his hood falls, Jae shows a slight expression of despair to put it back.

Past[]

Before becoming a killer, Jae-Yoon was a financial influencer, following in the footsteps of their father, Park Chan-Yoon, a Korean mega businessman. However, their career was in decline, and it got even worse when, on September 20, 2022, they got involved in a mess inside a ballad with the former GIB participant, Vera Docinho. With this, Jae disappeared, and at some point, they joined the group of assassins, also composed by Deputy Aguiar and Dalmo Magno.

Throughout her journey in the paranormal world, Jae often used his abilities to take revenge on personal enemies, transforming his search for revenge into a series of illicit acts fueled by past hurts.

Gruesome Christmas[]

On December 21, 2022, Jae appears near the Juno House, observing the group of people who had arrived at the Goodwill Moon's Camp after an accident with their bus. She performs a sadistic prank with these people, locking all the doors of the house and forcing them to look for a set of keys to escape. Jae hides in the library while waiting for his victim to arrive, and after some time she reveals herself to Ayla. During a chase around the house, Jae brutally sacrifices the girl with their knife.

Throughout the night, Jae lurked at the survivors like a shadow among the trees, occasionally attacking one of them randomly. Later, when the group took shelter in the Eclipse Cabin, some of the travelers decided to split up, leaving the cabin and looking for the deputy Aguiar. With this, Jae came out of a closet and pursued the survivors who were still in the cabin. In this chase, she killed Mike and then Lucio, the last after he takes off her hood in the middle of the fight and see their face. To the surprise of those who weren't killed, Jae was actually a partner of the police deputy, who revealed to be the Night Mutilator. The two kidnapped Jorge, Melissa and Breno locked them in the Juno House's attic.

Three days later, another group arrives at the camp. Some of them are killed by the Night Mutilator without Jae’s interference. She only appears when the survivors of both groups join and leave Juno House. One of the survivors, Shanyqua, gets trapped in a bear trap, calling the attention of the two killers and causing the group to be ambushed by both. As the girl was left behind, Jae slashed her with their knife.

Later, Jae approaches Jorel after he trapped the Night Mutilator in the remains of the camp pier. She offers the boy a place on their team to look for the Crown of Thorns. The two notice Jorge and Breno after they have thrown a smoke grenade at them. The figure prepares to run towards the two survivors, but Jorel shoots her with his revolver, starting a fight between Jae and the three survivors. He backs down after a while and says that the three are "screwed" when Dalmo, the Colossus, approaches the scene. However, Dalmo is run over by a van from Ordo Realitas who has just arrived at the camp. From the van, three Order agents get out to help the survivors. Jae is immobilized by Jorge and disarmed by Breno. Despite the agents' requests for the killer to be spared, Jorel still shoots her, only for Jorge to get in front of the shot and die on the spot.

Jae is arrested by agent Hugo Longo and thrown into a van with Jorel, who went crazy and became the Menhunter after killing his own brother. She is taken to the Order's base with the Night Mutilator and Dalmo and imprisoned there.

Trivia[]

Jae is a non-binary person and can be referred to by any pronoun.^[5]
- Originally, Jae was a gender-undefined character during the development of the special for a previously unknown specific reason. So Bif, one of Gruesome Christmas's writers, suggested putting Jae as a non-binary person to bring this representativeness, while still retaining the original motive.^[6]
