Worried about their colleagues, Erin and Fernando goes in search of their team in the orphanage, but they ends up trapped in the strange Host's Game, counting only with the help of two strangers to escape.
Summary[]
It's five at the morning. Erin and Fernando, the two team members who were recovering at the Ordo Realitas Base, are concerned about their colleagues, as they had not yet given a sign of life since their departure. They’re considering going after them at the orphanage, but not without talking to Mr. Verity.
Still in the Ward, Fernando approaches the stretcher where is Tristan, and sees a young girl, Clarissa Leão, sitting next to him. She introduces herself as an old friend of Tristan and says he is recovering from his injuries. Before leaving, Fernando and Erin talk with Marcela, that suggests to them to call their colleagues before doing something rash. In this, Erin calls to Joui's number and hears the voice of her grandma, Francisca Parker, what leaves her in shock. Soon after, she gets a location of a secluded place on the city limits.
Fernando and Erin decide to tell this to Mr. Verity and find him surprisingly awake, amid files and documents. The agent tells of hearing her grandmother’s voice, to which the leader of the Order speaks about how she was a great friend of his and is sorry for not having found her, even two years after her disappearance. After this, the duo decides to go to the location supposedly sent by Joui, and arriving in the vicinity, they come across a totally abandoned site, dirt road and a destroyed building. Fernando is in doubt if there really is the St. Menefreda Orphanage, but even reluctant he and Erin decide to go down and investigate the place, arriving inside they are faced with various debris and are caught off guard by two occultists who inject a substance that renders them unconscious.
After a while, Fernando and Erin wake up in a room with a duo: Johnny Tabasco and Rubens Naluti. They present themselves a priori as "bounty hunters", who in the middle of one of their "hunts" ended up being kidnapped by the same occultist group. Together, the four need to solve the sadistic puzzles proposed by the occultists as they are recorded by cameras scattered around the room.
The first puzzle consists of a door with two panels, both need to be tightened at the same time, the only problem is that one of these panels has the power cable cut. However, Erin with her knowledge of mechanical engineering manages to identify one of the objects in the room as an immense Tesla coil, which produces a large amount of energy and can be used to activate the panel off, then the group forms a human chain where the energy passes by connecting the copper cable to the panel and with that they complete the first challenge.
Upon opening the door, they come across an occultist who wears a technological armor with cables all over his body and a mask emitting a neon glow, he does not use weapons and his arms appear to be from a physical state of transition between solid, liquid and gaseous, very similar to the description of the Energy Existeds. They defeat the masked occultist and proceed to the next room, in it is possible to see a fallen man who seems to have been beaten, two screens, a red button written "Surprise" in front of a hallway with the floor in chess, and a tablet leaning on an altar with an occultist symbol drawn around. Erin has the idea of using the body of the occultist fainted to activate the coil, touching his hand the object begins to shine and it leaves a card that gives access to a box that was previously locked, inside it Rubens identifies some metal rods and some cables that can be used to connect the computer to the side. Making the connection, the screen asks for the first password with the hint “Freedom is at your hands”. Rubens quickly recalls that earlier Erin had mentioned that someone had written “04” on her right hand, he then types in the number and a new message appears: “Communication is crucial”.
Impatient with the pace of the puzzles, Johnny decides to press the red button to see what happens, and then from inside the screens, two ghostly creatures with many faces with expressions of despair, the feeling of looking directly at these monsters is like watching your worst nightmare take shape. They defeat the first creature and huddle together to kill the other, trampling and striking it with such fury that it is completely disfigured. After that, they go to check the boy who was previously unconscious, he identifies as Brian and during this conversation Fernando finely unravels the puzzle of the second password and asks Erin to look at his tongue while showing it, it was written “13”, they put the answer and a new text appears: “Listening is as important as speaking”. Rubens looks behind Johnny’s ears and sees “11”, Fernando puts the code and a new text appears: “Ironically, you can only see me when you couldn’t”, then everyone closes their eyes and on the eyelids of Rubens it is possible to see "02" written. After putting the last code, another door is unlocked.
Rubens opens the door, but there’s nothing on the other side, just a wall. Not knowing what to do, Johnny decides to take a chance and walk down the hall with the chess floor, and takes a shock so big that it is thrown back. Brian, then, returning to the first room, can see a small outlet in the corner of the wall where the door was and there they connect the tablet charger in the socket, which connects with an occultist symbol shining on its screen. Erin then takes the tablet to the Transcend ritual marked on the floor and focuses on that symbol, in doing so she learns the Blessing Curse Ritual, a ritual that would be something like a manipulation of luck and with this new skill she manages to pass through the corridor.
As she passes through the hallway, Erin comes across a purple box at the end and a room with two mirrors, one on each side. She opens the box and finds herself with a revolver and 4 bullets. The TV once again turns on and the robotic voice says that her freedom is at her hands. The corridor system is disabled and the others walk quietly through the floors. But Erin, who was just in shock and traumatized by the previous events, does not think twice and ends up shooting the agents, missing the shot at Brian. Fernando tries to help the engineer, while Rubens and Johnny search the room for some passage. In the end, they find a passage in the left mirror, and it is at this time that they decide to reveal their true identities to Erin and Fernando: they are not bounty hunters as they had said, but agents of the Order. Johnny takes off his shirt and shows a scar on his chest, opening it and removing a mini-grenade. He throws it against the mirror that explodes in several pieces, revealing a room with several monitors and two occultists, who see what happened, immediately flee. The agents take their equipment and go down the stairs, to confront the occultist group.
After many shots, Johnny and Rubens manage to kill the leader of the group, named as the Director, while Erin and Luciano, who awoke amid the tension of combat, end with the production, being the last killed by a rifle shot from Luciano. The four discuss a little more about relations with the Order, and find a map on top of one of the tables, with several locations marked, some specific as in southern Brazil, several locations in São Paulo, an archipelago in Europe and one near Mato Grosso. Johnny recognizes one of the locations as the orphanage where he grew up, sticking his knife in the middle of the location. The pair thank for the company in the mission and leave the place with their own car. Erin and Luciano stay for some more time looking for things, but now their destiny is more than clear: the St. Menefreda Orphanage. The place where their teammates are locked.
