Cesar, I went blind, but it was a choice... so I could see.

Reunion is the eighth episode of Paranormal Order: Deconjuration. It aired on December 19, 2020.

Synopsis[]

Among removed memories, rituals of transcendence, memories of an eternal friend and a mystery of more than a thousand years, the Order agents, along with Mr. Verity, begin to trace their next steps in search of the truth behind Kian.

Summary[]

Elizabeth Webber was killed. All the team members were locked by the Escribes at the orphanage. They sit in their cells, just waiting for something impossible to happen: a rescue.

Meanwhile, Kaiser, practically recovered and with his blouse inverted in order to hide his burns, observes sitting on the floor his photos slowly being modified, now with mouths, noses and eyes removed. In this, a voice echoes from outside the cell. The door opens and Bruno gets inside. What was once Kaiser’s best friend, now resembles one of the Escribes, with tattoos of stories on the body and whitish eyes. The two debate about the power of the Deconjuration, about how the agents are weak and need to strengthen themselves to match the occultists and their friendly relationships. Bruno hands a chess piece to Kaiser, a black pawn, and leaves the cell, handing information to the investigation: Leonardo Gomes was once adopted.

Time passes by, and eventually, Erin and Fernando arrive in the cells to rescue their friends. The two find several keys in the far-right room of the corridor and free the agents. Joui and Dante, without saying much, take their items and go straight down to the courtyard. Upon arriving there, they realize that there is no longer any body at the site; only the japanese's sword, now with black spiral marks on its blade, stuck in the ground, and a flaregun on the side, with the letters E.W embedded in the cable. Dante recognizes that the sword is cursed with a ritual of Death. The two discuss how to strengthen themselves with the rituals and that, in the current situation, they would not even touch the Escribes. After a scream of Beatrice from the top floor, Joui goes towards the elevator to climb it to the others while Dante draws the Transcend symbol at the entrance of the orphanage. The group gathers in the courtyard and they then begin the process of transcending.

Joui is the first of the group, transcending with a crystal that had the same symbol as Dante’s ritual. Soon after, comes Kaiser, who transcends using two cursed items, a shard of glass and one of the papers left by Anthony. In Erin's turn, who tries to learn the ritual of a bracelet from The Host's Room, she is rejected by the ritual of the item, suffering a paralysis coming from the ritual itself and the bracelet is worn out. While part of the group tries to help the engineer, Beatrice tries to learn the ritual from the children’s book Chameleon Adventures, but the florist is also rejected for not being strong enough. The book loses its power and Beatrice becomes invisible, fainting seconds later. The group helps the two agents recompose themselves as Fernando prepares for his ritual. He records a video for Luciano before he possesses the body, explaining what will happen and saying that Dante is trustworthy. The transformation happens, and after seeing the video, Luciano steps on the symbol to transcend, using a ring. Strangely, Fernando and Luciano manage to communicate during the process, but Fernando is rejected by the ritual, leaving only Luciano to learn it.

After these events, Joui returns from his sneak inspection, with the decision to make a symbolic burial for Elizabeth, since her body is not in the orphanage. He remembers that the cemetery where he found Liz and Thiago for the first time is close to where they are. The agents decide to participate in this burial, but not before reporting the result of the mission to Mr. Verity at the base. Arriving there, they meet Tristan and Clarissa at one of the tables. Kaiser ignores them and goes straight to the research room, decided to find more information about the adoption of Leonardo Gomes, discovering a residence in the city of Canadense, on the 11th Street, where Leonardo stayed for a few months in 2005 and then returned to the orphanage. After that, he tries to insert the SD card that was previously placed on Joui’s phone, but the same thing happens before: several glitches on the hacker’s monitor, and The Host's symbol burned in pixels on the monitor, with a robotic voice saying: THANK YOU. The rest gather in the room of Mr. Verity, which is accompanied by Naomi Akechi, an agent carrying a sword and a toothpick in her mouth, and Mrs. Verity, whom he calls Chizue. The agents report the result of the mission, with the death of Elizabeth, the description of the tattoos of the occultists and the word Deconjuration. Verity gets incredulous with the past informations and, knowing about the agents have heard the name Kian, he gets nervous. He claims that in the past he killed Kian even though the agents said they saw the same thing. Verity advises the team to rest before they all go to Liz’s ceremony at the cemetery, so that more information about Kian is discussed. Joui asks that Dante be assigned to the investigation and, realizing the situation, Verity approves the idea and integrates it to Ordo Realitas.

During the brief rest, Beatrice and Fernando present the base to Dante, while Erin talks about the process of transcending with Agatha. With the news of Elizabeth’s death, Agatha is visibly shaken, which is noticeable when Beatrice, Fernando and Dante enter her room soon after. The occultist asks Agatha to tattoo the Destruction symbol on his arm, and so she did. When Kaiser goes to talk to Ivete, he notices more eyes in a crack in the closet, but even before he can do something, the vulture herself takes action and closes the door. The two soon realize they are seeing the same things: eyes in cracks and unexplained leaks.

The agents then go to the cemetery so they can perform the symbolic burial of Elizabeth Webber. In a moment of sadness and loss, Joui recounts how important Liz was in his life, how she and Thiago saved him in that same place, and how she was a mother to him. He leaves the flaregun on top of the grave. Tristan remembers the day he met her and how he saw that she would be a perfect agent, even though she didn’t realize it. Ivete points out that all who are there must still continue fighting for those who live and for those who have gone. A few seconds pass and a car is heard arriving at the cemetery. Mr. Verity arrives at the tomb, and points out that she was not an easy agent to deal with and that she did not investigate for the good of others, but rather to fill a void in her own life, and that on her journey, she found in her friends what was hidden within her. Arthur leaves a coin on top of the tomb, just as he did with his Vulture friends. And further away, the agents see more people coming to the grave: this time, Mia, joined by Lupi, arrives, surprisingly bringing Agatha together. The occultist approaches the tomb reluctantly and tells a little of her story, how she ended up in Gabriel's body, how she met the forensic scientist and how she realized that at the same time she hated her, she felt the same way she felt: the hatred of herself. Despite being too late, Agatha apologizes by throwing the book she had with her over the grave. Kaiser takes the photo he had taken with Team H at the Ape Hangers and puts it on top of the grave, saying that everywhere, Liz will be warming their hearts, just as his father warmed his. The agents leave the place after the end of the ceremony, going straight to the base of the Order, because at the request of Verity, some things should be revealed.

Arriving there, Verity, joined by Chizue and Agatha explains more about everything to the agents: Kian is the name of the first occultist in history, having 4000 years of existence. He is responsible for the creation of the Cult of Knowledge, a formal name given to the escribes. He remained alive using numerous rituals and sees himself as an immortal being, a god of knowledge, but Verity claims he's just a man, because he believed to have killed him in 2002, accompanied by Arnaldo, Francisca, Chizue and Cristopher, when he used the name Virgílio. He explains that this was the death that caused the fall of the occultism in the last 15 years, and that with this the veil had strengthened and the monsters and cults had become weaker. Verity deduces that if Kian did return, his death in 2002 may have been deliberate for something. The agents conclude that perhaps the escribes knew of their coming and that each one was a piece for the intentions of the occultist group. Verity reports that there is more information about the Host, collected with Johnny, Rubens and Samuel, and informations about the Nostradamus High School, and that Agatha also seems to be part of it. But by the time he intends to tell another crucial piece of information about Kian, he realizes that something is wrong and Dante also realizes: the door to the room, which was previously open, was closed in some way, but no one heard it. Whispers and noises are heard outside and then Verity realizes: the base of the Order is being invaded. He removes the painting from the wall and triggers an emergency alarm, also revealing a safe with several weapons. The agents take their equipment and leave the room. Leticia leaves the research room, informing that all the cells of the base are being opened. Verity opens the door of the main hall, only to be welcomed by several occultists dressed in white clothes, ropes tied to the neck and masks, and the leader of them, a black-skinned woman with braided hair exalted in the center. One of the occultists has a sword held around Ivete’s neck and the symbol of the leader’s mask stands out. Steps are heard from the direction of the cells, and to everyone’s surprise, leaves Nathaniel, with a smile on his face.

The Sect of the Masks has just invaded the Order. And it's here that the first part of Deconjuration ends!
