Page from Arnaldo's grimoire[1]

Amphitheatrum is the fourth episode of Paranormal Order: Calamity. It aired on October 2, 2021.

Synopsis[]

Ordo Realitas moves to Leone's Mansion, to continue searching for the Relics of Calamity. A new clue coming from the pages of Arnaldo Fritz's grimoire leads the Order agents to a place known by so many, stained by blood, which refuses to crumble by time and is ruled by chaos: The Colosseum.

Summary[]

While Carina transcends, Dante observes and notes the events of the process. The occultist analyzes a rapid movement of the agent’s eyes, which tear and shine in gold. Therefore, Dante notes that the color would be related to the element of Knowledge.[2] Arthur and Agatha go to lunch. Balu and Rubens go towards the Tower of Pisa, taking some photos during the tour. After, they separate, with Rubens going to have a coffee.

Arthur returns to the Leone's Mansion right when Carina leaves the trance, and so they have a brief dialogue. Rubens arrives in the garden of the house where he meets and talks with Clarissa.[3] At a certain point, everyone comes together. With Balu carrying a box of ice cream, they talk and go to meet Clarissa; where she reports finding footprints of blood coming from a corner in the garden. Upon approaching, Team Vultures sees the symbol of the Pact marked on the grass.[4] After some time arguing, the agents go to the room where Mr. Verity was waiting with Arnaldo Fritz's grimoire.

Along with Marc Menet, the group begins to analyze the pages, highlighting the messages both in black light and reflecting on the writings. Suddenly, joining the page with the symbol of the Sect of the Masks, two extra pages appear in the Grimoire itself. One of them talks about the sect and the other mentions his possessor’s search for the origin of the Other Side. It is also mentioned how Arnaldo found information about the symbol of the Calamity. In black light, there's a mention for The Colosseum of Rome. On recommendation of Mr. Verity, the group prepares a plan to find hidden information in the Colosseum, after a strange reaction from the leader of the Obscurité after hearing the word "Tenebris".[5]

They go to the bunker in the basement of the mansion, finding, in the computer room, Samuel. The agents ask for a review in the garden cameras, where, analyzing the end of the video slowly, they can see a figure of flesh forming and revealing a hooded silhouette until the moment the cameras are covered in blood. Arriving in the weapons room, they talk to Ivete, improve their weapons and prepare to go to The Colosseum.

After a while on the trip, the group enters The Colosseum. When passing through the gate, they notice security guards closing the museum present on the site. However, with the use of their deception, they manage to convince them that a schedule had been made. The group then manages to access the gallery and comes across paintings of the former rulers of the Colosseum.[6]

While Dante, Arthur and Rubens continue to analyze several of the paintings, one of the janitors walks past them suspiciously and opens the front door. Dante senses something paranormal coming from the room. Balu and Carina even try to trick one of the security guards into entering the library, but soon after they are summoned to talk to the director and go towards the room of Vinicio Ludos.

Balu and Carina go to the room and are first welcomed by the boss of the place, while they hear people coming from behind, in the gallery. Dante tries to get into the storage room, but Arthur is recognized by a viral video of the Scoundrel Vultures by the janitor. The workers and the janitor play cards with the agents doing some attempts to check what was in the room, although it is unsuccessful.

Carina and Balu have severe difficulties in maintaining the lie. In a moment, after being questioned by his axe, Balu looks at the Leone and both understand that they would have to tell the truth. The duo explains that they are part of Ordo Realitas.[7] Vinicio says he knows the Order more than he would like and reveals cables glued to his body. There is also the old symbol of the Colosseum in his clothing, which turns into the Host's Symbol.[8] The security guards behind draw their weapons and prepare for battle.

The fight starts.[9] Balu starts being attacked from behind and turns around, knocking and striking one of the security guards with two axe strikes. Carina uses her new form, leaving her lock of hair and eyes golden. She attacks the director with her nunchaku.

At the warehouse, one of the security guards realizes the farce by hearing gunshots. The janitor runs from the agents. The guard and others of her co-workers reveal themselves as followers of the Host. Dante quickly uses his Decadenza, and Arthur shoots. One of them uses a taser, paralyzing Arthur. Dante repeats his ritual and Rubens finishes one of them with a shot. Dante uses another ritual to enter the mind of one of them, questioning if Kian is involved in what just expects. In response, Arthur creates a blade of blood on his arm, finishing the opponent.

In the director’s office, Balu cuts in half the head of one of the goons. Carina kills Vinicio, although another goon has fled. The Leone chases her and catches up with her. The woman pleads for her life and hands her a note.

Everyone gathers again and Dante realizes the farce of the woman, who was manipulating Carina and uses his Decadenza again. Abruptly she activates her costume and exposes the Host's Symbol. However, she's disarmed by Carina. While everyone was arguing, Rubens, mercilessly pulls a knife from his waist - the knife of his former companion,Johnny Tabasco — and kills the fugitive, stabbing the knife in her skull.[10] Continuing the search for documents, the group is faced with the information of the existence of an ancient Order, Ordo Calamitas, whose base had the Colosseum built up. The door to the base had never been opened, explaining the nomenclature "Semper Clausa". Team Vultures finds two more documents, which would need the masks to continue the investigation.

As the search for the masks happens, the agents hear a person shouting upstairs. As they go upstairs and Arthur aims with his sniper, they see a member of the Host falling after a cut from the sword of a hooded and masked being. The mask, however, is unlike any they are looking for. The vulture instantly recognizes the figure.

It's Joui Jouki.

And there are not few reports that affirm seen these "shadow people" - they are present in innumerable cultures, constantly ilustrated with despair looks. Whispers also are repeatedly mentioned, indescribable words accompany the presence of these frightful silhouettes - some eccentrics reports details even the presence of ropes tied around their necks.
However, all founded information about the "Shadow People" indicate that yhese creatures never directly seem to affect ou change the environment which they are found, as they were just observer entities, following restricted and unbreakable rules.

Diary of God page with its own Symbol.[11] Examining the page using black light, it's possible to see the Tenebris Symbol and the words "Flavian Amphitheater".[13]

In this search for the origin of the Paranormal, maybe I have been naive to think that I would only find allusive informations about the entities of the Other Side. It was evident that at some point, I would run into those similar to us in the past.
The oldest records of those that dedicated their lives to study and combat the Other Side have a transversal physical point in common. Maybe the popular saying was really right... All the ways brought me here.
Hidden in a place created by Reality, known for many, stained by blood, ruled by chaos and that refuses to ruin with time.
Sometimes we face the answers in the eyes and even so we can't see them. If there is a heart in the center of Reality, nourished by the hypocrisy of our struggle against the Other Side, that place would hold the answers I need to find. A place protected by Balance.

Book "The Governors of the Colosseum" about Aeneas.[25]

Aeneas
After the death of the precedent responsible for the Amphitheatrum Flavium, this role was assumed surprisingly not by one of the members of the nobility or circle of the emperor, but by one of the most popular gladiators, who survived numerous games of the Colosseum: Aeneas.
Aeneas' records of insanity are not few, with evidence of some of the most brutal gladiatorial games in the arena’s history. Many associated his fiery obsession with having participated in numerous wars and sieges during his lifetime, before becoming a prisoner of war. This is easily confirmed by his terrible scars, which he proceeded to hide with a mask, continuing what has become a tradition among the governors of the arena.

Book "The Governors of the Colosseum" about Amphitruo.[26]

Amphitruo
The real responsible for the construction of the Colosseum, at the behest of the emperor Titus Flavius Vespasianus, hidden by most history books.
After the construction of the Colosseum was complete, Amphitruo would be responsible for entertaining the Roman people and emperors with deadly games and completely stormy plays, forcing the "actors" (prisoners, criminals and enemies of the emperor) to suffer the real conditions of their characters - those with tragic ends in fact were murdered in the middle of their plays.
No one knows his real name or origin, but many also associate Amphitruo as the real culprit of the Great Fire of Rome a few years before the construction of the Colosseum.
Modern historians question whether its existence is true, considering the lack or supposed disappearance of evidence over the years.

Book "The Governors of the Colosseum" about Liber.[27]

Liber
Although, compared to the other governors, Liber is responsible for the fewest deaths, he is considered one of the most ruthless organizers. Accounts of his tyranny and self-centeredness may explain why there was no information from the numerous governors who came before him, as Liber ensured that damnatio memoriae was ordered to all the governors preceding him.
Liber was known to rejoice in the despair of gladiators, forcing them to work in pairs to survive wild animals or other gladiators, forming bonds of friendship or even sometimes loving relationships, to reveal that after months of cooperation only one would come out alive, forcing those who love to murder each other in front of the Roman people.
