Denis Batista

Denis Batista was an orphan kid on a terminal state, due to an advanced state of scoliosis. He was hospitalized in the Santa Matilda Hospital until he had his whereabouts declared unknown by the police.^[1]

Appearance[]

Denis was a little boy around 8 years old, with short brown hair. He wears a black short and a blue shirt, with the print of a three-bear family. He had a crooked spine because of the severe scoliosis.^[2]

As The Needy, he didn't have a face, being just covered on several scars.^[3]

Biography[]

Denis was a boy hospitalized in the Santa Matilda Hospital in terminal state.^[4] One day, the kid disappeared from the hospital after Luciano Carvalho kidnapped him under orders of Kian, on Leonardo Gomes's body, to be used as a essential part of the plan of the Deconjuration Order.^[5]

To accomplish this ritual, Kian told Dante that they were going to save a sick kid by stealing 20 years of two volunteers life, Fernando Carvalho and Luciano Carvalho. But Kian also said to Luciano that the ritual was a way to save his husband, Fernando, that had a advanced state of cancer, by sacrificing Denis, that was already going to die.^[6] Kian was actually lying to both of them, and it was a plan to transport his mind into a Marked: Luciano.

During the process, Kian kept Denis awake to use him as a source of Fear, while transporting Fernando's conscience to Luciano's body, and putting his knowledge about the Other Side on Fernando's empty body. After placing his mind, corresponding to the knowledge about Reality, in the body of Luciano Carvalho, he transferred the mind of Denis to the now empty body of Leonardo, leaving the empty body of the child to be possessed by entities of the Other Side, creating a monster of Blood and Death that tore Leonardo’s body apart, thus forging his own death and killing Denis Batista.^[7]

The Needy[]

The creature, originated from Denis' body after Kian's Deconjuration, escaped and caused destruction wherever it went, something that caught the attention of the agents Tristan Monteiro and Erin Parker, and a civilian, Beatrice Portinari. The monster attacked everything and everyone on its way, being contained by the three, until it escaped again. Beatrice was sent away from the place, but not before leaving her number with Tristan to be eventually recruited to the Order. Tristan and Erin entered the place where the ritual took place and found Dante with Leonardo’s body in his arms and Luciano fainted, as well as red remains impossible to identify. Luciano was rescued and Dante was arrested.^[5]

In Paranormal Order: Calamity, Denis' monstrous form was found, now being called The Needy. It knocked on the door of the house that the Order agents were investigating in Bariguara, calling for his mother. The civilian Cícero Gominho opens the door, thinking that he was about to make a pact with The Devil.^[3] After a long battle, the creature was defeated by Team Vultures, composed by Arthur Cervero, Dante, Carina Leone, Rubens Naluti and Balu.^[8]

Trivia[]

He was called Denis Pimenta in Calamity, probably as a mistake.
