If you leave the tap open, the Drowned Woman wakes up.
Paranormal Order RPG Playbook
The Drowned Woman is a Blood paranormal creature with complements of Energy and Fear that manifests herself from women who died in brutal and tragic drownings, whether accidentally or murdered.
Her first appearance was in the 9th episode of Deconjuration, being one of the creatures present at the Devilish Mansion, where she appears as a gooey reddish liquid that moves through the house's plumbing.[1] She was manifested from Fátima Mare's body, originated by the horror story written by Daniel Hartmann,[2] becoming real with the Forced Haunt Ritual.[3] This manifestation was killed by a point-blank shot from Arthur Cervero, while trying to enter his body to drown him.[4]
Appearance[]
The Drowned Woman initially appears as a type of Blood liquid, being viscous and reddish, with her mucous material being similar to the goo seen in the Blood Zombies's residue when killed. Her strange consistency and behavior makes the liquid seem to have a life of its own, and does not stain the skin in any way when taken from the body.[5] When free of the pipes, her physical form resembles a large naked female body that melts in this same goo in a way in which her putrid organs seem to melt together. She has a head with a completely disfigured face and extremely long and sharp teeth around her mouth, giving her a great biting force that would easily sever a human limb,[6] in addition to the top of her head having tentacles that resemble braided hair made from viscera. In her hands there are long claws that she uses to shred her victims.[7]
Behavior[]
While in her Blood form, she is able to manifest into any plumbing source in a haunted location, being invincible while in this form. The material appears as an ooze, but unlike Black Ooze, this liquid has a violent and impulsive behavior, trying to pull in and asphyxiate anyone in her closest range.[8] She proves to be very strong, requiring extreme strength to be dispersive.[9]
If her Enigma of Fear is solved, that is, all the water outlets in the place are blocked; the hydraulic valve is closed; and all the taps in the place are turned on at the same time,[2] she will be forced to manifest herself physically, unable to return to the plumbing when she is close to be defeated. While in her physical form, she acts quite aggressively, attacking in a bestial manner anyone who gets in her way.
History[]
The Drowned Woman originated from a legend made for children to raise awareness about wasting water. However, this story took on terrible proportions after the famous horror writer Daniel Hartmann adapted this story into a short story in one of his books,[2] using as a report, Frederico Mare's account and his experience with the paranormal.[10]
Story "The Drowned Woman"[]
"Well, I don’t seem to have much to do but wait for the plumber to finish his job, so at least I have time to tell you a story."
"I thought the Drowned Woman was just a little lie that my mother told me so I would stop forgetting about the open tap. "If you leave the tap open, the Drowned Woman wakes up."
"When I was 10 years old this story worked well, and I remember even comically opening the tap as little as I could, using just a few drops to wet the toothbrush. Always analyzing concentrated if the water color had some reddish tone."
"After all, I was terrified that she would pull me in and devour me."
"I also remember that at that time my dream was to have a large pool in the garden, since I was apparently the only one in my class who did not have one at home. My mother said it was to prevent the Drowned Woman from sleeping there. Obviously, it was just a little lie to hide the fact that we had no financial condition to have a pool."
"Or so I thought."
"Today, at the age of 28, I was finally able to realize this dream with my wife. Unfortunately, my mother is no longer alive to be able to enjoy this achievement with me. She left right after I graduated, thanks to a small slip she had while preparing her bath, beating her neck on the edge of the bathtub."
"The most painful thing was to find out that she did not die immediately, only lost the movement of the body. What killed her was the water, which slowly rose as the tub filled, until it covered her nose and mouth, without her being able to do anything to get out of there, just desperately waiting for her death to come."
"After that, it’s like I’ve become a hydraulic problem magnet. Every two months, some leak happened, some pipe burst... It got to the point where I took a short plumber technical course so I could at least fix most of these problems myself."
"And then... since yesterday, my wife has been complaining about the strange taste of water. Calling city hall, they keep saying everything’s normal on the local hydraulic grid. But the water was really with a strange coloration and a consistency even... viscous."
"My wife even claimed to feel the tap "pulling" her hand inside, I went to test and... in fact the water seemed to pull, stronger and stronger. I even had trouble turning off the tap."
"Obviously, there must have been some problem with the pressure in the pipes, I thought. I closed the hydraulic register and opened all the taps in the house at the same time, to check the pressure of the pipes."
"Then I realized that I should have listened to my mother... "If you leave the tap open, she wakes up." But this time the water flow was blocked by the register, there was no water outlet."
"Seven taps open around the house, all clamoring for the Drowned Woman, and none allowing her passage. If there was any water source still open in this house, I’d be in big trouble..."
"And, well, like I said at the beginning, now all that remains is to wait until the plumber finally finds the right pipe in the pool... which is clogged with my parts that she has not yet wanted to devour."
