Benito Camelo

Benito Camelo is one of the protagonists of the series Paranormal Order, present in Paranormal Order: Quarantine.[1]

He was at Panacea Industries in Mexico City, registering for the medical trial in search of quick money,[2] which resulted in his abduction and exposure to various experiments with the Infecticide virus.

Benito is a Mexican man of medium height and long black hair, up to his neck. As accessories, he wears a cobalt-blue beanie with a white border, hiding a scar on his head,[2] rectangular lens sunglasses and a slim tie of the same color as the cap. Later on the exit of Glacius Station, resulting from the cold climate of the place, Benito switched to wear a reddish scarf, wrapped widely in its trapezoid, and left the tip fallen in front of its ribcage. A coat that remembers his medical coat, being white in color, pocket on the right side, details of thermos on top and tight leather details on the arms; all in a bluish grayish shade, the right sleeve bented to the elbow. Posteriorly, on the leaving of the Glacius Station, resulting from the cold local weather, Benito alternated to a clothing that has a reddish scarf, largely wrapped around his trapezium, and leaving the falling tip in front of his rib cage. A coat that reminds of his medical jacket, being of the white color, pocket on the right side, and tighted leather details on the arms; all in a bluish-gray tone, the right sleeve is folded up to the elbow. Appears to be wearing the same style of blouse as the coat underneath, overlaid by a bluish blouse and his blue tie. He wears dark grayish gloves, with a glove attached to his right wrist that injects substances from time to time. A white belt, buckled on his wide gray pants, which appear to be tighter around the ankle, with white details and the same white moccasins he was wearing.

Personality[]

Benito is an arrogant and individualistic man, always focused on protecting himself. He is snobbish about his doctorate title and often uses it to emphasize his intelligence to others. His moral compass appears to be highly questionable, as he generally doesn't care about the lives of children. However, he chooses to save Emi, a young girl who was being infected by the paranormal virus, on multiple occasions. In the end, he always looks out for his own best interests but relies on others for support when he knows he can't do it alone.

During the last events at Igneus Station, after seeing Lucie's sacrifice to Nidere for the life of young Emi, Benito becomes extremely protective of her. He decides to save the girl at any cost in honor of Lucie’s life, showing how compassionate and caring for others. He ends up taking a leadership role after her death and becomes very hostile to people who want to hurt the girl, even sacrificing the lifes of Carol and Micael on behalf of the little girl.

Biography[]

Benito Camelo is a man who considers himself highly intellectual and became part of a research project at Panacea Industries. During this, he meets Jeffrey Bacon and Luis Miguel Kennedy, who are also participating in the research survey with him. The survey was extremely morbid, involving questions about the sacrifice of lives and cannibalism for survival. Benito didn't seem too surprised by the questions and answers them casually. However, at a certain point, the three of them found themselves locked in the room where they were with an object that started releasing a smoke that causes them to pass out.

When Benito wakes up, he finds himself in a very hot bunker with various pipes emitting smoke. He is tied up in the room, along with three other people except for Jeffrey, who was helping Luis get free. Benito asks for help since he realizes that the two of them have the keys to the restraints, and once he's released, he assists the others in closing the valves that were releasing heat and smoke into the room.

Once everything calms down, he talks to Luis, Jeffrey, Lucie, and Diego about the situation, and Jeffrey explains about the mysterious man who had given him the keys. They notice the strange glove attached to their wrists, which injects a cold substance from time to time. The group tries to remove the glove, but without success.

Meanwhile, the mysterious man returns and introduces himself as Micael. He claims to work at the facility but says he needs their help to escape with their lives. Benito and the group, with few options, follow Micael to a room where they find a map indicating the location of vital information and items they need to escape. Benito, Jeffrey, and Micael then separate from the rest and head to the laboratory.

On the way, Micael hesitates with them, saying he would stay locked in a secure office while they go to the lab. Benito doesn't like this at all and grabs Micael's wrist, trying to drag him along and prevent him from locking himself in the room. However, the metal door closes and severs Micael's arm with the glove. Benito is shocked but takes the severed wrist of the man and decides to take it with him.

Upon arriving in the laboratory, they see a man fighting a creature to protect a little girl trapped inside a room. Although he doesn't care much, Benito and Jeffrey decide to help the man but realize he is already infected and without a protective glove. After the fight, Benito ties the dying man to the floor, but he starts begging them to protect his daughter. Benito and Jeffrey then open the door to the small room and find the young girl unconscious and infected with the virus. Benito is indecisive and checks to see if the girl is already dead, but she is not. Consequently, he takes Micael's severed hand and places it in the glove on the girl's wrist as an experiment to see how the glove works. When he does this, he observes something being injected into her, and the young girl starts to awaken.

After some time, the young girl wakes up and asks for her father. Benito is direct and tells her that he is dead. The child then sees her father unconscious and goes into shock but asks Benito to take care of him. Benito distracts the child and leaves her in the small room, saying he would check on her father, but in reality, he spends this time investigating the room with Jeffrey. When the movement of the creatures begins to increase, the two decide they need to get out of there and forcibly take the child with them. She struggles and complains, crying for her father.

They return and find the rest of the group, who have found the access key to the control room. After passing on the information Jeffrey found about controlling the virus with low temperatures, the group accesses the system and tries to activate the HVAC in the facility. However, they need to turn the key in the power room, so they go there together.

On the way, many creatures start pursuing the group, and Benito manages to run ahead. He tries to help the others who are trapped by throwing his cellphone and buying them some time. However, Diego and Jeffrey get trapped and are brutally attacked. Then, Benito and the rest of the team try to hurry and activate the cooling system as soon as possible to stop the creatures. Thanks to Luis, the group activates the HVAC, and they return to see the other two injured. Diego barely survives, but Jeffrey is dying. Despite his medical knowledge, Benito can't save Jeffrey. Luckily, Diego manages to save him.

The group notices that the door to the room where Micael had locked himself is open, and they go to see what's inside. They find Micael alive inside, with one arm twisted and wearing a glove on the other. He begins to explain the research at that place and thanks the group for their help. However, he continues to say that the true hell would start outside, where that creature was already hunting.
