Bárbara Lima[2]
Bárbara Lima was one of the protagonists of the series Paranormal Order, present in The Secret in the Island.[3]
She was a resident from Tipora, an island 250 kilometers from the coast of the state of Espírito Santo. Bárbara was the gardener of the village of Tipora, and with her mother Lívia Lima they lived in a house on the same ground as the Moretti's Mansion, where she tended a vegetable garden and the garden of the mansion. With the arrival of the Florence family to the island, they would stay in the mansion of the missing painter, and Bárbara ande Milo Castello, her childhood friend, see an opportunity to break their monotonous routine and, along with Amelie and Olivier Florence, decide to unravel the secrets of the island.[4]
Bárbara first appeared in the 1st episode of The Secret in the Island, waking up at her home and preparing a breakfast for herself and her mother, before heading to the beach to welcome the new visitors to the island.[5]
Due to a Cicatrization Ritual used by Milo during the battle against the Imaginary Friend in the 8th episode of The Secret in the Island, Bárbara ends up aging a year.[1] In this same battle, Bárbara is caught by the creature and has her face melted by it.[6]
Appearance[]

Bárbara was a 22-year-old girl, had fair skin and medium wavy blonde hair, which surpass her shoulders. Bárbara had dark eyes, freckles and sunburn all over her face, almost always carrying a daisy behind her ear. Usually wearing a long brown dress along with a dirty white apron with flower details on the bottom, along with a black strap defining her waist, she also wore a kind of greenish cape fastened by a cord.
Personality[]
Bárbara Lima was a young woman who proved to be friendly like all the residents on the island and new visitors, always acting respectfully with everyone around her, but proves to be very aggressive when it comes to her past with Miguel, even threatening Pedrinho of death just because he suggested talking about what happened. Like her mother, she was responsible for the garden in front of the mansion, being one of her favorite spending times caring for the garden next to her home. In view of her posture with her mother, she acts apprehensively before her behaviors, seeking information about the past of her family and the mysteries that plague the island.
Biography[]
Past[]
Little is known about her past, but Bárbara Lima was born on October 10, 2000, and it is known that in her childhood she spent most of the time with her best friend Miguel Castello, including having a slight childhood crush on him, the two were almost always seen together, for this reason both share moments in childhood. The two lived a quiet life in Tipora Island, until one day, after Milo turned 10, Miguel disappeared, and with that, Milo, his imaginary friend, began to take "possession" of the boy’s body, an event that clearly shook Bárbara a lot. Since that day, she constantly had the same nightmare over and over, where she turned into a monster with multiple tentacles and killed everyone on Tipora Island, and then headed to the Moretti's Mansion, completely destroying it until she finds Miguel Castello’s body in a rotten state. The nightmare ended with Bárbara grabbing Miguel’s body and carrying him to the bottom of the sea.
The Secret in the Island[]
At the age of 21, Bárbara Lima wakes up and leaves her room, giving a light tidiness in her home and garden, due to the warning of Adrian Vurtoren that he would need help carrying the luggage to the mansion, where the new visitors would stay. Bárbara and Milo arrive and meet with the Florence and Cavalcante. After a brief conversation and introduction, the island residents help carry the family’s luggage to the mansion. In the mansion, they come across an old, but very elegant and chic environment. After separating into pairs, Bárbara and Amelie Florence find a strange painting that resembles a person covered by a veil that passes a strong and terrifying feeling. Searching for anything in the rooms, they find various documents about the mansion’s past and its residents. In the evening, they meet and go towards the library, where they find a horror story about the painter who killed his own wife, causing them to begin to suspect that something strange was happening. The four decide that someone should see the painting alone, so Amelie ends up going. After a while, Bárbara and the rest of the group hear the desperate cries of Amelie, who was terrified and convulsing on the floor. Then, after they manage to calm Amelie down and talk about what happened, they dine and prepare to sleep, terrified by the paranormal encounter. Bárbara goes home with Milo, as he does not want to go home in the dark and be alone, because his father was away.
The next day, Milo and Bárbara wake up and furious knocks are heard at the door of Bárbara’s room. Mrs. Lívia wanted to know why Milo’s father was there looking for his son who had not gone to sleep at home. While Milo and Bartô return home, Lívia attacks Bárbara for having gone to the mansion and grounds her, restricting her from leaving home and being present at the church’s barbecue that would take place on the same day. Bárbara cries due to her mother’s slap, and decides to "run away" from her home. Leaving there she finds Olivier and talks a little with him. Amelie and Angelina leave the mansion and ask Bárbara about a good beach, Bárbara recommends the beach of Milo’s house and guides them there. Once there, the four enter Milo’s house and continue the conversation. Suddenly, they hear someone screaming and see Angelina running away from some animals fighting on the beach and thus the young people end up being involved in the fight. As a result, Milo ends up poisoned by a snake and Bartô, who heard the shouting on the beach and came back to help, carried his son to the village doctor. Arriving at Návia’s house, Bárbara discovers they need an antidote to the snake’s venom. Then she and Amelie go together to the forest to look for a plant called "Climbing Fig". On search of Bisteca to find the right plant, the girls find Pedrinho and Vitinho bothering the animal. Bárbara and Amelie go on top of the two. Bárbara scolds Pedrinho, making him flee and they rescue Bisteca. After finding the right plant, Bárbara tells Amelie about a secret the entire island knows, except Milo, which is also why she got so angry with Pedrinho. In the evening, they realize that the village is very busy, Bárbara sees her mother and, afraid, hides behind people so as not to be seen. Some time later, she realizes that her mother was already passed out from drinking. The group then meets and discusses the information obtained. After eating and interacting with several people from the village, Celestino strangely appears in the middle of the barbecue. The group, after accompanying Adrian to the lighthouse with his uncle, decide to go to the mansion. There they discuss about a birth record and fight so that Milo couldn't get it, but, seeing all that situation in front of her, and Milo’s insistence, Bárbara bursts and decides to reveal her secret that she kept for so long. She tells Milo that he never actually existed, that "Milo Castello" has always been an imaginary friend of Miguel, and that one night, mysteriously Miguel takes Milo’s personality permanently, simply stopping appearing. For 10 years all of the village kept this lie, at the request of Bartô, but Bárbara could not go on with it anymore and told the whole truth. She goes back to her house next to Milo, who sleeps in her house.
The next morning, Bárbara gets up and leaves clothes and a note for Milo to change. After the daily routines, they talk about last night. They resolve and go to the mansion to find Olivier and Amelie. Arriving there, they meet and talk, until they hear the horn from Adrian's boat. Bárbara and Milo decide to go find the boatman to try to intercept Cavalcante Bueno, one of the main suspects considered by the group, since according to him, he would leave today. At the docks, they see a man accompanying Adrian, Wanderley, Cavalcante's colleague. After a brief presentation, Bárbara and Milo decide to take the lunch of Celestino to the lighthouse and take the opportunity to search the man’s things and find an old cigar, she smells the object and feels a very strange sensation, being brought back to the senses by Milo. She takes the cigar and the two leave the lighthouse. On the beach, the two go with Wanderley to the mansion. When they arrive, the man introduces himself to the Florence and sets off to search for his partner in the mansion, to no avail. While talking, everyone is approached by the island’s residents looking for Amora, everyone decides to help find her and then leave immediately, Bárbara accompanies Amelie and Wanderley through the forest. While searching for Amora, the three hear screams coming from the beach, and then leave there immediately. Upon arriving at the beach, Bárbara comes across a bizarre scene, a man with his face completely open, stretched near huge stones next to a painting, which contained the exact same scene. While recovering from the shock, Bárbara notes that Otávio Nemiera was touching the painting in a strange way, and as she got close to him, she was stopped by Evandro Eiland, that drives her away with Amelie. The two leave for the house, Bárbara tells Amelie that she is sure that everyone on the island knows something about the painter. Upon arriving home, Bárbara barely has time to check her mother’s room before she appears. It starts a huge discussion among the three of them about how no one was safe in that place. Lívia is furious to hear Bárbara mentioning Leila Lima, and after assaults and screams, Lívia locks the two inside the house and goes to her room. Eventually, Wanderley cuts through the door of Bárbara’s house and frees them. Now in the mansion the group reunites, with the exception of Milo, who stayed at home due to his birthday. Bárbara and Amelie distrust Wanderley and try to get information from him, in which he refuses to talk, so everyone decides that it is better to sleep and discuss more about everything the next day. Bárbara, Olivier and Amelie sleep in the same room, because of the fear of something happening during the night.
That night, Bárbara has a very lucid dream, being on the docks and noticing two silhouettes coming out of the water, deciding to run up the lighthouse. Upstairs she hears a bell and comes across the molten painting of Celestino’s room. Cornered, she decides to enter the painting to escape and manages to wake up from the dream. Amelie and Olivier wake up and the three discuss their nightmares. As they leave the rooms, they hear a shouting downstairs and come across Lívia fighting with Angelina and Montel and pointing angrily at Constantine’s painting. Bárbara approaches along with the others to break up the fight. Calmer, Lívia leaves the mansion and Bárbara goes after her. They argue about all those secrets she wanted to keep from her. When she leaves home, Bárbara finds Milo, who calls her to the cliff to see his and Miguel’s diary. There, Bárbara is moved by the texts. Then, after seeing a figure, they find a note addressed to Noralma and decide to go to the mansion. They talk to Amelie and Olivier and investigate Wanderley’s rooms. They find nothing and decide to go to the church. The meeting begins and people start to incriminate Bartô, who loses his mind and begins to be violent. Bárbara helps calming him and then he goes to jail. She, along with Milo, are angered by Evandro’s decision and head towards the police station. There, they are prevented from entering and, after taking Cavalcante’s autopsy, they go to Milo’s house. When they arrive, they try one of the keys in Bartô’s bedroom drawer, but to no avail. Thus, the two return to the mansion. On the way, they meet Wanderley, Amelie and Olivier and have a talk. They decide to trust Wanderley, who tells where he had hidden Cavalcante’s things, including a painting. They look at the painting together and everyone feels strange, and decide to leave it hidden. Finally, they decide to go to rest.
