For Gabriel Opspor's friend, see Gustavo.

It’s like an itch inside my head, there's a question, and it's consuming everything [...] It's you, it was you.

Gustavo Dohmer[3]

Gustavo "Guto" Dohmer was an Ordo Realitas agent and a former police partner of Elizabeth Webber, later becoming her apprentice.[4]

Guto was mentioned in the first episode of Deconjuration, but he would appear at first in the 5th episode, appearing in a state of transformation into an Existed.[5] He ended up dying in the attempt to escape the St. Menefreda Orphanage, being killed by the Degolified due to his slow.[6]

Appearance[]

Miniatura Guto em Desconjuração

Gustavo was a tall, half-fat man with dark hair and beard and black eyes, wearing a brown button-up shirt and dark pants during the events of Deconjuration.[7][8]

After being trapped in the orphanage, his body was almost all tattooed with horror stories, equal to those of the Existed, with his eyes becoming totally whitish after a while.[5][9][10]

Biography[]

Past[]

Gustavo Dohmer worked for the Federal Police, and was the police partner of Elizabeth Webber, a medical and forensic scientist, until she walked away to investigate a paranormal case. Intrigued by his colleague’s sudden departure, he went to find out why she left the police and eventually found out about the Order, becoming an agent.[1]

Desconjuração[]

Gustavo decided to help Webber to investigate the Deconjuration Order, a mysterious cult associated with an occultist group that, somehow, was connected to all the cases that the agent participated, and the two began an independent investigation for answers.[1][11] While housed in an apartment on the New Dawn Building, Gustavo and Elizabeth are kidnapped by the building occultists and taken to the St. Menefreda Orphanage, where they're held prisoners by the Escribes.[12] In this place, the two are victims of torture by this occultist group, having numerous writings tattooed on their body.[9] Because of this, Guto began to gradually transform into an Existed, losing his speech and becoming slower.[10] One day, a team of agents sent by the Order, formed by Joui Jouki, Kaiser, Arthur Cervero and Beatrice Portinari, guided by the occultist Dante, shows up and frees Guto and Liz from their cell.[13] However, while trying to escape from the orphanage, they come across a Degolified that begins to chase them.[14] Despite Elizabeth’s efforts to keep her friend alive, Guto is grabbed by Degolified’s black hair[15] and is killed in front of the group.[6]

The Letter to Guto[]

The Letter to Guto is a text written by Gabi Cattuzzo, who played Elizabeth Webber.

Gabi wrote the text to be a monologue between Liz and Gustavo while she was unconscious in a flashback that happened at the beginning of the 6th episode of Deconjuration. However, the monologue didn't occur, causing the text to be revealed only in a stream held by Gabriela on 12/07/2020.[1]

Although the monologue has never happened and therefore is not canonical, the Letter to Guto is a great synthesis of Elizabeth’s trajectory, and so can bring to the reader a clearer view of the psyche and history of the character. Read the letter in: The Letter to Gustavo.

Trivia[]

  • Before even appearing in Deconjuration, Guto was already mentioned a few times by Gabi Cattuzzo on her streams, and even came to be mentioned indirectly by Liz in the 8th episode of The Secret in the Forest, when she thinks of calling one of her "work colleagues".[16]
  • Right in the beginning of The Secret in the Forest, Gabi mentioned in her streams an investigator who worked with Liz in the police, known as Augusto Wattson, being the possible previous version of Gustavo in Elizabeth’s Backstory.[1]
