Once human, today just a shell desperately seeking to exist, doing everything possible to continue being observed by someone conscious.
Forever repeating your own name, in an attempt to be recognizable, memorable, remembered.
The Existeds are creatures of Knowledge different from the others, where someone becomes an Existed from the moment it understands the Other Side completely, after remembering the "Impossible Truth", unable to forget it again. A human with high Paranormal Exposure will inevitably have developed a mental barrier against the more maddening information from the Other Side. However, during the transformation process into an Existed, this barrier is broken, and the impossible truths disintegrate their mind, which transforms into a more powerful manifestation: The Remembered.
Despite being considered creatures, Existeds still have a human consciousness, which is suppressed in an infinite amount of Knowledge from the Other Side, thus causing their desperate search to exist in the midst of all these thoughts. They try to be observed so that they are not forgotten.[2]
Its first appearance was in the 4th episode of Deconjuration, coexisting with the Escribes within the St. Menefreda Orphanage,[3] until they encounter D-Force and become restless. They used to wander around the orphanage shouting their names, and serve as a "battery" that tunes the veil of the place at all times with their horror stories embedded in their skin.[4]
Appearance[]
Because they had different appearances when they were still ordinary humans before transforming, the Existeds differ. Despite this, they are commonly represented as having pale, yellowish skin, with hundreds of fearful words and phrases in different languages tattooed all over their bodies.[5] They have a cadaverous appearance and empty white eyes, with little or even bald hair, with crooked and fallen teeth; these creatures then have an almost mummified form. Despite the difference in height, varying between super thin or super strong, Existeds always have a skeletal and thin face.
When feeling threatened or disturbed, the texts on these creatures' bodies light up, as do their insides, with their previously empty eyes now a large yellow, as do their mouths.[6]
In the Remembereds' case, they are constantly in an offensive state, with Knowledge Sigils shining on their bodies, along with a bright, golden aura filled with faces that scream at everyone around them. floating around you.
Analyzing the tattoos on his body separately, we can find phrases such as:
- Inferno[7]
- Sem Fim[1]
- Cry[7]
- One[7]
- Dead[7]
- Pain[7]
- Hungry[7]
- How do I get out of this Labyrinth[7]
- Storys[7]

- Ho offeso D... perché il m... ha raggiun... che dov...[7][1][fn 1]
- Help[1]

We can also find tattoos of small horror stories such as:
- The baby's tentacles and slug-like body made Sam wonder if maybe, just maybe, his wife hadn't been lying about the alien abduction after all[7][1]
- It would have been helpful if his training as an archeologist had included more warnings about disturbing the bones of dead gods. Such precautions might have kept his organs safely intact and inside his body. Such warnings might have saved his soul from teeth not of this world[1]
Behavior[]
Much of the time, the Existeds is a neutral creature that does not attack immediately when it notices someone around it. On the contrary, the creature strains its decrepit body to hold the victim and be able to remain observed, fearing to live in the torture that is oblivion.[2] If the individual refuses to observe or takes any action that make the Existeds feel in danger, such as being trapped in isolation or attacked, the creature lights up and attacks it,[6] generally stopping only when the victim or itself is dead.
While the Existeds are naturally calm, the Remembereds are more aggressive manifestations that naturally do not care about the triviality of existence, seeking only to become a memorable story, shouting the name that the Other Side gave them while committing the most absurd atrocities to achieve this goal.
Trying to be recognized, these creatures keep reciting their own names over and over again. However, its pronunciation is of Sumerian origin.[9]
Existed's Mind[]
The first contact with an Existed's mind was during the 15th episode of Deconjuration, where Dante uses the Psychic Read Ritual in Beatrice Portinari after she returned in her Existed form, so he could make sure his friend was still alive in that body and if it would be possible to save her.[10] Accessing the Existed's mind, Dante hears a noise in his head that gradually increases, to a point where it becomes deafening and painful. The occultist realizes that the noise was, in fact, thousands of different voices shouting, one on top of the other, where individuals affected by the Knowledge are condemned to an eternal attempt to reinforce their existence so as not to be forgotten, remaining connected by the element that torments them. Amid the unbearable choir, it was possible to identify the voice of Beatrice Portinari. She told stories, screamed desperately and whispered insanity, with her thoughts overlapping. The only phrases possible to discern among all the others were:
My name is Beatrice. Beatrice. Remember me. Beatrice. I was marked. I was marked. To know all is to lose all. To know all is to lose all. Beatrice. I lost the mark. I lost the mark. Beatrice. I lost everything. Remember me. Look at me. Beatrice. Don't go away. Keep looking at me. Look at me. I need to exist. Look at me. Look at me. Beatrice. Look at me. Look at me. LOOK AT ME. LOOK AT ME.
Beatrice Portinari
After the ritual is completed, Dante takes severe sanity damage and becomes permanently blind.[11]
Later, it is discovered that, through the Psychic Read Ritual, Dante had access to the infinite immensity of Knowledge, where people with an affinity to this element find after transcending with 55% Paranormal Exposure. This was seen in the 9th episode of Calamity, where Carina Leone accesses it after transcending. Unlike Dante, who suffered consequences after having accessed it in an unusual way, Carina did not suffer any mental damage and also had the opportunity to ask a question to Knowledge itself.[12]
Abilities[]
- Other Side's Truth: By storing the complete Knowledge of the Other Side, the Existeds serve as a "battery" for the paranormal, as their constant despair can weaken the veil, making it easier for the horrors of the Other Side to affect reality.[4][13]
- Bioluminescence: When it feels threatened, the texts and interior of an Existed shines gold.[6] At higher levels of lighting, it can make it difficult to see during a confrontation.
- Flying: Some Existeds have the ability to move by floating through the air.[14]
Transformed People[]
Beatrice Portinari: In 2011, Beatrice discovers that her adoptive mother, Clara, was living a double life as an agent for Ordo Realitas and investigating the disappearance of her friend Arnaldo Fritz. In the documents relating to this investigation, the St. Menefreda Orphanage was highlighted, the place where the young girl had grown up. Intrigued, Beatrice returns to the orphanage in 2017, destroyed after the fire caused by The Host,[15] where is taken to the Deconjuration Room by Gal and has her body covered in several tattoos, completely connecting to the Other Side. To save her daughter, Clara becomes a Escribe to use the Change Memory Ritual and creates a barrier to block all the Knowledge acquired by her.[16] This blockade was Orpheu, a urutau who would accompany Beatrice, now without the memories of eleven years of her life. After becoming an agent of the Ordo Realitas, Beatrice goes on a mission at the Devilish Mansion where, during a battle against Traveler, Orpheu ends up being killed and the agent recovers all her Knowledge, becoming an Existed.[17] Beatrice ends up being shot in the head by Dante in an act of mercy to end her suffering.[18]
Gustavo Dohmer: Gustavo was a former Elizabeth Webber's police partner before she became an agent of Ordo Realitas. After his former partner returns from the Holy Cradle's mission, Guto assists her in an investigation into the Deconjuration Order, the prophecy of Kian and the Escribes. The two end up being kidnapped in the New Dawn Building by the Escribes themselves, who tattoo Gustavo's body and gradually turn him into an Existed.[19] When D-Force comes to his rescue at St. Menefreda Orphanage, Gustavo ends up being killed by a Degolified in the middle of his escape due to his slowness.[20]
Trivia[]
- Two Existeds can be seen in the Paranormal Order: Deconjuration opening, both in the Escribes' photo. An older Existed appears being hugged by Anthony Scelto and another appears lying down without half of its body, being lightly held by his right hand, by Clara, Beatrice Portinari's mother.
- At the end of the 6th episode of Deconjuration, before Kian's first appearance and the Escribes,[21] around 63 Existeds can be seen.

- ↑ In the Existed's image only this part is legible, however it is possible that the complete sentence is: "Ho offeso Dio e gli uomini, perché il mio lavoro non ha raggiunto la qualità che dovrebbe avere", which are the last words from Leonardo da Vinci
