That's what I really always dreamed, weird things like this, since childhood... And now I'm here. [...] Too bad I don't have my camera right now.

After that, he said it would be a great opportunity to be finally in contact with everything he wanted to know: the aliens, the paranormal, everything. Biography[]

Past[]

Guilherme Santos was born on November 27, 1976, in Anteninha do Piruacu, a city of Minas Gerais.[7] During his adolescence, he maintained a blog on the internet where he posted videos made with his camera, about aliens and other things. While looking for something to record, he met Alexandre, a young skateboarder from the region. The two became best friends from that day on, and they joined together to the group The Five, under the leadership of Morato Vertaler. Besides meeting Xande, Guizo also meets Francisco Albuquerque, Dara Venturini, Lírio Tellini and Voytek Nowak. The group investigated paranormal creatures, and Guizo made recordings of all the experiences. But, one day, when the group returned from a mission in a sewer, Voytek disobeyed the leader's orders, telling the rest of the team that they would be able to defeat the Aliens present at the location if they went back into the sewer. Guizo supported the idea, thinking about the possibility of being able to record more creatures while fighting them. But, when they came back the way they were leaving, Voytek was surprised by a horder of Aliens, being dismembered and brutally torn apart by the creatures. Scared, the rest of the group run away in to the sewer, while Morato tried to fight with the monsters. Later, the team would return to that same location, however, Voytek's body would never be found, leaving only a Dogtag on the ground and a feeling of sadness and guilt in the survivors, with Guizo being one of the most affected for having supported the idea.

Signals from the Other Side[]

Guizo meets again with his team at Café's Pizzaria to receive the next mission from their leader Morato, but not before the group intercepted and destroyed a Dark Crawler lurking around the diner's parking lot. The group request an pizza while they wait foi to Morato shows up, but he is late more than the usual. In the meantime, a suspicious man enter in the diner and go to the kitchen's back. Guizo and the others go after him and the man introduces himself as Calisto Besatt, Morato's old companion. He explains that their leader needed help and directs them to the Zucchini Farm after seeing a video of Morato left on his computer. On the way by van, another van, black, begins to follow the group and Guizo, directing his camera to the van, has a strange sensation and sees an UFO flying in the sky. He reports to the group, but only Chico seems to have seen it with him.

Arriving at the farm, Guizo and the group get frightened by the burnt cornfield in strange symbols. With other questions in mind, Guizo uses his Distort Appearance ritual to create a beard and become muscular, getting information more easily from the farmer, Adágio. He explains that Morato told him not to watch TV at dawn. The Five investigate the house and find tapes with hidden messages from Morato, as well as a strange tape with a hiss that affects Dara and Chico.

Following the investigation, the five climb into the tree house and find Morato’s temporary secret office at the farm. There they find another video explaining about the Aliens' Guide that Morato wrote. Upon finding the guide, the group begins to seek the infiltrated aliens in the farm that Morato had said. They perceive the first signs in Mr. Adágio. Comparing with the descriptions of Morato, Adágio was being parasitized by an Interfloral. To save him they needed to give a thermal shock to him without the alien felt threatened. The group tries to throw the man in the river, but it doesn't work and then the Interfloral arises from Adágio and consequently kills the man.

They confront the creature, with Guizo assisting the group with his rituals. When they drop the creature, they begin to argue about what they would do next, but are surprised when the parasite gets up and throws himself in Guizo’s face. He feels the tentacles inside his mouth and begins to have a vision of a huge door at the end of a long sinister corridor. He begins to receive information about the Aliens, as if they themselves were talking to them, but he quickly wakes up from the trance when Xande removes that creature from his face, and then they finish the alien. Due to the noises of the fight, the group sees Alberta, Adágio’s wife, approaching and to avoid worse disorders, Guizo transforms into Adágio to calm her down. He succeeds, but is amazed when he needs to kiss her, which he does grudgingly. When night falls, the group is called to dinner with the family. Alberta asks Donisvaldo to come down for dinner and, unsuccessfully, Xande and Guizo go up to talk to the young man. Don reveals to know about the group and asks for their ID cards. Xande and Guizo deliver and Don comes clean, saying that Morato had recruited him to help. He shows them a tape with a message from Morato about people across the lake.

The two go down and meet the rest of the group. After investigating the corral, the five decide to go to the other side of the lake, following Morato’s information. There, they meet a small group of hippies who want to be abducted by aliens. They talk to the group a bit and discover that the camp was near a transmission tower. They investigate the tower and find features in the environment that refer to one of the Aliens of Morato's guide: the Fummu. They organize to face him and throw a smoke grenade to fight the creature. The group has a turbulent battle against the Alien, Guizo gets hit, but manages to help the group with his rituals. He enters in the mind of the alien and repeats "The Five" infinitely, affecting the creature. After the fight, Guizo looks at the hippie camp and notices a green light. When he looks more closely he sees many people dressed in black coming out of black vans and kidnapping the people from the camp. When Guizo calls the group and they return to the camp, there is nothing left on the site. They investigate the camp, but soon Guizo notices a flashing light on the other side of the lake. It looked like an SOS signal coming from Don’s bedroom window and that’s enough for the group to return to the farm as soon as possible. However, not before Chico could extract valuable information from the computers of the transmission tower.

When they return they find Adágio’s body, but standing and speaking disturbingly, as if it had been replaced by an alien. While the rest of the group goes up to talk to Don, Lírio and Guizo stay downstairs distracting the false Adágio. They try to avoid looking at the television and end up like Alberta and Luan, who were mesmerized by the glitches on the screen. Guizo and Lírio cannot help themselves and begin to fight the false Adágio, who had already begun to threaten Guizo. They destroy the creature and turn off the TV, eventually taking Alberta and Luan out of trance.

They join Chico, who was following a parallel investigation in the tree house. Upstairs, they identify characteristics of a Memoflygian. After seeing hallucinations of their former team member, Voytek, the group decides to leave Chico alone since it was apparently the only way to make the creature appear. The group goes down and stands by, while Chico tries to talk to the others through the computer’s display. The creature finally appears, but it attacks Chico, who begins to go crazy.

Relationships[]

  • Alexandre: Guizo and Alexandre have a very great partnership relationship, because they are best friends, the two always have relaxed dialogues and interactions. Such a relationship comes from both being the occultists of the group and being very interested in aliens, getting extremely excited and ecstatic at any mention of their possibility. Guizo trusts Alexandre a lot, even leaving his camera with him so that he could film everything on the TV Varminho's Tower 6th floor while Guizo was escaping.
  • Dara Venturini: Guizo is very friendly with Dara, and this is apparent from their concern for their physical and mental integrity in the missions, though she sometimes doubts his plans to capture creatures and film them. At the end of the mission, Guizo was determined to save his friend, no matter what he did for it.
  • Family: Guizo doesn't seem to have the best of relationships with his family, since he avoids talking to them anyway. It is possible to see in the letter he left at his home that he only wrote that he was going to Minas Gerais, without mentioning about himself or about The Five, with his parents, ending the letter with a simple "we talk when I come back".[20]
  • Francisco Albuquerque: Guizo and Chico are close friends, since they are in the same group, and their relationship becomes even more affective, especially because both like technological objects such as cameras and computers. It is visible that they care about each other’s well-being.
  • Hito: Guizo had a brief interaction with Hito during the investigation, talking to her about Ahlevo and showing a certain interest in liking the same band, saying he would come back to meet her again.
  • Lírio Tellini: Lírio and Guizo are quite friends, with Guizo finding Lirío funny with his flashy way, always asking why he records everything. It is implied that Guizo always helps Lirío in battle by cursing his sledgehammer with a ritual, even though he is often afraid of it. They care about each other’s physical health and always seek to help each other. Guizo also has difficulty understanding Lírio, always wondering why he can never be quiet during missions, noting that the companion always gets excited at critical moments of the investigation.
  • Morato Vertaler: Morato was Guizo’s mentor, it is not known how the two met, but Guilherme seems to have a certain affection for him and worry about his disappearance, despite describing him as "an eccentric and somewhat paranoid person". Guizo gets very excited to see Morato back at "TV Varminho", following him with confidence.
  • Mandy: Guizo seems to be very close to Mandy, talking to her a lot and making jokes anyway, although she is afraid to serve as bait for paranormal creatures. Guizo met Mandy because Morato was friends with the pizzeria owner Mandy worked at, and where The Five met.[21]
  • Voytek Nowak: Guizo and Voytek were part of the same group before Voytek died. Guizo feels one of the biggest culprits in the death of his companion.[22]

Trivia[]

  • Guizo and Alexandre shared their birthday on the same day (November 27) and "died" on the same day (October 31, 1997).
  • Guizo and Alexandre have a secret greeting that they repeat several times.[23]
  • Guizo has a website where he publishes his authorial recordings made through his camera.[5]
  • Guizo's dream mentioned in the 1st episode of Signals from the Other Side happened in fact in the test session of Signals from the Other Side and is canonical in the story, with some changes. In the session in question, players were put to fight the Dark Crawler, resulting in the deaths of Lírio and Guizo, who was accidentally hit by Chico’s van and lost his legs.[24][25]
  • "Ahlevo", the print of his shirt, means "ovelha" (SHEEP) backwards, being the name of his favorite band.[26]
  • Guizo's favorite food is noodles.[27]
  • Guizo's favorite music is "You Are You".[28]
  • Guizo knows how to put piercing, since he applied in Chico.[29]
  • Guizo would have a Curse Weapon with Death Ritual, but Felps imagined that it would not fit with the theme of Signals from the Other Side, changing to the Blood element. However, Lírio Tellini's token with his sledgehammer cursed with Death was made, but never used in the series.[30]
