I'm tired of losing... And this will be my last battle, no matter the outcome.
Synthesis is the ninth episode of Paranormal Order: Calamity. It aired on November 6, 2021.
Synopsis[]
After an intense battle through the corridors of Ordo Calamitas, Team Vultures takes time to rest and recover. But soon, a new challenge arises before them: to report losses and betrayals to a weary Mr. Verity.
Summary[]
After the fight against The Host, the katana of Joui Jouki now houses the Relic of Energy. By questioning the Magistrate about his weapon and how the relic should be stopped, she conjures a sheath capable of containing the power of his katana,[2] and gives him a new blade, now with sigils of knowledge.[3] Joui also asks about his memories when he was at the Sect of the Masks and she says that, he as a marked, should abandon his mask by choice. Joui then hands over his item to the Magistrate, thus retrieving all memories of all the events that took place this past year.[4]
After that, the team follows the Magistrate until she reveals a last door, that didn't have been opened yet. Inside, they visualize five mirrors, where each has thematic adornments of each of the Other Side Elements rounding them: blood, death, knowledge, energy and fear.[5] Before they try to do anything with the mirrors, Balu abruptly puts his head inside the mirror of Blood, being affected by the immensity of feelings of what was on the other side of the mirror and almost going to sanity, being calmed by Dante. After that, from the inside of the mirrors, the agents acquire five different items: in the one of blood, a beating heart; in the one of death, a skull crying black ooze; in that of knowledge, a scroll; in that of energy, the golden watch of Arnaldo Fritz; and in the last, a page with instructions to make Kian to play on the rules.
Arthur, Balu, Rubens and Carina feel the other side calling out for them and, with the exception of Balu, they all go to transcend.[6] In the process, each one dialogues with the entities on the Other Side with whom they have affinity. Meanwhile, Joui meditates and watches the farewell video of Kaiser on Arthur's phone. Balu walks through the ruins of Ordo Calamitas, and Dante walks in the direction they had entered the place, encountering five agents of the Order: Mr. Verity, Jiro Yukami, Olivia Lefleur, Aaron and Naomi Akechi. He tells them what happened during the mission, leaving Verity in shock at the news of Arnaldo being The Host.[7] Dante leads the agents to meet the rest of Team Vultures, and they all end up passing a mission report to Mr. Verity.
After a long talk about Kian, Clarissa, Gal, Arnaldo, the Host, the Devil, the Sect of the Masks, Holy Cradle, the Relics of Calamity and personal affairs, everyone goes to where the Metallic Dragons had gone previously. Arriving there, to Verity's sorrow, they see the bodies of all of them, in addition to Tristan's jacket, previously used by Clarissa Seeing this scene, Verity says that he is tired of losing every time, and that no matter the outcome of this war, it would be his last battle..[8] As they go upstairs to The Colosseum, Dante and Arthur receive dozens of message notifications from Agatha, where she reports finding several Escribes entering the Colosseum, and decided to fight them, even if she had Arnaldo's grimoire. Right after, Ivete calls Arthur saying that the temporary base of the Order, the Leone's Mansion, was being invaded. In addition, Arthur also receives 4132 SMS notifications from the number 04130211, with the messages variating between "dumb" and "free me".[9] Between two desperate situations, the agents of Ordo Realitas divide into groups so that both problems are solved. Joui, Carina and Dante stay with Verity at the Colosseum, to look for Agatha, while Arthur, Rubens and Balu rush to get to the Leone's Mansion as quickly as possible.[10]
