GM[1]
Remember is the eleventh episode of Paranormal Order: Deconjuration. It aired on March 20, 2021.
Synopsis[]
After an intense investigation, the agents decide to put together a strategy to rest in the dangerous mansion. But in this cursed place, anything can happen.
Summary[]
The episode starts with Joui finding four coffins with symbols marked on top, three of which are locked with chains. The fourth coffin was without the chains, and could be opened easily by him and Beatrice. Dante identifies that the symbols embedded in the top are of knowledge. By effectively opening the coffin, he doesn’t seem to have anything inside, but by pointing the flashlight at the coffin, they come with at least 30 black photos, with an audio tape seemingly floating and standing out. Beatrice tries to play under the tape, but she fails, seems to have an invisible barrier inside. Strangely, she takes the tape. And by putting in the recorder and starting the audio, everyone hears the same man of the tapes they found, but this time, clearly insane. The agents can’t understand almost anything he says, trying to get the keywords: ''I only exist while I’m registered, I only exist, the cameras look at me, the images create me''. Discussing further, Dante thinks of burning the photos, in an attempt to erase the existence of the invisible creature. After a long conversation, Erin proposes to heat the photos, to reveal, rather than burn them all. So Beatrice takes one of the photos from the coffin, and when she passes her fingers through the texture of the portrait, it seems to make a paper folding sound. She tries to heat up the photo, however, nothing seems to work. Dante tries to see something in the coffin, and he recognizes the barrier as a body, and feels that in his hands there is something, a paper. Taking a picture, Kaiser and the occultist gets scared, in addition to appearing a horrible corpse, all the photos are shown to be different stages of the decomposition of the body, and the symbol appears on the lid of the coffin. They call everyone, and the images disappear. Taking one more picture, now everyone can see. Dante tries to get the paper, with Beatrice taking the picture and Kaiser pointing the gun at the body. He takes the paper and realizes that he is like a draft of ideas about the monster of polaroids and devourer of memories. Kaiser then returns the paper, after picking it up for analysis, and closes the coffin. Bea notices a strange shape on top of the other coffins, in which deduces to be a kind of hexagonal fitting connected to the chains.
Leaving the room, Dante, confident, tries to open the chest of one of the rooms, however, the key does not work. Joui goes to the kitchen, intending to find something for the agents to eat. There, he finds several instant foods. Trying to open the tap to fill the pots, Joui takes a fright, waiting for the water to come out red and attack, but the water comes out normally. They cook instant noodles to eat. Dante decides to sleep in the van, and Luciano also goes there to eat, then. Joui eats with Erin by the pool and they talk, trying to distract from the stresses of the day. Arthur finds Kaiser confused about his memories, and he talks about some things to try to make the hacker remember. Beatrice makes food for her and Orpheu, and, after eating, she goes to van to get Tristan's jacket. She heads into the living room intending to sleep, but stumbles upon Kaiser on the couch smoking and watching the broken television. She talks to him about the difference in his behavior recently, but he doesn’t quite understand. Arthur calls the others to sleep in the room, and they all go there.
Beatrice tries to ask for Tristan’s notebook that was with Erin, but the engineer refuses, after she insists the two decide to stay together. Fernando regains control of the body and goes to the room. He receives news of Tristan’s death and is consoled by the team. Everyone discusses how the strategy of the rounds can be, to always keep someone awake while others sleep. They decide that Kaiser and Beatrice would be the first to stand watch for four hours, and so it is done. With the end of time, Kaiser wakes Joui and Arthur, who would be next. It is almost four hours when everyone wakes up with strong knocks on the door of the room and a scream saying that it is the police. After a tense scene of deception and mistrust, the policeman Juarez Pontes starts searching the team, while Ana Júlia, his partner, go upstairs. When the policeman arrives at Kaiser, he sees the photos and comes across a macabre smile, and when everyone on the team sees, they get desperate and worried, being a sign of the monster’s presence. In the middle of the confusion, Ana screams from upstairs and Juarez begins to get desperate. Joui takes the opportunity to try to imobilize the policeman who was pointing the gun at them. However, the asian is imobilized. Frightened Juarez tries to understand the situation, but he is lifted up by the mouth by the invisible creature. Kaiser takes a picture of the scene, and so the monster known as the Traveler reveals itself. There is an intense fight in which the policeman is beheaded by the creature. Joui gives a very strong sword strike in the air in search of hitting the creature, because it becomes invisible very fast. In this attempt he hits, feeling the power of the spirals of the katana’s death. A purple blood drips on the sword, which disappears a while later. When Kaiser takes a picture in the direction the sword hit, the monster appears, however, it disappears in a peculiar way, it compresses itself, and in a supernatural way, teleports behind Luciano, who manages to escape by jumping through the window. He finds Dante outside, who has been hiding there all along since he got out of the van, where he was sleeping, and heard the police. The Traveler, realizing its prey has escaped, disappears and teleports behind Joui. Fortunately, in a survival instinct, the young man attacks behind himself, right where the creature is. However, he drops his sword and fails to attack the creature, which grabs the Asian by the hands in an attempt to bite him. Joui manages to defend himself by taking a kick. Arthur gives two shots at the creature, one missing but the other hitting hard, bothering it. The Traveler jumps towards Arthur and hits its claws right through its chest. Beatrice shoots with her Crossbow, but does no damage. Joui attacks the creature by reflex, however, it dodges and sticks to the ceiling like a four-legged spider, soon after throwing herself on top of Beatrice, who falls to the ground.
While everyone from the team try to attack the creature, to get it off Beatrice, Orpheu flies trying to protect his companion, but has his neck broken by the beast. With this, Beatrice unlocks a series of memories of her lost past. The memories go back to when she discovered that her mother, Clara, has a double life as an agent of Ordo Realitas, until when she returned to the St. Menefreda Orphanage, meeting Leonardo Gomes. She remembers that he ordered Gal to take her to the Deconjuration Room, where there she goes through the process and has several texts tattooed on her skin. As a consequence, she becomes an Existed, having access to all truth and fully connecting to the Other Side. This dark knowledge was so terrible that forced her mother to surrender to the Escribes to learn a ritual that would block that memory in order to prevent that knowledge.
The barrier that protected Beatrice from all this knowledge was Orpheu, who was now dead. With this, the ritual was broken and Beatrice returns to remember everything, ceasing to exist and returning to being an Existed.
Joui manages to kill the creature, plucking the rest of its head with his bare hands, and continues to beat it in anger. Dante gets shaken by his friend’s condition. He tries everything to get her back to normal, spending all his ritual ingredients and all his strength to try to heal her to the maximum, however, she remains an Existed. Dante’s suffering is such that by cutting a part of Beatrice’s hair and putting it in her reliquary along with Jasmine’s hair, he curses the necklace with a ritual. Joui gets up and goes up to the second floor with the monster’s head in his hands. He kicks the stuck door and yells at the voices asking if that’s what they wanted, but no answer. Kaiser, as soon as the creature is killed, recovers his memories. He notices a hexagonal crystal in the creature’s body and guards it. Soon after, he communicates to Arthur about his memories and then decides to climb up to see how Joui was. Luciano escorts Erin to the outside of the mansion, as she was in shock and spent all her time hiding in the rack during the battle. He hands Tristan’s notebook to her and the young woman realizes that Beatrice had written a eulogy for Tristan while she was awake on patrol with Kaiser. Erin reads the text and the episode ends.
