It never moves, but it's always there.
Paranormal Order RPG Playbook
The Idle is a Paranormal manifestation of Knowledge which has the sole purpose of observing chosen people, slowly destabilizing them, making them claustrophobic, since whenever they enter somewhere small as an elevator or closet, the Idle will also be there, watching closely. All those haunted by the Idle report that no matter where they look, it is there, and it never seems to try to do anything other than observe standing still. Despite showing itself to its victim, it is totally invisible to others. Despite this, it is totally real and can cause very large physical damage when it wants.
Appearance[]
The Idle has a completely slim and tall humanoid appearance, having large legs and disproportionately long arms that reach to the ground. Its skin has a brownish and rotten tone, with its neck and shoulders being connected by lines formed from its own flesh. Its neck is long and distorted and completely disfigured, holding only a crooked head without a mouth with empty eyes and a small white dot imitating pupils.
Behaviour[]
Unlike other creatures of Knowledge, the Idle does not appear to have a will of its own or even perform independent actions. The only thing this creature does is observe its victims anywhere, being able to teleport to any location in the victim’s field of vision, which slowly brings them to madness. Panic can make them try to react or attack the creature, being the only moment whose Idle acts in its own way, retaliating violently, but not fatal, aiming to incapacitate, but not kill the target, causing the person to die of hunger or thirst.
Despite everything, even being invisible to others and being real to its chosen one, it seems to stop existing when the target closes his eyes, which leads many people to seek absurd strategies such as sewing their own.
Trivia[]
- The Idle is very inspired by the entity of the film It Follows.[1]
- One of the reasons that made Cellbit have the idea of creating the Idle was the time he slept with a mannequin in his room.[2]
