Bernardo is an old gentleman who takes care of the Carpazinha Cemetery, living in a small house within the confines of the region with his wife, Madalena, and a dog, Matias.
Appearance[]
Bernardo is a very thin and hunchbacked old man, wearing a white regatta and being dirty from the ground.[1] Like Madalena, his hearing is also not good, making verbal communication with him noticeably more difficult when they're not in close proximity.
Personality[]
Bernardo is a very religious person, faithfully believing that some demon was causing the grass around the tomb of Rafael Montes to rot. He is a gentleman who appears to be kind and who wants to do his work at the cemetery correctly, in addition to being interested in soap operas.

It is known that Madalena has taken care of the cemetery for many years before The Secret in the Forest, together with her husband, in addition to adopting a dog in an unknown year, naming it Matias.
The Secret in the Forest[]
During the events of the 7th episode of The Secret in the Forest, Bernardo and his wife are distracted by Arthur Cervero, Joui Jouki and Elizabeth Webber inside their house while Thiago Fritz and Cesar Cohen excavated the tomb of Rafael Montes. At one point, he tries to call the police but has his phone cut off by Arthur, who makes up a story that there was a demon in his phone.[2] He becomes very worried about his wife when he finds her lying on the ground and feeling sick after Joui's rear naked choke.[3]

- Bernardo's appearance is similar to that of Eustace from the series "Courage, the Cowardly Dog".[4]
