The Lurker is the fourteenth episode of Paranormal Order: Deconjuration. It aired on April 10, 2021.

Synopsis

The agents start to prepare themselves to confront the creature known as The Lurker. However, some setbacks and Ivete's arrival promise to further complicate the team’s work.

Summary

Hugo gives a copy of "The Lurker and other horror stories", from Daniel Hartmann, to Luciano and Arthur. Knowing that Daniel was in the Devilish Mansion at some moment, they theorize that there may be the key to unlocking the mystery of The Lurker, the mysterious creature of the cracks. After Luciano recovers from the shock of encountering dozens of ripped cat eyes, he realizes that there's a page in the drawer. Arthur thinks it’s best if everyone gets together in the bedroom. Kaiser takes the wire, and stay with the teenagers, while Erin and Joui go upstairs. Luciano and Dante read the new page found. When Hugo hands him the book, Joui says he remembers the name Daniel, mentioned by Liz as an old deceased teammate. Kaiser researches about Daniel on his cell phone, and finds out that he participated in the Nostradamus School case.

Everyone comes down to read the book, while Dante tries to do a medical treatment on Joui and Arthur. Before Erin reads the story, Kaiser asks Dante to take Hugo, Cassiano, Tim and Eduarda back to the front house. The team begins to analyze the text, and Kaiser discovers that it is not the cat watching the character of the story, discarding the theory that Jennifer was watching her owners. But certainly she was involved, because Arthur realized that the eyes began to appear soon after the adoption of the cat. When Arthur picks up his notebook, his investigative instinct 'whistles' at the last 3 paragraphs, analyzing the situation, they come up with theories about it tracking cats who have suffered, and about pretending to sleep, and then they decide to sleep over the 2:11 AM time. Joui has the idea of burning the cats' eyes. Dante thinks of using his Mind Reader Ritual on Beatrice, and has a brief conversation with Luciano. They return to the table room, and Kaiser fetches alcohol, to burn the eyes, and Joui counts exactly 18 eyes, out of 9 cats. But he is prevented, thinking that the eyes can be the connection with the house. Kaiser becomes impatient with this situation and goes to the room, Dante also goes upstairs, and the two agents see in a crack the same eye as always, but they resist, and when Joui hears them, he burns the eyes, and they disappear with the same smell of incense, but nothing happens.

They keep planning, and Arthur gets a call from Ivete, worried about the time they are without news. Arthur explains the situation, and they think of bringing Ivete and Jennifer, which makes Kaiser have an argument with the group disagreeing with them, but in the end, she decides to come. Fernando returns and Erin explains to him everything that happened. Dante talks about the mind-reading ritual to Joui, and the japanese vents about his situation, and Dante supports him. Ivete arrives with food and weapons for the team, along with Jennifer, she takes the shotgun, while Arthur gets the cat, and soon they all go to the door of the room where Kaiser is, the group talks a little, and everyone goes to the door, Arthur putting Jennifer next to Kaiser.

Time passes, Ivete passes the things she took in the Order to the team, and the monster starts to approach Kaiser, no one hears the sound except the hacker himself. Kaiser manages to run fast to close the crack in time and shouts for the group to act. Joui, with Kaiser’s sign, opens the door with the flashlight on, which now shows the disgusting figure, a gray mass with several eyes, on its knees, elbows and head, and a central eye inside its huge mouth, trying to look everywhere, almost in a panic and anxiety crisis holding Jennifer, The Lurker.

Dante heals part of Joui’s injuries and Erin uses her Cursed Blessing Ritual, knowing that her first two shots will hit. The creature tries to escape, but before opening the door, Joui cuts off its fingers, but it throws himself into the corner, making somehow a duplicate figure of Kaiser, Arthur and Ivete ready to kill themselves. After a tremendous pain as if it was acid in his eyes in the three, Arthur takes a shot from his clone, and in the meantime, Luciano returns, who in reflex, shoots the ribs of the Devoured Arthur, Joui goes in the direction of the Devoured Ivete, who strikes back with an elbow, and when she tries to shoot him he hits with a kick.

Kaiser manages to dodge the shots of his clone and soon after, Arthur’s clone shoots Luciano in the face, tearing off a part of his face, the military screams in pain while shooting back, but it is Arthur himself who manages to kill his clone. Kaiser grabs cover on the bed to get his weapon and Dante tries to shoot Ivete’s clone, but it is Erin who kills her, shooting her, leaving only now the clone of Kaiser and the Lurker itself, who was still trying to hide. Joui nearly rips off Kaiser’s clone’s arm and in reflex, he takes a shot to the chest. Kaiser, realizing the situation of Joui, also tries to shoot his clone, but misses all the shots, Erin almost throws a grenade at the site, but rethinks and helps Joui out of the room, but the gymnast resists and advances to attack, however ends up taking a shot from Kaiser’s clone and falls unconscious on the ground. Kaiser stands in front of Joui’s body to fight his own clone and protect his best friend and Erin in the meantime manages to get Joui’s body out of the room.

Meanwhile, Dante tries to help Luciano, who was still screaming in pain, Arthur goes to the room and in this situation, arrives at the room and says "Rebirth", managing to curse Kaiser’s weapon. Dante manages to heal Luciano, who thanks the occultist and goes to fight too, while Dante himself notices Erin carrying Joui and goes to help him wake up. Ivete shoots the Lurker and Arthur curses the Vulture’s weapon, Kaiser closes the closet where the Lurker was trying to hide, Dante heals Joui and does the first aid.

Ivete keeps shooting the monster and manages to blow its shoulder, and once again, the agents present in the room feel tired, as if they have not slept at all. Kaiser’s clone turns and shoots Ivete in the leg, who drops her weapon and falls. Joui wakes up, and Kaiser’s clone shoots the real Kaiser once, but he manages to stand up. Dante goes to the room where the fight is happening and Joui gets up, angry, trying to pass, but Erin and Dante stop him, the Devoured Kaiser tries to shoot Ivete once again, and Arthur, realizing the situation, quickly gets in front of Ivete to take the shot in her place, wanting to save her life, and in this movement, hits the leg of the clone, making him miss the shot that hits the pillow, Luciano takes the opportunity to shoot the clone, exploding the unburned part of the face of that identical figure to his teammate. Arthur, after saving his mother’s life, takes the shotgun she wielded and kills Kaiser’s clone with a shot that bursts the remaining part of his face, Joui, staggering, passes Erin and Dante even as the two try to stop him from passing and picks up his katana while Luciano gives two more machine gun shots, leaving the Lurker with no legs.

Kaiser, in a final act, crying, tired, shoots the creature frantically in his various eyes, however, only hits a shot that bursts the big eye in the mouth, killing the monster on time and fainting soon after. Joui heals Ivete, and Dante assists Kaiser, who is passed out on the bedroom floor due to fatigue. Joui takes off Arthur’s jacket, managing to see a symbol, such symbol being the same symbol of the paper that was given by Anthony Scelto as a souvenir in the St. Menefreda Orphanage, and marked on the dolls given to children in 1970.

Intrigued by the symbol, the voices whisper between laughter that Arthur is being observed as well as the dolls. Joui does not understand what the voices said, and Dante asks if it is for Gal.

	Story "The Lurker". THE LURKER Before we start this story, are you sure you’re not being watched? Did you check if you closed the door? Do you even know what darkness hides? I would recommend to lock everything carefully, after all, we do not want any crack of possibility that something goes wrong, is not it? Again, waking up with this damn trickle. The same sound that’s been waking her up every morning for the past two weeks. Furious, she raises once again seeking the source of the problem, already imagining that would not succeed. It watches her check all the taps, which were properly closed. It has also not rained for weeks and even the plumber who called twice said there was nothing wrong with the installation of the house. After all, since when did her sleep become so sensitive? When she was still a child, not even the cries of help coming from the next house woke her up. She slept like an angel, hugging her favorite doll. The clock ticks at 2:11 AM as usual. The problem was so recurring that Jorginho had already adapted his biological clock to receive his food, meowing and rubbing his legs.She smiles, how could a kitten who was so mistreated before being rescued from the streets be so spoiled? Those little yellow eyes can conquer anyone. It watches her drag the stool to reach a new food pack on the top partition of the closet, while holding her purring kitten in one of her arms. Her face already demonstrates the lack of sanity of an observed mind. The trickle gets louder every night. No matter what room she is in, the sound doesn’t seem to come from a specific place, but it always seems to be getting closer. It watches as she turns off the lights and goes back to bed, pulling the duvet to cover her feet. Not because she was cold, but from an inexplicable instinct. Unable to fall asleep, all that remains is to look at the closet next to the bed, which never seems to close properly. After all, why do all closets have the same problem? Always need to have a damn crack, no? Of course she knows there’s nothing inside, so... where does that constant feeling of being watched come from? It watches her hug her cat, one of those it chose to accompany. She forces her eyes closed to sleep, trying to lie to herself who does not know it is there. It cries one more tear. She’s so beautiful. The lights are off... She won’t notice if it comes a little closer, will she? It’s not like the door’s gonna close before it goes back into its crack... She’s so beautiful up close.
