True art is only a reflection of the feelings of those who contemplate it.

Constantino Moretti was a Brazilian painter, heir to the Moretti family, who became famous thanks to his "temporary" paintings. He was the husband of Noralma Moretti, an explorer and historian who joined the painter to discover the history of his family. The two moved to the island of Tipora to seek a new inspiration for the works of Constantino, but after the death of his beloved, the painter mysteriously disappeared.

Constantino is mentioned several times by Montel Florence and the inhabitants of the island, and appears in a photo and a large portrait at the entrance of his mansion in the 1st episode of The Secret in the Island.[2]

Appearance[]

Constantino was a tall, thin man with brown hair just above the height of his shoulder. In a photograph, he appears wearing a gray overcoat, a brown vest worn over a white shirt, along with a blue tie and brown pants.[3]

During his old age, Constantino had white hair and beard, wearing his gray overcoat under a yellow vest and his brown suspender. He also used a wheelchair for locomotion, in addition to having a serum kit attached that injected himself with paint.

Biography[]

Past[]

Little is known about his past, yet Constantino Moretti is a descendant of the Moretti family, a family of Italian origin in which most were explorers and bon-vivant,[4] who were traveling the world in search of new discoveries.[5]

Constantino inherited much of the items from his family, and in the midst of these items, he found a barrel storing a strange liquid. With his dream of being a great painter, Constantino used this liquid to paint a painting, realizing that the liquid brought absurd sensations to people when they watched something alone. He then continued to paint various paintings with this paint and organize various exhibitions, enriching more quickly and selling various paintings to various people. Realizing that art had more value than money, Constantino began to research the origin of this ink, hiring a historian, Noralma Reiziger, who would later become his wife, inheriting the surname Moretti.

In the midst of the Moretti family’s past research, Noralma found information about the origin of the paint being on a distant island, 250 kilometers off the coast of Espírito Santo: Tipora. The two traveled to the island, where they met William Vurtoren, the lighthouse keeper of the time, who was also a descendant of the Moretti family, as the guardian of the island’s secret. Upon learning of Constantino, William allowed him to find out about the paint, even breaking the rule of not abusing it on account of the painter’s paintings. Soon, Constantino decided to build a mansion on top of the hole of origin of the paint. It is known that the construction of this huge mansion required a period of three years and many workers moved to this island to carry out the construction of the work. This provoked a settlement of these people in the place, causing the emergence of Tipora's Village. And many of the workers also went to work inside the mansion as servants for the Moretti family, living entirely on the site. Meanwhile, Constantino abused the paint, painting several paintings for the employees he felt deserved to appreciate his art.

At one point, Constantino began to fall ill and argue with Noralma frequently, and the servants began to wonder, despite feeling sorry for the painter who was sick and angry. Suddenly, Noralma died, having been thrown off the cliff behind the mansion by Tobias F. Conclior, one of the employees, who was in love with her. This caused Constantino to lock himself up on the third floor, in his bedroom and studio, and begin to make several paintings depicting the image of his wife.

One day, a group of six children from the village entered the mansion, at the invitation of the daughter of two local employees. Only five of them went up to the third floor, with one being left behind for having no interest in what was hidden there. Four children huddled at the door of the studio, trying to see something, while one specific child was watching a painting alone. Suddenly, one of the kids pushed other one, that made the door open and come across the scene of Constantino, already with white hair and sitting in a wheelchair, with a kind of serum injecting himself with paint in the studio. The pushed child ended up falling on top of a bucket of paint, staining his entire hand and making it burn. The four begin to scream and run desperately, except the one who was watching the painting. This child was feeling for the first time the feeling of true art, and upon seeing it, Constantino invited him to the studio. He taught him the most important secret of true art, of needing to feel it. A feeling that this child would only feel that time, when he painted his first painting, with paint.

Much time passed and with that, Constantino was reported missing.
