Diego Thalles^[1]

Diego Thalles is one of the protagonists of the series Paranormal Order, present in Paranormal Order: Quarantine.^[2]

He was at Panacea Industries in Rio de Janeiro, registering for the medical trial in search of making quick money,^[3] which led to his kidnapping and being subjected to various experiments with the Infecticide virus.

Appearance[]

Diego is a man of medium height, brown skin, greenish eyes and messy blonde medium hair held by a multicolored bandana and with two front strands tied by royal-blue color props. He has a serene look, a beard with an unshaven goatee and a pierced left eyebrow, the initial part of his eyebrow. He wears an orange shirt underneath an anorak moss-green jacket with gold buttons and four pockets: two on the front and two on the top of the sleeves; plus gray pants with silver accents and brownish boots.

Diego carries a trekking backpack with various equipment on his back, including a purple sleeping bag, and a flannel of the same fabric and colors of his bandana, which protrudes from the left pocket of his pants. Finally, he wears a long necklace with four beads, two on each side, similar to those of his hair, with a white feather between them, tied at the end of the cord.

After the events of the "Part 1", and aiming to protect himself from the cold of Igneus Station, Diego ends up changing his clothes for some winter clothes left in the director's office. He closes up his jacket and puts a blue coat with the Panacea symbol stamped on the left flap, an orange scarf wrapped around his neck, brown pants with big pockets and brown snow boots.

Personality[]

Diego is a calm and friendly man, but when exposed to extreme situations, he becomes anxious and tense. He has a protective moral stance towards animals and a lot of empathy for other people. This is evident when he is deeply affected when Luis kills Mathias in front of him after Mathias Bergman had requested his own death. Despite his anxiety, he tries to maintain control in dangerous situations to help others, such as when he assisted Lucie in getting away from the monster or when he saved Jeffrey's life.

Biografia[]

Diego was looking for easy money and decided to participate in the research in the offices of Panacea Industries. He and Lucie went to participate in the survey with a man and his daughter. The questionnaire is extremely simple, involving questions about personal preferences and tastes. However, at a certain point, the four find themselves locked in the room and an object is left inside, releasing a smoke that makes them faint.

When Diego wakes up he finds himself in a very hot bunker with several pipes blowing smoke. He is tied up in the room as well as 3 other people, except for one young man, who was untying another man. The young man, known as Jeffrey, hands the keys to the other man, whom Luis then precedes to release the other people from the room, including Diego, who, after being released, assists the others in closing the valves.

When everything calms down, he talks to Jeffrey, Benito, Luis and Lucie about the situation. They notice the strange glove on their wrist, which injects an icy substance from time to time. they try to pull out, but to no avail. A certain time later a man, named Micael Cruzes, appears.

Michael says he works there, but needs their help to escape alive. Diego and the group, without many options, follow Micael to a room where they find a map that indicates where the main information and items they need to escape. In this, Luis, Lucie and Diego split from the rest and go to the medical bay to get an access card.

Arriving in the medical bay, the trio meets a man named Mathias. This man claims to be a local scientist, but he was already hopeless of surviving and demonstrating his morbidity and little regret. They tell him about the need to find a card and Mathias says the card is inside one of the lockers. But to access it, they need to unlock the locker and the only current way would be if the control computer was infected with the paranormal virus. Mathias then tells them about the small room where an infected person was trapped, the same room where the computer and lockers are.

The trio then devise ways to lure the creature to the computer. Eventually, Lucie opens the door and the creature goes up to Luis, who starts trying to fight it. After a few pushes on the creature by Luis and Diego, it returns its attention into the small room, where Lucie was now. It goes towards Lucie, who dribbles the creature up the small control tower and causing it to infect the computer and get stuck there.

When the locker opens, they find only one revolver with two bullets inside. Confused, they talk to Mathias, who tells them that the card was with him the whole time. He continues in his morbidity talking about all that and how his brother had become that creature they faced. In the end, he asks to spare him and take his life for good. Luís then without hesitation, uses one of his bullets and shoots the man, who falls dead. Diego is extremely shaken by Luis' sudden brutality, but is consoled by the two and recovers.

They return to the rest of the group, who found information on how to control the virus with low temperatures. In this, they access the system in the control room with the access card and try to turn on the site’s HVAC. However, they need to turn the key in the power room, so they leave together until then.

On the way many creatures begin to chase the group, and Jeffrey and Lucie end up being held and bitten by several of them. After the risky explosion caused by Luis to throw off the creatures, Lucie is injured. Diego then helps her walk away, saving her friend. However, he and Jeffrey stay behind and are brutally attacked. While Luis, Emi, Lucie, and Benito race to try to turn on the HVAC system, Diego and Jeffrey try to survive the creatures' deadly bites.

Luis runs as far as he can up the lever and eventually turns on the coolant and the creatures stop. Diego then, still badly injured, manages to save Jeffrey from death by stopping his bleeding and helping him get up.

The group sees that the door to the room where Micael had locked himself was open, and they go to see what was there. They find Micael alive inside, with his arm turned and wearing a glove on the other. He begins to explain about the research in that place and thanked the group for their help. However, he goes on to say that the real hell would start out there, where that creature was already hunting.

Trivia[]

At the Revealed Secrets event, the protagonists poster was announced for Quarantine, however, due to unforeseen events, "Sebastian Reis", one of the protagonists, had to be replaced by Diego.
Diego and Lucie lived together.
