Devilish Mansion is the ninth episode of Paranormal Order: Deconjuration. It aired on March 6, 2021 after a two-month hiatus.
Synopsis[]
The group faces off the mysterious Sect of the Masks in the Order's base and continues their investigation about Kian and the Escribes, exploring a haunted mansion.
Summary[]
The Sect of the Masks invaded the Order's base. The leader of the group keeps Ivete as a hostage, with one of her goons kneeling with a sword under the vulture's neck. But before the agents can react, she makes a slight movement with her arm, and everyone from the team feel their shadows stretching and the walls distorting, seeing themselves in a black and empty space, only illuminated by the same symbol that the Sect exhibited.
In this place, everyone tries to do actions, but what actually happens is their mouths moving, forming a sentence:
"We praise balance, and that’s what we came for. Oh, you... you people are different, can you see? Can you feel the reason of you coming 'here' and not all the others? We didn't expect to meet you, what a beautiful surprise. Moments like this are rare for us. A surprise for us, an answer for you, the balance, you can ask what you want, but only once..."
Dante warns them to not ask any kind of ambiguous question, but right after his talk, Beatrice questions him if he has any suggestions, but without referring to the occultist. A sound NO echoes from behind one of the masks, and soon the shadows take over the body of the agents, the sight of everyone gets blurred and everything goes out.
Arthur hears again the sound of dripping, and suddenly wakes up in his room at 02:11 AM on November 2. He remembers everything that happened, but he has no idea how he got home. Arthur meets Ivete in the hallway, but she acts normally, as if the previous day had been normal. But by talking with Kaiser, they realize both remember what happened. Arthur calls Joui, that answers strangely, only asking if the others were fine.
The next morning, the team receives messages to meet at the Order's base. Erin meets her grandpa making breakfast, but leaves without giving much explanations, as usual. Fernando sends several messages in the team group on WhatsApp, but everyone seems as lost as him. Kaiser also notices that his photos have returned to normal.
At the Order's base, Arthur and Kaiser meets Tristan and Walter playing snooker. Tristan also treats the previous day as something normal. They greet each other and await the arrival of the other team members for the meeting scheduled for 2 PM. Meanwhile, Dante wakes up in the ward and tries to talk to Marcela, who also doesn’t seem to remember the invasion of the Order’s base. When Joui arrives, Arthur questions him about the day before, remembering that he was not present in the black vacuum created by the cult. Joui says he was in "somewhere else" and refuses to explain further, only asking them to trust him.
Everyone gathers up and decides to look for Mr. Verity. For everyone's surprise, who opens the door is Mia, loading piles of documents from one side of the room to the other. She explains that she has finally convinced her father to take a break and that she will lead the meeting.
While some wait for the meeting in the main room, Dante and Joui talk in the hallway. The occultist asks if they could go to the prisoner’s room, but Joui thinks that it's best to not go there without permission. Joui quickly changes the subject and confesses to Dante that while they went to the 'empty place', he remained at the Order's base and ends the conversation without giving explanations, just saying that Nathaniel is not in his cell anymore. Erin goes to buy more grenades with Ivete, who clearly points out signs of fatigue, missing even some price bills. Tristan returns from her pool at 2:02 PM, and the team starts talking before the meeting starts.
Mia arrives with many envelopes and documents related to the investigation, but first she delivers the payment of BRL $1500 to each agent, both the mission in the case of the orphanage [2] [3] and The Host's Room case.[4] The redhead girl starts the meeting tracing the line of reasoning of the current investigation, starting with the disappearance of Elizabeth Webber and the veteran's investigation about the Deconjuration Order, the finding of the St. Menefreda Orphanage, the Escribes and their leader Gal, and the relation between Leonardo Gomes and the first occultist of the history, Kian. She hands out both files from Leonardo and the "last" Kian seen: Virgílio. she tells about the time of the "occultism peak", where the Escribes were one of the main cults being connected with various rituals and creature summonings. However, in an operation carried out by agents Verity, Chizue Akechi, Arnaldo Fritz, Francisca Parker, with the help of the actor Cristopher Cohen, Virgílio was executed. Doubts as to why an extremely powerful occultist was easily defeated hovered over all these years, until the present day, with the mass return of the occultism. Mia also delivers the adoption file of Leonardo Gomes, which apparently was signed by the priest Ronaldo Crosti, from the orphanage, and that it has several censures that were not normally done by some Order's agent. They discover that the 'mansion' that Leonardo was adopted in the city of Canadense was named "Devilish Mansion", by the fact that several residents disappeared there and strangely all the records of this house were destroyed or censored in the same way. Mia says this is as much information as she can get and wishes them good luck for the investigation. Joui interrupts her on her way, delivering some of her payment to the girl.
Before going to the mansion, the agents begin to prepare and analyze some of the findings, such as Kaiser who investigates the notebook found by Erin in the Host's Room. The hacker turns on the laptop that shows only one file on the desktop: Francisca.exe. While reading the file, he recognizes the name and calls Erin so that they can run and see what this program is capable of doing. When performing it, the engineer sees the screen begin to flash violently in various shades of purple, but Kaiser sees something else: the Host's symbol, the same one he investigated on the Deep Web. He also hears a female voice echoing from the notebook, which appears to have discovered the base of the Order and inviting Kaiser to stop fighting for the Order and join the occultists. He manages to resist and tightly closes the device, breaking the screen and taking off the battery soon after.
Meanwhile, Beatrice and Dante, joined by Kaiser soon after, equip themselves again in Ivete’s shop, which vents to Kaiser about being tired of being tormented by the eyes in the cracks and the drippings. Kaiser advises her to find another place to live while this happens, as this may be a problem for the house they live in. Later, Beatrice, Dante, Kaiser and Fernando go to Agatha's room, where they explain about the rituals they learned in the orphanage. Beatrice asks for a tattoo of the Flesh Out Ritual symbol and the occultist doesn't hesitate to replicate the symbol. Dante asks for some bottles of human ashes and animals to go to his old home, while Kaiser only asks for a steel chain and a pen. As they leave Agatha’s room, Dante asks Joui to accompany him to his old home, and Kaiser asks for a Cooler for the two to go there. Upon arriving at the apartment, they find it quite dusty and after searching for something from Leonardo Gomes, they begin to argue about it, with Dante saying that he was quite friendly and used the rituals as a means of helping the world. With the two not knowing how to use the Cooler app to order a taxi, the two return on foot to the Order, joining the others.
After a brief conversation with Erin and Tristan outside the van, the agents gather and go straight to the said "Devilish Mansion" in the city of Canadense. They lie to the doorman saying they are going to do a vlog for YouTube, he lets the van pass and then they arrive at the door of the mansion. Before entering there, Fernando takes a sedative, with the decision to be more independent and not need the help of Luciano for the case. Dante uses his Third Eye Ritual and is surprised by the paranormal activity around the house, which is worse than that felt at the orphanage. The group checks the surroundings of the house and decides to try to break through the back door, with Kaiser, Tristan, Arthur and Fernando betting if Kaiser manages to knock down the door on a kick; he fails and Tristan wins BRL $100 of the bet. The veteran stops the third attempt and takes one of his silenced weapons, shooting at the doorknob, breaking it and opening the door.
The agents begin searching the living room finding several packs of cigarettes and marijuana, several bottles of wine and a document of someone unknown. After discovering this information, they decide to separate into two groups. Group 1 composed of Kaiser, Arthur, Joui and Dante enter in a reading room. While searching the room they find a diary of a former resident of the house; group 2 composed of Erin, Tristan, Beatrice and Fernando enter the garage, where they find a box with several gossip magazines, especially one with Arnaldo Fritz and a very flashy title.
The agents continue to investigate and eventually reunite with Kaiser alerting everyone that heard noises coming from the second floor. This meeting is quickly broken up with Joui, Tristan, Erin and Beatrice going up to the second floor, and Kaiser, Arthur, Dante and Fernando checking the rest of the first floor. The group from the first floor arrives in a room with a functional printer, but that needs confirmation from the computer to make the printing. The group on the second floor, arriving at a certain corner, begins to hear more noises, this time steps.
At the same time as the noise, Kaiser feels a chill. A chill similar to what he felt on several occasions, especially at the time his father was about to die in front of him. But he can’t even remember his father, or his mother, or their faces, or even his own face. He runs straight to the bathroom, and looks in the mirror, but with a very strange feeling, after all not even the faces and names of the people with whom he is now, he can remember. He pulls out his handful of photos and just like every time, he slowly watches the photos change, with eyes, mouth and nose being removed. When he least expects it, the photos change one last time, with disturbing looks and smiles. He hears the steps again and despairs, trying to find a way to hide around the house. The group on the second floor hears Kaiser’s screams, and quickly try to hide in a newly found music room, staying for a few minutes hidden, and hearing nothing more of the steps. Tristan asks to check outside, slowly opening the door and despairing at what he comes across: absolutely nothing, a clear joke from the veteran.
He keeps walking down the corridor until he feels something strange in the region of his face. And suddenly, Tristan begins to be levitated, with his lips being forced to make a smile. Joui tries to grab him, but without success, and to his unhappiness, he further forces Tristan’s cheeks tearing, making it possible to see the entire dental arch and the veteran’s gums. In a scream choked with blood, Tristan has his face opened horizontally with a smile, and with the blood poured, fingers begin to appear in her mouth that were previously invisible. These same fingers take the top part of his head and rip it off completely, from the jaw to the end. An explosion of blood occurs, falling on both Joui and Beatrice, who see an invisible form, with long legs and arms in front of him, stained with the same blood.
This form somehow manages to dissipate the blood on top of it and becomes invisible again, leaving only Tristan’s dead, headless body at the agents' feet. Joui pulls out his katana and prepares for what may be one of the team’s worst nightmares.
